Today I received a text msg asking me if I would like a $200 Gas Voucher. It provided a toll free number to call for details: 877-764-7978. I have received 6 different text messages this year, with similar promises. I called the number, the person on the other end with a foreign accent, claimed to work for "Central Rewards" and proceeds to tell me for a one-time fee of $2.95 I would get a $200 gas voucher, good anywhere. Sarcastically, I said that it sounds too good to be true! I asked him how I pay the $2.95 fee to get my voucher... Of course, he was willing to accept any major credit card. Unfortunately, when I reply STOP to opt out of these things, it does no good. Each time, the text msg with an amazing offer comes from a different number. All of them lead back to "Central Rewards"

dave is one of them. They dont want ppl to know they are a scam. I have just got off the phone again with them and they keep saying no this is not a scam and of corse I said thats not what the other 100s of ppl are saying. Why do you want to steel money. All you have to do is get a real job like the rest of us.

If it sounds good then it smells bad
I have also receved the same message. She said her name was Shania Smith with Central Rewards. Her ex. was 1234. Ok so they are trying to sound all busness like. I stayed on the phone and told her i would have to get my card. I asked if they could call me back. She tells me o no i will hold you just do what you need to do. lol. I could barly understand her. I did understand that i had to pay 2.95 one time deal to get 200.00 in gas and a 25.00 gift card. Sounds good. But smells bad. I went and checked out on line and within a few seconds found this sight. I hung up. She called me back and asked what happened. I then told them to get a real job and quit steeling form Americans. Or next time they need our help we will be to broke to save there [***]. The number they gave me was 1-855-278-3891. No i did not give them any info. you just have to be carful what you give out to ppl you dont know. Now since i am a stay at home mom. I called again. just for fun. this time i got andy on the phone and now all i have to pay is 1.00 doller. which is it 1.00 or 2.95. I just started singing scam scam you are a scam. Go to hell you scamming little boy. I called again and got mike on the line. He tells me the same story. but now all i pay is 3.50. They rilly need to get there [***] together. I pay for unlimeted minets and text so if I can mess with them, and save someone who would fall for it then i have helped in some way. IF IT SOUNDS GOOD, THEN IT SMELLS BAD. IT IS A SCAM.

The same thing happened to me and my husband. While he was talking to them I googles the company and found all the scam reports. I showed my husband and he told the lady right then she was not to run the card info. They hung up on him right away. We then checked our account on line while talking to the bankband saw a charge. For 1$ from valentmag877687. Do you know if that is them?

    I hate scams
Total scam...too good to be true....Never give your info by phone, never.....especially for receiving something supposively FREE!! I called and I asked the girl why am I giving you my info and what's it for, and why is there a fee and you need my credit card etc. must have been a newbee cuz the more questions I asked her she stumbled and ended up hanging up. Oh I called right back and got someother yahoo......he apologized and lied right through his teeth and wanted my info bad.....Nope, asked him same questions, who is the company, address, your # your rep id etc.....that was all bogus, but gave me time to google and find this lovely blog, and verify my gut instincts!!! A SCAM!!! Sick world we live in people, spread the word on these guys and protect eachother....Senior citizens get ripped off all the time and these sick people pray on anyone!! Rule of thumb, you don't have to make give your info out on urgency and now....ever....and before you do for anyone...by mail, computer etc always google the company and or get that info to find blogs/scams reported before you agree to anything...They need to be reported..

Ok so I called the number that was sent to my cell phone, I called and b.sed the guy for almost 20 minutes.  His name was Jess Fernandez, that is who I spoke to.  It was so much fun just b.sing this guy.  I knoew from the start it was a scam and so I thought I would have some fun.  I even got the address for "Central Rewards".  25 rose dr, NY, NY 10013.  I googled this address and it came up a doctors office.  So I think what Iwill do next is call a walmart exec. and inform them that this is going on.  I am sure they already know.  Then I will contact the FBI and report this to them as a credit card scam.  So if yon happen to call the number provided, it is just a scam and have some fun with it.

I am so glad to that I ran across this forum!!! I just talked with a girl named Stephanie with Central Wards telephone recorded verication department. These people called me on March 14th saying I could get a $200 gas voucher for a 30 trial of their magazine. I asked was this a scheme and was 2.95 the only thing that would come out of my bank account? The caller Sam Gomez assured me this was the only charge, but when I called my bank cause my money was low, the had taken 49.95 out twice along with a non refundable $25.0. My bank gave me their phone number to this bogus magazine scheming company. I called last week 3/31/11 and was told that I would be getting 49.95 back and a 25.00 refund back when they receive the Ultimate Reward coupon book back and so my other 49.95 was just gone. I filed a complaint with the BBB in the Pembroke Fl area and now I'm going to file with the FTC. Can anyone tell me of any other agency that I can complain to? I am lucky to get some of my money back, I should have checked them out on the internet first, but they called out of the blue and I was glad to try out something for 30 day for the 200.00 gas voucher, which is also a lie. They say gas, but when a man named Chris from the verification dept gets on the phone he says gas and gift voucher. I WANT TO KNOW IF WE, AS CONSUMERS, FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THESE CROOKS, SO THAT THEY WON'T KEEP FAST TALKING AND LYING TO GET OUR MONEY. Please reply with your thoughts and this and if I can help any of you feel free to email me. Thanks for listening and I pray companies like this will get their just due soooon!!!!
