I own Dirt Devil vacuum and the belt broke, so I went directly to dirtdevil.com to order a replacement. On they site they promiss to process all orders within 1-2 business days - I have placed my order on August 9 and it was shipped only on August 24 !!!!! and I got it only on August 31.

And when I finaly got it, I found that they send me wrong size belt - not the one I have ordered !!!

I WAS NOT ABLE TO VACCUM MY CARPETS FOR ALMOST 1 MONTH !!! And now according to their policy I have to ship that belt back to them on my own expence and wait for the refund for 3 weeks and they are still not returning me money I paid for shipment !!!

Dirt Devil could give a CRAP about "customer service"  -  OR their vacuum products.

I ordered a replacement filter through THEM instead of on Amazon (like I SHOULD HAVE) to give them the benefit of "servicing" a customer! (dahhh) Well, I was promised this new filter by 1/13/11. It is today the 20th and NO FILTER. The original CSR I spoke with I thought was just a bit loopy. I had located the product online before he did! He gives me the Corp. number  -whatever. I called THEM and was on-hold for an eternity (and wasting cell minutes no less). I have tried their CS line THREE TIMES NOW. No resolution.

I have read a couple other customer review boards on these clowns. NEVER AGAIN will another DD vac ever grace my house. I'm done dealing with these a********. Their service is for the birds. They could give a s*** about you. All their Corporate sharks care is that households are PURCHASING their vacs. F***** everything thing else. And WE are financing their mortgages for garbage service.

    Enough said.

Yes I did. I tried ALL the local chain stores (Walmart, Target, etc) None carry the larger generic filter my Stick Vac requires. So, went that route already!

    Thanks anyway  ")

Dirt Devil Service and Repair just don't exists. They just don't stand behind their product and don't care.

Our dirt devil handle broke in less then five months.
It's been five months waiting for parts. FIVE MONTHS!!!

35 minutes on the phone with home office.  It's constant wait wait wait
on HOLD.  That's time I pay for. Just waiting for parts .

What kind of Company can't repair or provide parts for their own stuff?

Just send the parts to me I can fix it better and faster.

I bought an Easy Steam cleaner but I can't find the dirty water tank on it.  The instruction manual was also vague and poorly written.  Having read the other complaints here, I regret buying a Dirt Devil.  Next time I'm able to shop at an appliance store, I'll be sure to do my homework first and buy a more reputable company's cleaner.

Why didn't you have their repair center look at it? Sounds like you had a faulty brushroll or motor housing. They would have fixed the housing or replaced the cleaner if that was it. I love my DD. Cleans better than my Dyson did!

I bought an upright dirt devil 10 amp, quick power compact vacuum cleaner in November 2010.It is now April 2011,that is 5 months. Now the on and off button won't stay on....it cuts off and jumps to the off position.I have to hold the button down in order to vacuum....also the electric cord gets warm. What do I do about this? I do know one thing...after talking to others I for one will NEVER buy another dirt devil product of any type!!!

Got my third vacuum less than a year ago. I thought I would buy another dirt devil since I had so much luck with the last one (It lasted about 14 years and only changed the belt maybe 5 times in that span). Too bad they don't make them like they used to. My new one just died. Went to plug it in and nothing, absolutely nothing. Definately not worth the $130.00 on sale that I payed for it.

I have a DirtDevil Featherlite.  It worked fine for about 6-months, now every time I use it, the belt breaks.  It is supposed to automatically adjust to the floor so I should not have it set too low.  And not like I have different types of carpet levels, it is the same carpet in the living room and bedrooms.  I took the thing apart last time, cleaned it from top to bottom.  A new belt from a new location because I thought maybe the store they were from last time they were old, replace a half empty bad with a new bag.  Turned it on today, the thing broke the belt in about 20 seconds.

I realize I did not pay much for it but I did expect it to last a bit longer than 6-months.  And I am not about to pay a ton of money to buy new parts for the thing or take it somewhere for service.  Last time I did that with a Hoover, they told me it was not under warranty because "it was dirty." Nice to know we live in such a throw-away world where we recycle cans but a DirtDevil hits the curb in six-months.

dirt devil.... sparked fire , belt broke, put on new belt and got new $20.00 plus filter...still sparked fire and was told by repair man not to use or let anyone else use..it was dangerous.  It actually burned several small places in my carpet..repair man said when belt broke it got a small piece in the motor he could see but could not get out.....just trash the thing.... which I did ....

I have the same experience, this stupid belt in my new vacuum cleaner again broke. They purposely design it cheap so that people keep ordering more & more of these parts. I cannot believe that we cannot design a strong belt while we can send a man to moon & beyond. This really sucks & the hassle involved. You devil !!

Dirt Devil vacuums are poorly designed. The hose gets clogged and there is no good way to clear it.  The hose is attached to the vacuum and can't be cleaned.

I needed a vacuum because my favorite electrolux hand held up right stick finally died.  I bought the easy light cyclonic upright vacuum.  It is just terrible. It does not SUCK. I have wood floors and it hardly picks up anything. It runs right over crumbs and passes over all other items like: pine needles, sprinkles, paper scraps, etc.
It is just terrible. It isn't work taking home, assembling and walking around your house pullling it. It doesn't suck up anything.
