Today I received a text msg asking me if I would like a $200 Gas Voucher. It provided a toll free number to call for details: 877-764-7978. I have received 6 different text messages this year, with similar promises. I called the number, the person on the other end with a foreign accent, claimed to work for "Central Rewards" and proceeds to tell me for a one-time fee of $2.95 I would get a $200 gas voucher, good anywhere. Sarcastically, I said that it sounds too good to be true! I asked him how I pay the $2.95 fee to get my voucher... Of course, he was willing to accept any major credit card. Unfortunately, when I reply STOP to opt out of these things, it does no good. Each time, the text msg with an amazing offer comes from a different number. All of them lead back to "Central Rewards"

    yea these guys think they're good. i knew something was up when the same 2numbers been calling my phone the past 3days. did some checking online. was right about it being a scam lol. kept them on the phone for an hour at least lol. then they were not happy when i told them i had an old canceled out credit card i could give them lol. i dont even have a cc. well they hung up on me haha. they called from these 2numbers 314.627.6978 and also 312.878.9792 BEWARE of SCAMS !!!

    Today, a link from online survey called "InBox Pays" will link or attach you to this 3rd party called "OnlineRewardsCentral.com" scammer claiming you just WON a $1,000 rewards gift card and that you have 113 seconds to choose and click the type of gift in the form of $1,000 Walmart, Visa Debit, or something else.

    Then, immediately they start spamming your phone & the small print says afterwards that they will charge your phone as a subscription $9.99 per month. I can't wait until the FBI catch this SCAM ARTISTS & throw the book at him. Now, we know to be on the lookout for suspicious being that's not a family member or friend via call, media or any type of visit or solicitation...and we are prepared to report them right away!! We will be checking our credit reports, etc. and place a red-flag for alert. Its a good thing we gave them some false info. It's only a matter of time that the network of fraudulent losers will go down!

    THANKS for the warning!!! I just got a call fro $500 free groceries. I Googled while I was on the phone & read a few complaints while he gave me his speel. He wanted $2.95 to send the package. When I told him I didn't remember a contest he said they picked me by phone #. When I said I didn't want to give my CC info he hung up. Thanks for your posts & warnings of a SCAMM!!!! You saved me alot of trouble. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!

    Central Rewards called me stating that they were in Phoenix, AZ and I won a free gift card.  They appeared to already have at least part of my debit card (if not all of it).  I confirmed the number with the first person I spoke to, but once I was told about being enrolled in a program and being charged a monthly fee I demanded that the transaction canceled.  I was told I had to go through a process of taping myself giving them my debit card number, but I refused.  They said I will be charged a monthly fee and I would not be able to cancel my membership  without recording myself giving them my debit card number.  I still refused and hung up.  I called my bank, transfered all money out of my account, and cancelled my debit card.   Then I reported the company to the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) complaint line (on the FTC's website).  I also added my home phone and cell phone to the national do not call registry, which is on the FTC's website.
