I've had calls from this company day in and day out for weeks. They hang up as soon as I answer, and it's impossible to get to a representative once you call them back - they put you on hold for 20-30 minutes. When I finally got to a life person, she almost killed me with her question. She asked if I am happy with the service?!?!?! Wrong question to ask a person who was called and hung up on for weeks. I said NO!

    I got a call from the number 9834 1400, was wondering who it was and found this page! they also hung up on me as soon as i answered, i was going to call it back although i am now very glad that i didnt. Hopefully i dont get anymore through out the day!

    I got one of these calls just before and googled the number, stupid thing is, i got my handset direct from them, not crazy johns..

    I have had two calls within minutes from (03) 8831 1600. The first time the phone only rang once and the second time I answered and there was nothing but silence. Googled the telephone number which led me here. The fact that I got silence makes me think it could have been a bad connection and that the call was really coming from another country.

    several days after my last post above, I had one of these call that rang a while so I answered, and expected no-one there. To my surprise I eventually did get someone, and not only that, they talked to me - I told them about all the calls, and I have never had it happen since (about 10 days with none of the calls!)
    just letting anyone reading this know- THERE IS HOPE!

    I'm on a CDMA phone and have so much marketing guff to get me on to another plan, including calls. So you Crazy John's folks don't go feeling special - they also treat the rest of use with contempt. I'll moving of CDMA soon but it won't be to Telstra;]

    He didn't sound very professional... :S

    Thank you for starting this tread. I have a mobile phone  contract with Telsta – unlisted phone number.  Only in a case of emergency do I use this mob and only my children and Telstra have the phone number.  Recently I have been bombarded each day with phone calls from:-

    03 9274 1200
    03 8808 1400
    03 8808 1700

    The caller just rings, I do not answer [but I have to go to the phone when I rings thinking that it is one of my children] and they do not leave a message.  I am in very, very poor health and the whole idea of me paying for a mobile phone with an unlisted number, was for my convenience and my children’s peace of mind.
    Having Googled 03 9274 1200 and finding this thread, I now know that it is Telstra.

    In my previous thread I did not mention that I took out my mobile contract with Telstra through the Metro Woolworths at Town Hall – Sydney in 2002 and I do not know anything about a Crazy John’s.

    I have had 5 missed calls in the past 2 days from
    (03) 9834 2800
    (03) 9834 2900

    I have not picked up, hopefully they'll just stop

    i've also got missed calls from (03)88081700. twice today already.
    also yesterday i got a missed call from (03)88081600.

    i was never on a contract with crazy johns though.

    I've had two calls, one yesterday and one today from 98342300; googling led me here. Nobody has my number (which is only new) except my boyfriend, and the one company have sent my updated (with new number) resume too. I thought that I had missed a call from them - until I came here of course. My phone is  a plan direct from Telstra.

    i got the exact same number! 9834 2800. i searched it on google & found this site.
    im so annoyed.
    theyve called 4 times in the past 6 hours & one of the times i picked up the phone only to hear silence on the other side. Ive still got another 6-7 hours till i should go to bed & im guessing i'll get another 4 or so calls!
    should telstra even be doing this?
    if i'm getting charged for these calls i swear i'm going to SUE telstra! Contact today tonight!! you should! im so annoyed at the moment!
    these calls are all from melbourne if im not mistaken?

    thankyou for raising my awarness & assuring me that IM NOT THE ONLY ONE GETTING STUPID CALLS FROM TELSTRA!

    I just type in the phone into Google and found this page.

    I have got 10 calls in 2 days.  Each time the let it ring 3 times only, the one time I manage to answer they hung up.  I didn't know who it was or why they wouldn't just leave a message.

    Teltra the communications company that can't even communicate a basic phone call.

    Totally agree - The calls started yesterday when I had 5 missed calls from various numbers, and so far have had 3 today.  I'm not sitting on hold so they can ask if I am happy with their service - what a stupid question!

    Happened to me too today. No one on the end of the line even though I could hear noise in the background. Number was 0398342800.
    I was worried because I'd just done a series of phone payments with my visa card!!!! Then the phone rang straight away with this silent idiot!!
    Annoying thing is that even when I slam down the phone, they stay on the line and so my phone line cannot be used. In the end, I recorded a message on a tape recorder in a cheesy American accent saying 'this phone call is being traced....this phone call is being traced'
    You know what - they hung up then. I've also repoted it to the government website as mentioned above.

    Yeah I spent a week in melbourne during which these calls started. same story but managed to get through once. As someone mentioned earlier, sounded very unprofessional. I was apparently overcharged and he was putting credit into my account. He didn't ask for any details but it all seems a bit suss.
