Harassing Phone Calls
Complaint

Country: United States
I work for a california county child support office and I have been receiving phone calls from this collection agency and previous ones for approximately 4 years. This is over a phone bill that is for someone I do not know and gave my office number as their contact number. I have explained several times and I guess they think I am lying. I am not the person they are trying to reach and am very upset as I have perfect credit and do not deserve the harassing phone calls. I have requested that they stop yet they do not. The number they leave to call back is 1-866-221-3230.

ALL YOU NEED TO DO ,IN ORDER FOR THEM TO
GET A JUDGEMENT AGAINST YOU, IS ANSWER A CALL FROM THEM. THEY NOW HAVE A
RECORD THEY CAN SHOW A JUDGE, PROOF THAT THEY HAVE SPOKEN WITH YOU AND
REACHED AN AGREEMENT TO PAY, (WHICH OF COURSE YOU DID NOT).. TRY TO GET
IT REVERSED????... THEY HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION "THEY NEEDED"
DO NOT... DO NOT ..DO NOT.. SPEAK WITH ANY OF THESE BOTTOM FEEDERS.. THEY
WILL CHASE YOU FOR 3-6 MORE YEARS UNTIL THE STATUTE RUNS OUT AGAIN..
IF YOU'RE FOOLISH ENOUGH TO THINK THAT'S THE END OF IT. YOU DESERVE
WHAT YOU GET...
THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF ON-LINE PHONE SERVICES (CHEAP), THAT OFFER FREE
CALL BLOCKING.. JUST BLOCK THE NUMBERS AND SLEEP IN PEACE. THE
ONLY TIME YOU'LL KNOW THEY CALLED IS IF YOU TAKE THE TIME TO CHECK
YOUR CALL RECORD..
ME... I DON'T WASTE MY TIME..
THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS IN MOST STATES IS 3-6 YEARS. ANYTHING BEYOND THAT
IS "UN-COLLECTABLE" UNLESS YOU GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO RE-INSTATE
THEIR CLAIM AS EXPLAINED ABOVE..
They are subject to a consent agreement prohibiting violations of FDCPA and requiring specific actions be taken to ensure they do not engage in collection of unowed debt.
Your caller attempted to intimidate you into paying an unowed debt despite your telling him you did not owe it, rather than notifying you that you could dipsute the alleged debt and that by law they would then have to obtain and send you proof or cease collection.
His intimidation was an attempt to con you, in violation of Allied's agreement with FTC.
Contact FTC to report violations of FDCPA by Allied Interstate.
