Today I received a text msg asking me if I would like a $200 Gas Voucher. It provided a toll free number to call for details: 877-764-7978. I have received 6 different text messages this year, with similar promises. I called the number, the person on the other end with a foreign accent, claimed to work for "Central Rewards" and proceeds to tell me for a one-time fee of $2.95 I would get a $200 gas voucher, good anywhere. Sarcastically, I said that it sounds too good to be true! I asked him how I pay the $2.95 fee to get my voucher... Of course, he was willing to accept any major credit card. Unfortunately, when I reply STOP to opt out of these things, it does no good. Each time, the text msg with an amazing offer comes from a different number. All of them lead back to "Central Rewards"

Hey I fell for it too. And it sucked because things are tight and that $39.95 would've helped me get the perfect gift for my husband this Christmas so it was really crappy when I came up short for the electric impact wrench. However, I did get it refunded to me so there is hope people! I was so scared over the weekend cause I was calling like crazy trying to get my money back but no one was picking up, but I guess they are closed on the weekends; the automated prompt for cancellation was also hanging up on me so it made things worse. But basically long story short...I called the 18776522168 phone number and the lady on the other line was AMERICAN which was a good sign already lol, no offense, I am not American either. She told me that she will send me a confirmation email with my cancellation code and that my money should be back in my account in 3-5 business days. So there is a way to get your money back people! Just stay on the line I know it takes a while and I hung up once or twice cause I thought I was getting the run around with a fake number, but definitely get your money back!

Oh boy, I know you really can't trust crap like this, but I fell for it. I'm just so strapped for money and it sounded great. Who couldn't use $200 in gas? Why is it always people from other countries tring to scam Americans? Are we really that stupid? Well, I guess I answered my own question, because I fell for it. SO many scams EVERYWHERE!! So if it sounds too good to be true, then it is. ALWAYS!!

I agree with HarryH - FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FCC.

I have been getting these SMS spams for about a month.
I called last month and asked them to stop and she promised they would take me off their list.  I got another one today, so I filled out the FCC complaint form.  They should be able to disconnect all of their 800 #s and effectively shut these guys down if enough people complain.

    Here's a direct link:

Being naive will get you scammed. ALMOST got me. The number that called me is 1-630-869-6835. The caller says I won a $500 Wal Mart Voucher. Now let me remind you he's Indian but says his name is Ricky Williams. Ok he says he from Central Rewards, his employee id # is 10536 and that they are located in Phoenix, Arizona. He tells me lies about himself to get valid information from me. He says I will receive the voucher in the mail in 5-7 days and I that I can began using it like cash in the hand when it arrives. He says I'll have to pay a one time processing fee of 4.95. Suprisingly he already has my name , address, zip, city and state. So Indian Ricky says my package number is FX1035 and wanted to know if I used Visa or Master card. He says he needs to make sure the card is a valid one. He just knew he had me. Boldly he asked what was my expiration date on my card and card number. So I say who gives $500 for $4.95 and he hangs up.

Why do all these guys who call have names like Brad Smith and sound like their are calling from India?  Since when is Brad a common name over there?

    RV+ No Scam for U - 1-6-2011
Today I received a call from Minneapolis, MN 612-808-9591 number, asking me if I would like a $200 Gas Voucher. And a $50.00 Walmart gift card.
It was said to try their product it cost $2.95, but they would not say what was the product. I asked if they had a web site, so I could check them out, they said it was under construction.
CENTRAL REWARDS = BIG FAT SCAM.
Is there some way to stop these SCAMS.
Don't believe that you can get something for nothing.

Illegal at its fullest! READ IMMEDIATELY
i too just received the same thing. the caller id said mineapolis. I gave him my wife card number, then my phone started dying, so i had him call on my cell phone. The number then came up an atlanta prefix. so i asked where are they calling from, he said pheonix, So then i started to wonder. Next i asked for his company name. then looked it up while talking to him. Finally when i seen these post, i told him he would have to cancel the card because i am not the card holder and can not authorize any monies to be withdrawn, that i would have to give him a different card. he said it has already been proccessed. I said, you have to cancel, because i cannot give authorization. he says, isnt the card your friends or family, i say yes, he siad well im sure they won't mind????? WOW! now if that ain't illegal! I said it don't matter I'm not the card holder and you have to stop any and all transactions. he tells me that it has already been done. I said well if you do not cancel the transaction i will call the better business brueau and have him reported because what you just did is illegal. He says have nice day and hung up.
Of course my wife was right there, so i immediately call the card and explain the situation to the lady. And of course the lady says, are you the card holder? I say no, she says well i have to speak to the card holder.(which is what that guy was supposed to do) So I give my wife the phone and she verifies her self, then the lady says there was no transactions as of yet, if there is one she will call immediately to verify the transaction.

You all are big fools who think that this is a scam.
Probably three weeks ago i called them and listened to all the info they were trying to give patiently (which you dont have)  For your information I received my package yesterday and yes I am using the gas voucher and the reason why they are giving this is that along with the gas voucher you would receive a free trial for their discounting service. You can try out the service if you dont like it call up the customer care no. and cancel the trial and all you would be charged is 2.95 however if you dont cancel there would some monthly fees for the service. But regardless of your decision your gas v is yours to use.
Dont you think its a fair business?
They are giving the gift to check out their services.
And guess what you are under no obligation.

I also received a text yesterday with a number to call to receive my reward for a gas voucher & a 50 dollar Walmart girt card. I called and had a man answer with an accent like he was from India. I asked what this was about and he went through his spiel, all i had to pay was 2.00 for shipping. I asked what company was this from and he replied Central Reward out of Phoenix,Az. I said let me look into this & i would get back to them (which i knew it was a scam & i was already thinking it was before i called) but i figured i give it a shot! After i said let me look into this, the man hung up on me! Hmmm! I get text like this often. But unfortunately there are many people that will be scammed by things like these!

I asked how they got my number, she said I don't know, I asked...do they buy lists? she said I don't know, then she asked me for my name, I told her, i had another call and hung up to investigate. Thanks everyone who uses the internet for GOOD REASONS!!!!!!
