Scam Phone Calls

Yesterday, I received a call from a "Kevin Johnson" who claimed to be calling to collect on a debt owed on a payday loan. He spoke in a thick Indian accent. I informed him that I was filing chapter 7 bankruptcy and gave him my lawyer's information. Today, he called me back from 1 (311) 695-3764. He left a call back number on my voicemail asking to call him back on this number: 1(347) 602-4551. Then he called me back this evening and would not give me any information except to tell me that he was collecting for a payday loan from Cash Advance. I have never heard of this company, first off. Second off, he was very rude and hung up on me when I was trying to get information. He had my social security number and said he had an affidavit for my arrest. I am very concerned b/c I have read on the internet that this is a scam and this guy has my social security number. I am going through a bankruptcy and I am hoping to establish some credit and I don't need some wierd scammer with my social...

THEY SAY THERE FROM NY BUT ITRACED THE NUMBER TO MA
First off, he called me at 6 a.m. I know by law debt collectors cannot call you before 8 a.m. The biggest clue this might be a scam was his thick accent and very “Average American” sounding name. He did rattle off my drivers license number and social security number, but my work history and checking account were both way out of date (I did not work for that company in two years and closed that checking account well over a year ago) so this kind of led me to believe something was amiss. Also, for such an official sounding organization, their phone lines were in seriously poor condition. The call dropped three times, each time he would call me back from a different number and accuse me to hanging up on him!
Things began to fall apart for “Kevin” when I asked him what company he was calling on behalf of. He rattled off about five different companies, including CashNet USA and another Cash America. He also began throwing out a list of other names as I tried to confirm this. I asked him which ONE company was involved. He responded that it could have been any of those or more than 300 other companies his parent company does business under. I asked him for the information on the loan, which he claimed he sent already six times. I kept him on the phone and looked up any emails from those companies on my email account. I found none.
When I told “Kevin” there were no records emailed to me, he simply insisted that his company sent them. I asked him to resend them, but he refused, claiming it was “too late” in the process to do that. I asked him if he had my file on his computer and he said he did. Fine, I told him, just email it to me right now, it would take all of five seconds. He refused, saying he wasn’t allowed to do that. What email account did he have on file for me? He responded by asking ME if I would confirm the address. When I told him to just rattle off what he had on his screen in front of him, he said he didn’t have it in front of him, but it was on file. Fine, I said, I’ll hold while you get it. He tried to change the subject by telling me his company had “very good cause” to sue me and did I know I could go to jail.
By now, I was pretty much convinced this was a scam. Every time I tried to get information from “Kevin” he would give me a lot of excuses and doubletalk. We argued like this for some time, finally he got frustrated and said I wasn’t serious about this, and that I was facing a lawsuit and would be thrown in jail. I responded by telling him I would need to see the information on this supposed debt and that it would take more than somebody calling me up and saying I owed money to get me to respond in any way.
He finally told me to hang on and transferred me to his supervisor. This guy was even harder to understand, but said in broken English his name was John Phillips. I laughed when he said this, largely because it sounded to ridiculous, and he got angry and repeated this name three times. “John” told me I had nothing to laugh about and that there was a lawsuit pending on me and I would owe over $5,000 in court fees for my unpaid payday loan.
Before I could respond to this he told me officers were coming to arrest me right now. I asked “John” which law enforcement agency this was. He told me the agency for my city. Okay, I said, which agency is this warrant issued from? Again, he told me the local sheriffs. I told him I found that was odd, because the city I live in does not use the sheriffs, we have our own police department.
Finally, he raised his voice and told me this was no joke and asked me if I was going to pay him. I said no. He then told me that the sheriffs were coming to arrest me and that I should “have a good day.” Then he hung up.
I have since checked with the payday loan place I used, and they told me I have no outstanding debts, just as I thought. Further, I have checked with the police and no warrant was ever issued for my arrest. This whole thing is a scam.
1) Old payday loans
2) Applications made to phony "payday loan" sites.
3) Possible access to U.S. consumer credit reports, either currently, or in the past (There was a connection between a shut down Jacksonville FL debt collector with an Indian call center, and a network of payday lenders.)
