Continuous calls from Telstra
Complaint

Country: Australia
I've had calls from this company day in and day out for weeks. They hang up as soon as I answer, and it's impossible to get to a representative once you call them back - they put you on hold for 20-30 minutes. When I finally got to a life person, she almost killed me with her question. She asked if I am happy with the service?!?!?! Wrong question to ask a person who was called and hung up on for weeks. I said NO!
The numbers I've been called from:

My phone has rung all morning with these numbers - When he finally stopped disconnecting and finally spoke to me, I found out it was Telstra wanting to know if I was happy with the service, because last time they spoke to me - I was rude and didnt want to talk to them. Well if they didnt have me jumping up and down all morning to answer the phone - I probably wouldnt be rude
Same deal here. Pick up the phone and no one is on the other end. Seeing that I am on my last 3 weeks of a 24 month contract with telstra, It's a probable guess they are hoping for me to call back to renew my contract. If this is in fact true, why dont they just say so straight out? Weird!
In any case, I certainly will not be signing up with telsra again.

Googled the numbers and found myself here, joining you lot!
Not f*cking impressed. It'd better not continue or Telstra might just loose my business.
Just googled one of the number which led me here
I've been getting 5 or 6 calls a day. Everytime I look at my phone there's another missed call from one of those numbers. It's frigging ridiculous!
I informed them of the missed calls I had received and the lady there suggested something must have been wrong with their dialer. No, really? I don't believe they hadn't heard of it before I mentioned it...
Anyway, the calls do stop once you've actually heard from a person from Telstra.
Cheers, Richard
"Thank you for your email dated 16/04/08 regarding the telemarketing calls you have been receiving.
Please accept our sincerest apology for any trouble or inconvenience this has caused you.
The calls that you are receiving are just notifications about the closure of CDMA this coming April. Please be advised that you can opt out with this kind of calls by calling us on 1800 039 059 Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (Australia Wide)."
I don't know why they'd be calling me about the closure of the CDMA network 'cause I'm not even on it but I called the 1800 number anyway so I should be taken off their list within 48 hours. I'll let you know how that goes.

AND I'm also with Telstra AND I registered with the National Do no call register. Im going to drop Telstra from all my phone accounts and encourage everyone I know to do the same.
The reason it hangs up when you answer is because it is from an automated
dailing system. To keep the call centre people at all those Telstra desks
working, the auto dialer keeps dialing numbers and then putting the call
through (once ringing) to the next Telstra call centre desk person in the
queue ... to keep them working.
If that person is on a call, the system with pass it to the next Telstra
person in the queue.
If ALL the Telstra desks are busy, and YOU answer your phone, it will just
drop out / hang up on you.
Now, because the system did not get through to you (that time), it will
just keep calling at different times until it gets through to you.
All they are calling for is because you (the phone number it keeps calling)
is out of contract .... and they just want to see if you would like to sign
up again under a new contract (and yes, I think most of the calls are
related to ex-Crazy John customers.
If you do call the number back, it will give you another number to call.
If you call that number, and you explain what happened, they will tell
you that you are just out oc contract, and they are just checking to see
if you want to sign up again on a new contract.
So nothing sinister .... just a stupid auto dialer to keep the Telstra
desk workers working !
this just adds to a very, VERY long list of bad personal experiences with telstra home phone, bigpond internet, and telstra mobile ...
03 8808 1700 is nothing more than harrassment by telstra marketing 'autodialers' ... call up telstra and tell them you want to opt out of all marketing garbage!
I'm getting a phone call once an hour and it keeps hanging up on me,
i tried calling telstra back on their customer support line, as soon
as i said i wasent with Telstra they hung up on me!
Whos in for class action???
I have never heard of "Crazy John".
I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know, also I don't think it's only about your contract because I still have one year left, I'm with the telstra next g network.
I feel this is a total outrage for those people who work late shifts during the night and must sleep during the day, and has there phone for emergency calls, and is woke by this irritable non-emergency calling.
Something must be done! if anyone is able to do something then please do it.

" 11. I don't want to receive marketing communications from Telstra. How do I ensure you do not contact me about other services?

Residential and Small Business Customers
If you only have fixed line services, if you have contacted Telstra on either 13 2200 / 13 2000, or 1800 039 059, a consultant will be able to action your request. You can choose from the following options:

Call them from the phone you are receiving the calls on and you get a voice recorded message that you speak to and you can cancel getting all types of telstra messages it took me 1 Minute and 37 seconds.
