I own Dirt Devil vacuum and the belt broke, so I went directly to dirtdevil.com to order a replacement. On they site they promiss to process all orders within 1-2 business days - I have placed my order on August 9 and it was shipped only on August 24 !!!!! and I got it only on August 31.

And when I finaly got it, I found that they send me wrong size belt - not the one I have ordered !!!

I WAS NOT ABLE TO VACCUM MY CARPETS FOR ALMOST 1 MONTH !!! And now according to their policy I have to ship that belt back to them on my own expence and wait for the refund for 3 weeks and they are still not returning me money I paid for shipment !!!

Dirt Devil will not back their own product.
I bought a broom vac that does not do what it claims. Very weak.
Now, they will not accept a return, telling me I have to return it
    to the store where purchased.

I bought several Dirt Devil vacuums, and I can totally relate to the belt breaking issue. But, that is not my complaint. I recently (last week) purchased the EnVision style vacuum and it SUCKS and not the way a vacuum should. It's heavy, the cord is way to short, no way to really carry it around, and the suction is horrible. I'm soooo disappointed. Lesson learned. No more Dirt Devils for me.

I don't know why you would order belts from the company when you can just buy them at the store where you purchased the vacuum.  Anyway, on to the subject of Dirt Devil vacuums being inferior...I also have Dirt Devil vacuum on which the belt breaks easily, and as far as the vacuum itself functions, it's the most expensive, worst excuse for a vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. It has double cyclonic canisters which are supposed to never lose suction; well it can't lose something it's never had! It won't even vacuum up pet hair or leaves that blow in through the door!!

    Fire, Fire, Fire!!!
I have a dirt devil that is only 2 years old, I used it and sparks began to shoot out from the front grill area. I called dirt devil's corporate office, and was told that with out my receipt there was nothing that could be done and since I only paid $39 for the cleaner I should just get another one.

This product is a fire hazard!!!!!!!!  I was vacuming near my bed when the sparks began, I find it unbelievable that this was taken so lightly.
I called target to notify them of the issue as well.
If my home had burned down would that have changed the level of service I received?

I expected to at least have the product serviced at no charge or a discount coupon to replace to vacum cleaner if I could not find my receipt.

DON'T BUY DIRT DEVIL VACUUM'S!!!! I purchased a very expensive vacuum about a year a go and it lost the suction power on the fist month!! and it totally sucks!! :( My husband warned me about it and I did not listen, and now I have to first sweep with my regular $1.99 dollar broom (it does a better job than that stupid vacuum) then I past the suction less vacuum and not only that but it also over heats too soon!! DON'T BUY DIRT DEVIL VACUUM'S....THEY DON'T WORK!!!

I bought a new Dirt Devil upright recently.  The switch fell apart after less than a month.  I lost the piece that broke off.  The rest disappeared into the machine
I called the service number and gave up waiting after 10 miinutes.  Then I called the local "authorization service center."  The 4 year warranty is worthless - I was told they had been through the drill before with the factory and they woud not authorize repair under warranty without the missing broken piece of plastic.
Royal/Dirt Devil has lost my me and me and two sons' and their families as customers for life.  The company will not honor a legit claim, let alone preserve good will.

So they call Royal Appliance and its local representative the "customer service" for Dirt Devil...I have spent more of my personal time on these people that I have now told them to give the new replacement to charity and send me a letter advising me who they gave it to...they have no Canadian service which would be far superior and Americans wonder why their economy is dying...the sad comment on all this is that if you wait in the area of an hour for an answer then it is a serious commentary on the quality of this product...and in case anyone thinks that they should go out and pay more for a Hoover, well it is the same customer service...Bissell is the only choice I understand...lastly, for Eastern Ontario Canada customer, stay clear of Peterborough Vaccum as they are seriously indicative of the whole Dirt Devil system...the owner could care less and I would love to see his home if he feels someone does not need a vacuum for 5 plus weeks...I am now on the phone waiting and I have now spent 50 minutes and nothing...at the price of my time I could have bought 3 of them and the only reason I a pursuing it is out of the curiosity of just how bad they actually are...my belief is buy Canadian or European until the Americans get it that it is the customer who keeps companies alive...hence the reason they are a dying nation and the dirt Devil example is the reason for all American products...the last good Hoover came from Canton Ohio and Hoover was then outsourced like most American products and the reason I see is the ineptitude of the population to ceate a decent product  anymore and this is  shown by frontline customer service......enough and I am still waiting.

just finally got through the system and got this fabulous person who is taking care of everything...it seems the base line and the dealer is the serious problem but if one is patient enough to get through to the Solon Ohio office they do the product proud...don't waste time with vacuum dealers like Peterborough Vacuum or the front line customer service and get to the office I just got of from and found an American who really cares about people...the lady, Sharon, I believe was cool and amazing...Thank you whoever and if people who matter read this, this lady should be running the show and irrate customers may be a thing of the past.

I just replaced my dirtdevil with a bissell.  I had the sparks from the motor problem.  It just started all the sudden, and looks like an electrical problem. It was just under 1 year old, but I really hate dealing with incompetent bureacracies.  I just bought the bissell on sale for $70, and it is definitely better.

By the way, what is it with invasive warranty registration questions?  I just want to have the warranty, not a background investigation!
