I work for a california county child support office and I have been receiving phone calls from this collection agency and previous ones for approximately 4 years. This is over a phone bill that is for someone I do not know and gave my office number as their contact number. I have explained several times and I guess they think I am lying. I am not the person they are trying to reach and am very upset as I have perfect credit and do not deserve the harassing phone calls. I have requested that they stop yet they do not. The number they leave to call back is 1-866-221-3230.

Allied Interstate (866-396-7770) will not stop calling me...even after I told them I never heard of the person they asked for...

In one day they called me at:
    4:15pm
    6:31pm
    8:42pm

And that was after telling them Saturday (July 4th) that the female name they were looking for is not at my number (im male btw).

I just happened to answer the phone here at my place of employment...I work in the HR dept...I knew that it was a bill collector by phone number (800) so when the [***] asked for a associate that works here I asked him if it was a emergency..he got all [***] with me so while he was going off on me and telling me that the call was being recorded i wrote down his number...big suprise for him when i called back...i called the number 6 times and each time the scum bucket kept hanging up on me...finally someone else answered the phone and let me say i called him out and told them that i was reporting them to the ATTY GENERALS OFFICE and the BBB here in ohio if they so much as called one more time...I love the fact that the big bad bill collector got a taste of what it was like to be on the other end of a phone call...

They started calling my house about 3 months ago for my ex-sister in law. I haven't had contact with her in over 15 yrs! I wonder how they got my number too, it's not in my maiden name.

I am reading all these complaints...has anyone stopped them? Please tell me how!!

You could take responsibility for yourself, be an adult, and pay your debts and  you wont be called anymore.

Ok I just decided to go through my caller ID since I'm never home and see if I missed any important calls.  I had several calls from the same 877 number showing 3-4 calls every day so I decided to call to see who it was and what it was about. Well, the recording asked me to hold for an important matter. This guy comes to the phone asked how he could help me and I informed him I was returning the calls from my caller ID. He proceeds to ask me if my address was blah, blah, blah and I told him yes so he tells me he's calling about a past due balance with Verizon. I asked him when did they take over the account (little did he know, I just pulled my credit report two weeks ago since I want to buy a house and this was on my report but under a different name with no address) he tells me they got the account on Aug 19th. So I told him no problem, if he would send me a letter with this information on it, I'll take care of it. He gets an attitude and tells me we sent you a letter already. "Ok sir, I haven't received anything from you company so if you can send me another one, I'll pay it". He yells "We sent you a letter on August 21st". I explained to him, I have not received anything from his company and I'm not making a payment over the phone as I do not conduct my business that way so if you send me the information in the mail I will make a payment. He says "So, you're not making a payment over the phone". I told him no, I don't give any of my important infomation over the phone to anyone. He tells me he understands and then gets really nasty "Well, it's on your credit report and it's messing it up so take your sweet time and continue to mess up your credit I don't care". I told him "Sir again the sooner you send me a letter showing the company's name, address and the account number I need to make the check out to, I'll send it in" He starts yelling "So you're not going to pay over the phone? Fine the address is" I cut him off and told him I want something in writing or I'll just look at my credit report and request the information that way. He starts yelling about how that's fine I can pay for a report but can't make a payment to him over the phone and that's just stupid. At that point I just hung the phone up on him.

What's wrong with sending me a statement stating I owe X amount and payments can be made to 123 anywhere street?  Very shady so look out.

Sprint is now using them as well. I have never been called so much or yelled at the way this company does.

Allied and others have tried to contact me. My phone company has a call block service which I use for this kind of harassment. I was ripped off by a timeshare organization, and I won't pay them anything anymore. It's a stop loss measure for me. The timeshare was never available, always booked up. Also, I cannot sell the timeshare without the company's prior approval of the buyer. No buyers made offers when I tried to sell. My solution is that I don't pick up on any of these kind of long distance phone numbers, and I block all of them. I have set the phone ringer on low, so most of the time I don't hear the phone anyway. People who know me use my cell phone number. Time is on my side, and soon the Statute of Limitations or a court action by me will stop any further calls. I never hear their BS, because I never answer the phone for 800, 877, 899 numbers. They don't leave messages because they are blocked after the first call.

Can anyone tell me what happens if you have a legitimate debt with this company what the best course of action is??  If this company is so disreputable would it still count against my credit score if i do not settle the debt?  Any extra information would be helpful.

Also people are speaking of a statute of limitations...what exactly is the statute of limitations??  If it makes a difference the debt originated from a Bank in Rhode Island...I would appreciate any and all information I receive on here.  Thanks in advance

ALLIED INTERSTATE called me today never would give me their name. He pretended to be an attorney, but I knew better.  Said my wife was a co-signer on he Amex card. Well, I have a copy of the application and that isn't even an option. All I did was add her as an authorized user and removed her over a year ago.  They kept putting words in my mouth I didn't say. It's very hard for me to work with or send money to someone I don't trust.  I am going to get them on tape next time making a false claim. He was like why would I lie about that, I have the copy of the application right here, and I am like so do I so what are you looking at?  Record the call if you actually take their call and check their facts later.

I just received an automated call from these idiots, telling me that there was an outstanding debt "in collections". I have great credit, always pay on time, usually the whole balance. are they just fishing for people who call back?

According to my call log, Allied Interst. has called 14 times in the past 3 days. I finally answered the call this afternoon because it was annoying. After a long pause and a click, a woman said "hello?" I said 'Yes?" and she asked for a Karen. When I told her she had the wrong number, she actually argued with me! She confirmed the phone number, which is unlisted, and I told her again she had the wrong number and needed to remove my number. She asked me how long I have had this number, and I told her a while, and again to remove my number. As she started to argue with me again, I told her (again) she had the wrong number, to remove my number, and to not call here again. I then hung up and started my research. I need to find out what to do if they continue to harass me, as I have no debt and have read bad stories about this company trying to get money from people when calling & asking for people that didn't live there.

This company has been calling me daily for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I have no idea who they're looking for because the one time i answered I couldn't understand what the man said. I don't owe anybody anything and have never had a past due account in my life (50+ years)and want these calls to stop. I've had the same cell phone number for 3 years which is the number they're calling and I guess either somebody had the number before me or gave the number out or the company is just dialing at random.

Don't answer these calls, don't respond and if you can, block the number. Very few people have my cell phone so it's not a problem for me to turn it off, but I still want to know how to stop these idiots.
