Yesterday, I received a call from a "Kevin Johnson" who claimed to be calling to collect on a debt owed on a payday loan. He spoke in a thick Indian accent. I informed him that I was filing chapter 7 bankruptcy and gave him my lawyer's information. Today, he called me back from 1 (311) 695-3764. He left a call back number on my voicemail asking to call him back on this number: 1(347) 602-4551. Then he called me back this evening and would not give me any information except to tell me that he was collecting for a payday loan from Cash Advance. I have never heard of this company, first off. Second off, he was very rude and hung up on me when I was trying to get information. He had my social security number and said he had an affidavit for my arrest. I am very concerned b/c I have read on the internet that this is a scam and this guy has my social security number. I am going through a bankruptcy and I am hoping to establish some credit and I don't need some wierd scammer with my social...

ALL THE ABOVE IS THE SAME WITH ME.  I HAVE GOT TO THE POINT THAT I REFUSE TO ANSWER STRANGE NUMBERS.  AT FIRST IT SCARED ME PUT THE MORE I CHECKED INTO THINGS THE MORE I KNEW IT WAS A SCAM.  I HAVE ONLY TALKED TO THEM 2 TIMES AND THE REST IS MESSAGES THAT I HAVE SAVED ON MY CELL PHONE.. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 9 MONTHS, THEY WILL CALL FOR A WHILE AND THEN STOP FOR A FEW WEEKS AND START OVER 3 AND 4 TIMES A DAY.  THEY HAVE CALLED MY WORK AND MY BOSS IS GREAT, HE NOW TELLS THEM THAT I AM NOT EMPLOYED HERE ANY LONGER, THEY STILL CALL ONCE IN A WHILE BUT NOT AS OFTEN .  THEY HAVE CALLED MY 85 YEAR OLD MOM AND IT SCARED HER.  THEY HAVE CALLED MY SISTER SHE JUST HANGS UP ON THEM OR DOES NOT EVEN ANSWER. IT IS JUST A PAIN, MY POLICE DEPT. TOLD ME TO PUT THE NUMBER HERE ON LINE AND THAT IT WAS A SCAM.  THAT IS HOW I FOUND THIS SITE.

I'm so mad, I had this scam pulled on me today, They called me saying that I owed a payday loan of 340.00 dollars that I made in May of this year, I told them that they are lying because I don't have any loans with that company and I'm not paying for a loan I didn't received. I was so angry with them I telling them about themselves trying to scam people and I was going to the police if I did'nt get more information on the loan. I asked them to give the number of the loan company and I would call them myself to find what was going he said he would do it, then I knew that something was wrong, then I went on the internet to look the scams up and found this website. I'm so glad that I'm not dumb but like some many other people I wonder how they got all my information my work number and ssn and other information, then it must have been from me when I went on line searching for certain things and using my information, this is so scarey I will never use the internet for anything anymore that ask for my personal information because it is to easy for people to still your information. I'm not through with this people I'm going to take further and try to expose them. I'm tried of people trying to scam innoncent people.

I have been receiving calls from a 646 area code on my cell and work. Heavy Indian accent named Office Robert Gracia saying I never paid back a loan with cashnet and I was going to be arrested.  I have never heard about cashnet. The only scary thing is they had my social and bank account. Very scary.  I had to close my account.  Be careful. They are EVIL!

I've been getting calls from 'Edward Morrison of American Law Offices with the Federal Investigation Department' for the last week and before that it was 'Charlie Daniels with the Federal Internal Revenue Services Loan and Debt Department'

Both are fake, and their accent was so thick it made my grandfathers turkey gravy look like water. To counter their attacks I called the IRS, they don't have a 'Loan and Debt Department', and I email the big honcho at ALO.

The other one thats been calling is really funny and when i put his name you you will laugh its 'Sean Connery with the American Legal Offices' I answered his called yesterday and talked to me for twenty minutes. Told him I was State Attorney General and that if he called my number again I would call the the FBI. I have this wonderful device I bought on Ebay, a police-issue phone Trace. I had his number, his location, the address of the building he was in before he even called today gave him all that and he hung up without even trying to speak.

Rule is, if you wanna play hardball don't play with the guy who deals with the scum of the earth day in day out as he patrols the prison grounds. I've heard every scam, every deal, every stupid method of getting money out of people.

Good tip, don't give out your phone number online, even if the site says they are secure, even a half decent hacker can get in and look at their records, including SSN.

I have listened to the infamous "Officer Kevin Johnson" berate me because of a nonexistant payday loan. I made the mistake of checking into loans online. Never again. Luckily my son-in-law is a policeman. He plans to answer the next call and get to the bottom of this scam. I plan to change my phone #, change my bank accounts, and tell my references what is going on. Hopefully someone somewhere will stop this scam. The number "Officer Kevin Johnson" used was (508)499-7181.

