Today I received a text msg asking me if I would like a $200 Gas Voucher. It provided a toll free number to call for details: 877-764-7978. I have received 6 different text messages this year, with similar promises. I called the number, the person on the other end with a foreign accent, claimed to work for "Central Rewards" and proceeds to tell me for a one-time fee of $2.95 I would get a $200 gas voucher, good anywhere. Sarcastically, I said that it sounds too good to be true! I asked him how I pay the $2.95 fee to get my voucher... Of course, he was willing to accept any major credit card. Unfortunately, when I reply STOP to opt out of these things, it does no good. Each time, the text msg with an amazing offer comes from a different number. All of them lead back to "Central Rewards"

Sounds like the same scam as "American Auto Benefits".  May even be the same scammers.

Do NOT give them any account information, or you will be charged MUCH more than $2.95, for useless "gas vouchers" if you get anything.

I've recieved 6 of these same things, and likewise each one from a different number.  I dare not call or text back.  If this is anything like email spam, replying merely identifies to them that your number is 'good' and the spam will keep coming.  Worse...

Question is, where did it come from, and how do I get it to STOP?

I was very stupid! I fell for this scam. When I called the number sent to my cell I agreeded because I was promised $200.00 in gas. When I received the voucher, It said $200 in gas vouchers over the next 12 months which they didn't explain to me. Then they said that I could call and cancel. When I called the number on my credit card statement a recorded message came on stating that the number or code I dialed was incorrect. I dialed another number that was was given and that number had me on for a very long time.  I am going to follow up with this untl I get every penny back. People there are so many scsms out there. I have had to learn the hard way. Research everything! Don't be fooled!

I also recieved this message, the number was different though, it was 877-676-5829. I knew it was a scam as soon as I read the text. They also called to my work one day....kinda of like a telemarketer, they said something like, "Congratulations, you have been selected to recieve $200 in gas..." I didnt even let the guy finish, I cut him off by saying that I wasnt interested in his scam and also that he called a business and for him not to call again. They have'nt called the business line since, but I cannot get them to stop sending me these annoying text messages.

I was almost hoodwinked w/ this scam just over the last weekend. When I asked the foreign rep if I could cancel he told me that I couldn't until I received the package in the mail (which would probly never show up) or I could wait to recieve the # given after answering a series of questions relating to accepting offers from their alliance scam company PRIVACY MATTERS!

    ***NOW READ THIS PART CAREFULLY***

If you tell them you want to cancel and they try and pull this w/ you, this is the point when you threaten to call you State's Attorney's office (or some sort of legal presence to that effect) because what they're intending to do at this point is TOTALLY A Ponzi Scheme! If you've already gotten this far and are considering cancelling they'll tell you, you cant cancel until you receive a a list of 800#s to call and cancel because they'll claim they cant cancel it at that point in time. Then they'll say, Ok just say YES to the $2.95 or $1.95 trial fee to receive the Vouchers and packaging of other materials related to (CENTRAL REWARDS/MEMBERSHIP SAVINGS + and PRIVACY MATTERS) and if you reply NO to any of these fees being processed on your card they'll close the line. In the end you do get a confirmation # and a list of WORKING #s to call and cancel. Make sure you have a pen though because its about 3 #s they give you.

If the ones up top are dead #s like one person said just call 1-877-652-2168 or 1-888-239-0316. And tell em youd like to cancel immediately because this is ndeed one of the worst scams on the internet! Im still wondering how they even got my info!

My father has received a letter from Central Rewards Membership, where they are threatening him with non payment of $79.90. Not sure, if that is a monthly payment, They have an apparent recording of his acceptance to this SCAM. Have filed a complaint with the local BBB in Pembroke Pines, the FTC and now the FBI IC3. How effective are these complaints to the gov't organization is something I question. I wonder if a collection agency will call my father for non payment. Faxed in the letter with his handwriting and signature with date to Please Cancel. Most likely it will be ignored. On 05/17/2012 he received a call from them to have him listen to a reccording of his acceptance of the terms. He hung up on them. I have all the records to the complaints we have made in the past week.

I am having the same problem.  They said they have a tape of my verifying my order.  I filed a complaint with the BBB of Florida and got a call from a Brooklyn tonight to listen to my 'Verification" tape.  The tape starts out asking my name and address which I do say yes to, at this point I have no idea what this is about.  This tape is very bad, the woman speaks very bad english, I recorded this conversation so I could listen to it again, and again.  On the tape this woman breezes over the last 4 numbers of a visa card.  The interesting part here is that it is a card that I am on only for emergency, it belongs to a friend, it is a check card for a checking account I am not on.   I would never have sat and listened to this woman rant on the way she did,, the end of the tape is very odd how it just stops.  I kept asking this Brooklyn how they got this card number as our bank told us this number was involved in a security breech and they feel this number was hijacked last June or July.  I told her I thought this tape was altered and she ignored that statement and just keeps telling me she can play the verification tape again.  She says I owe this money,, the other interesting part is this is suppose to be a 'Monthly " payment, yet the amount due is the entire contract through Dec 2013... how can you send to a collection agency something that is not due for a year and a half... the war is on. I have filed police reports, BBB in Florida report, which already has over 450 complaints on this company that has only been in business 33 months..... I also filed with the Federal Trade Commission and my states attorney general... if anyone has a better or new Idea, I am open to it!!

don't do it! when i called and asked how they got my number, the foreign rep said that it was from some kind of research company.  when i asked what company HE represented, he said "central rewards".  i then told him i'd call back after researching his company...that's when he just hung up on me!  obviously it's a scam!