Based on when your old account was closed, was the old account information he had consistent with being obtained through either an actual old payday loan you had taken out, or from an application for one on-line? Had you applied for such a payday loan prior to closing that account?
Or is that ruled out by that account being closed already at the time you may have applied for a payday loan?
Read carefully below:
Investors who have hundreds of millions of dollar at any major bank such as Wells Fargo have found a better way for those large investors to make a higher return on their money then what a bank will offer them, they simply rent/lease their funds/money to a company or person who needs to show large funds on their company ledger in order for them to do commodity/commercial deals worldwide, this is called a lease proof of funds (POF) and the investor will lease/rent their funds to the company/person for a period of 60 days at a time and charge anywhere from 2% up to 10% of the amount that the company/person is needing to show on their ledger. And what makes this safe to the investor is that the investor would allow a sub-account or non-depleating account to be opened under the investors main account, also called their master account and this keeps the investors money in their total control but now allows the company/person who leased/rented the money from the investor to now have an account with their name on it with let's say $100 Million Dollars in it. And now this will allow the company/person to show that they have the credibility now to support whatever transaction/deal that they are trying to close or get into to.
Let me show you an example of what I mean. Let's say an oil company has a buyer that has come to buy a large amount of oil from them but they do not have that oil in their own port/holdings the selling company would need to go to a large refinery and order the oil that the buyer has asked for but the seller must show that they have enough money to support their order. Now, the buyer is paying the seller more so this means, the buyer is buying at retail and the seller would get the wholesale price and flip the sale directly to the buyer thus making the profit but if the seller doesn't have enough funds in their account to show that they can afford the order then they would not be able to make the transaction happen at all and thus losing a large profit. Now the buyer has already showed and proved to the seller that they have all the funds to buy the oil so in order for the selling oil company to make a profit they will do what is called a flip sale and now is when they look to lease/rent money from a large investor because they can lease/rent the funds that they need to show the refinery that they can support their order. The refinery normally allows 7 days once the oil has been order to be transported to the final place and also payment. Thus making money now for the investor, the seller and the refinery and now transaction has been completed and money is now made and companies stay in business longer.
Now it's get's better, the government is telling the world that all leased/rented funds also known as proof of funds (POF) are all scams and fraudulant but as you can see above it is a way for the wealthy people to make fast and higher return on their money that is sitting at a bank and they make alot more in those 60 days then any bank would offer them and this allowed a smaller company to start growing but the government doesn't like the fact that all investors normally has a third party also known as an intermediary to do the transaction for them because no large investor has the time nor wants to deal direct with the general public. The intermediary get's paid a commission for these deals and now the government is taking all these intermediaries down and calling them all fraudulant and scammers because they have found a way to work for themselves with large private investors. The government agencies do not like people who are smarter then them or who makes more then them and until the world understands that these are everyday people who are working to make a paycheck, the world will only see everything as a scam instead of seeing the facts with reasons behind the transactions. After all you can do research and see that many attorney's now have given up their practice and have become an intermediary to these type of transactions/deals.
Now what makes this bad with banks is that if someone becomes under an SEC, SS, or FBI investigation, all the banks play stupid and run for the hills and tell the government agencies that these type of accounts (leased/rented accounts) are not real but they are done everyday in the Private Wealth Department of all banks! So, my advise to people who only listen to the news is to do some serious due diligence on when you see that while you sleep that the United States, Government Agencies and Banks are making hundreds of millions of dollars on your money that is sitting in your account as well as they make money by trading your social security number on the international market thus helping to create more bank notes for them to sell to the international world and that my friends is how we got into this mess. The governments love when babies are born as this now gives a new social security number to have a bank note created for and on.
My fellow American's please start looking at what goes on behind the banking world because until you understand how money is really made you will see nothing but what reporters report and that is everything and everyone including all investments in the world must be a scam to all American's because we can now be fooled very easy as our ears and eyes have been trained to only believe what is reported and that is what we have all done. If you would research the international trading market, the stock exchange and the private wealth world on how money is really created, you will soon see that thousands of people have been charged with guilt by a jury of it's peers only because they have been programed to believe that everything is fake!