They use fake "payday loan" application websites to fish for information on U.S. consumers to use in these extortion rackets.

You know what information you put in your applications, so you can recognize when they feed it back to you, pretending you "owe" them.  They are looking for those people who may actually have gotten a loan somewhere, so it looks like they are collecting on it.

My husband has been receiving the same type of phone calls from "Michael Sanchez" who states he's from the legal department and there has been a complaint filed against his social security number. It again has to do with Payday Loans. "Michael" will not give any specific information as to why my husband is "going to be arrested and thrown in jail" and why "the police are on their way to his employer to arrest him". He contacted my cell phone and stated he was with the IRS legal department but would not release any additional information. I advised him to send everything in writing and we would respond.  To date, we have received nothing and the first phone call happened over 2 months ago. We have received several calls daily since then...but he will still not provide any documentation...and my husband is still free...no jail time.  HA HA!!  What a freakin' scam!!!  INSANE!

I have been receiving the same calls as well as my husband.  They are all heavy Indian accent with very "American" names.  They state they are attempting to collect a debt for a payday loan.  They have my social and my current address!  But I have no idea who they are.  I finally started telling them wrong number.  Then they started calling for my husband.  Stating the same thing.  Here's the kicker, my husband just got out a few months ago and was there for 2 1/2 years!  How would he have acquired such a loan!!  They call my cell phone and ask for him and I tell them this is not his number and the guy actually said who the f--- are you!?  I cursed back at him and told him not to call this number again.  He hung on the line and cursed me out, no joke cursed me out.  I told my husband when he got home and he called them back.  They told my husband did you know your wife is fooling around on you?  We sat back and laughed at that one.  Anyway, these posts are from 2009 but my calls have been ongoing for 2011.  I have contacted the local police, FBI and filed a complaint with IC3.  All to no avail.  When and where does "our" government protect us?

I work in an office and we repeatedly get calls for one of our workers who does not work in the office. If you hang up on them, they call back immediately from a different phone number. I had 7 calls in a row yesterday from different area codes, unavailable, pay phone, private and they were all the same heavily accented idiot. Now he is being obscene, saying MF repeatedly and today he asked for my name and said he would like to F me. I think these people should be taken out and shot!

i know most of them as i have
    worked for/with them.
90 percent of them call from
    india(Ahmedabad,mumbai,Rajkot
    or Pune).
When i went their office for an
interview, they told me that we
    collect money from those people
    who have owed money but
    didn’t pay back yet.
    I said ‘ok’
    when i started calling those
people, most of them told me i
    never got a loan.
Then i informed to my TL(team
    leader) about
    This problem,
he replied ”don’t worry, they are
    lying, harras them”
by hearing this i thought this
    didn’t sounds legal.
After that i googled and i found
    that we were doing criminal
    activities.
Next day i went to hr department
and told them i wouldn’t do this
    f*cking job.
I tell you the whole path of these
    scamers.
First of all, they get the whole
    information about people
    (including ssn. Phone number
    (work place and home), email
add. Res. Add., fake ip add.,
    birthday and many more)
they named it ‘leads’ for each
lead they pay 1 dollar which are
    provided by other person.
Most of them call from an
    application named eyebeem or
    xlite.
They can display any number like
0 or 911 or anyone which they
    want.
Do following things to stop them.
First of all speak english as a first
    language.
Tell them that you are calling
    from india(mumbai,
    ahmedabad,pune or rajkot) and i
    know that.
Tell them who provide you this
leads or where is your closer.
Ask them if you are an american,
then tell me few lines of our
    national anthem.
At last tell them that stop calling
or i will contact your city police
    via FBI.
Believe me they won’t call you
    again.
But there are many centres in
india so may be, you can get call
from other but each time tell
    them which i have mentioned
    above.
    My email id is
    gosvammi.jayy@hotmail.com.
Forgive me because i have done
this job for 7 days, but that time i
    didn’t know the truth.
    Bye and take care.

I also have been receiving calls (research says call are from CA)claiming to the "Officer" handling my case, and that I will be arrested within 1/2 an hour.  I told him that he is breaking several laws claiming to be 1)Law Enforcement, 2)A Licensed Attorney, and others including harassment by communications.  The first call I phoned my attorney who made a three way call with the scam caller, who stated that he would have to deal with his employees if they are actually telling people these things, but he thinks we just misunderstood what was being stated. His number that he called from today is 714-485-9593. I told him if was real, I wouldn't be receiving a phone call to tip me off, I would be getting a knock on my door by Law Enforcement with warrant in hand.  Law enforcement do not call and tip off the people they are going to arrest.
