I own Dirt Devil vacuum and the belt broke, so I went directly to dirtdevil.com to order a replacement. On they site they promiss to process all orders within 1-2 business days - I have placed my order on August 9 and it was shipped only on August 24 !!!!! and I got it only on August 31.

And when I finaly got it, I found that they send me wrong size belt - not the one I have ordered !!!

I WAS NOT ABLE TO VACCUM MY CARPETS FOR ALMOST 1 MONTH !!! And now according to their policy I have to ship that belt back to them on my own expence and wait for the refund for 3 weeks and they are still not returning me money I paid for shipment !!!

The belt on my Dirt Devil breaks about every second or third use.  I was looking to see if there is a remedy for this problem but all I see is a whole bunch of people with the same issue and no remedy

I bought a Dirt Devil about 3 years ago. I didn't have any problems with it until about a week ago. It would pick up the stuff on the carpet then spit it back out. So, last night I bought a Dyson and got a GREAT DEAL. It's VERY light and quiet.

It spits out dirt from the side because dirt is trapped in that side. You have to clean it throughly for it to stop spitting up dirt as you vacuum

David.......  I don't know for sure what the model number was for my Dirt Devil, it was the 'pet hair' one.....  But it also heated up enough that I wouldn't really say it caught fire, but it was smoking pretty heavily, and probably would have caught fire if I hadn't of unplugged it immediately.  As it was, the plastic pieces on the bottom had melted.  This is the second vacuum of the same model that I have owned, since the first one was also defective.  My friend bought one the same time I did, and also has taken her first one back (the same time I did) and now HER second one is not working right (shuts off and won't start back up, or simply won't SHUT OFF AT ALL).  I took mine back to Wal-Mart and they refused to return it (I somehow lost the receipt this second time around) but they said they could return it to the company, and the company would contact me within a couple of weeks.  Well, it's been two months, and nothing.  I called the company, and was transferred to customer service, where I waited on hold for more than a half hour before I finally gave up.  I have called back 3 more times, with the same results.  I have no idea where to turn from here.  I am spreading the word to EVERYONE I know, DO NOT BUY A DIRT DEVIL!

Hey all! Just found this posting online and wanted to reply to it as many of you have chosen to do. I own 2 Dirt devil vacuums  and a Dyson vacuum. 2 of the 2 were given as gifts to me while one of the dirt devils was purchased by me. I just wanted to say that the oldest Dirt devil which is a swivel glide out performs my newer vacuums in suction as well as ease of use. It will literally pull the carpet up if your not careful the suction is hurricane force. now onto the Vision and dyson the vision and dyson have about the same power you must go over an area at least 2x sometimes 3 to do a thorough job of vacuuming. Maybe you all are trying to get your vacuums to perform like a $2500 Kirby. If so give it up! Improper belt installion will cause your belt's to break as well as having the cleaner set to low to the floor. Check those things before you decide to write negative comments online as to discredit a company. Just my OP

Idiots like you make it a nightmare for American dealers to run their stores.  You purchase a 50.00 product, and expect for us to drop the paying customers, and serve your ass right away. Good deal right with the factory-it saves us from dealing with welfare loosers like you.  I bet you fight with every service center because your the only one in the world!  LOOSER!!!

Dirt devils are made in cleveland, oh usa which explains the poor quality and belt breaking issues. the belt is constantly falling off. every time i call, i get a different rep telling me in a thick foreign accent to do this/that--i am returning this junky american thing to caldors.