The first time I heard from them the number started with a number 054 something....not a regular Phone # in America, so I goggled it and found out that this people are running a scam with the info they stole from CashNet.com. By the way his name was Agent Frank Smith with a heavy Indian Accent! and in his message he said he was from a federal agency and they were going to take legal actions against me for non payment and put A HOLD on my social security number! A HOLD? Who heard of such thing? is not a freaking credit card! I ignored the call because I knew I did not owe them any money since I had already pay the loan... But since I did not answered they preceded to call my two references and making threats to them as well. To say the least my friend was concern and let me know that she had got a call from "Agent Smith".
I decided to call them back, that same day and when they answer, they started reading the whole script that I had got on my voicemail, I stop them in the middle of it, I asked "Agent Frank" what was my SS# and to my surprise it was my number! scary right! I asked him how much did I owe and they claimed it was $646. I told him that the highest amount of a loan on this place was only $200 and I was aware of there scam and since they where so inclined to get the money, I dare them to get it from my bank account since they had that information as well.
I called the FBI and since they can't trace the calls, there solution was do not answer! That is fine with me, but not if they are harassing my references.
You may think they would stop calling, but this people are [***]! Next time they called I only owed 356 dollars! I told them again to get it from my bank! and then hang out. By now you you think they removed you from there list, right?
WRONG! This cockroaches insisted on calling but from another number! 626-377-9468. By then I had read enough complains and one person suggested to turn the table on them and even gave a tip on how to answer the phone, which I did...
When they called, I had enough time to Google the number which by the way was a 202 number, and found out it was them AGAIN! So I answer, I told him to please hold, just so I could walk outside my office and talk. I then presided to told this person that he had reached the federal bureau of investigation and the number he had call was been investigated for getting fraudulent calls. I asked him what federal agency he was calling from and what was his ID number so I could transfer him to proper department.
To make the story short, he started to OFFER ME a $1000.00 If I gave him oral sex, of course he was not this polite, he started calling me [***] and I just keep asking for his federal agency name and Id number, until he hanged up. You may think that would of have been the end of it... But NO!
A few days later I got a call from them again, a different person, still with an Indian Accent. I answer the same way and the person on the other line told me, let me get you my supervisor, he put me on hold and then using a deeper tone of voice pretending to be someone else, I ask for his federal agency name and ID number and he just hanged up! I thought I got rid of them...
WRONG AGAIN! But I guess a third time is a charm! Once again I get a called from this scam of the earth people and once again I answered in the same way. He claimed to be an Federal Office in Washington. I once again asked for his ID number and Name and he gave me my phone number and my name! I told him that what he had given me was a phone number not an ID number.
I asked him what Federal Agency he was calling from and he change his story and told me it was a Collection Agency. I told him that they were been investigated for making fraudulent calls and we were pinpointing the location of this calls and what he was doing was criminal and if he continued calling, he would be going to jail! He got so scared that he promised he would never called again!...
No it does not end there, Yesterday they called AGAIN! using this 202-249-7493 number and same ammo, but different name, now his name is Michael Crane! "I am calling from the Federal Crime Investigation department and I am contacting you in regards to a legal matter, your name and social security number have been linked to a legal investigation... Blah Blah...what gets me is that at the end of the voicemail they say "God Bless" Really? If they believe in God they should know that what they are doing is wrong! And yes, once again they precede it to call my references!
Today I got a call AGAIN! Since they did not get a person on the other end yesterday. So I once again turn the tables. I just said Hello in Spanish, and they hanged up. But an Hour Later they called AGAIN! So I answer in Spanish, they ask for me and keep talking to them in Spanish told them I did not speak English and say I did not know ME! So he hang up!
I know is not the end of it! So I will continue answering in different languages every time to [***] with there heads!
No one seems to do anything about it, and CashNet, said they were "investigating" the matter... and suggested not to answer the phone. That is fine with me, but if I don't, they start calling my two references and leaving there stupid message and one of my reference was really pissed at me and ask me to tell them to stop calling her.
So I will continue messing with them! I know it is a SCAM, so since they are so whiling to take the time to try to intimidate, I may as well [***] with there heads!
I hope my story helped to shed some light and hopefully no one will fall for it! By the way they prefer the payment via Western Union! So please BEWARE! and feel free to drive them crazy, turn the tables on this scam artist!
Good Luck
Gumshoes!
