This is the second year I have used this pool. It has been nothing but a big
pain. The filter is too small for the pool size and has to be cleaned every
day. This is not an easy task and is not user friendly. The plunger valve
assembly which turns off the water from the pool to the pump broke and the company is out of stock for the part. This makes it even more difficult to clean the filter and screen in the pump. And the parts department was not very helpful when I called to find out when the part would be available and what I was supposed to do in the meantime.

We have had a 18 x 48 east set for 5 years and love it!!!   We did go to a pool supply and purchased a real pump and it is clear as can be.   We put it on a timer to run 4 hours every evening.   We were told not to store pool in a shed or garage b/c mice will bit small holes in it over the winter months.   Our only problem is from sunscreen causing a ring on the inflatable tube that we cannot seem to get cleaned off.   Any suggestions?
We may purchase a larger pool this summer from Intex also!   It would be the metal-set pool.   Anyone have comments on those?

I have had the metal set for 8 years and love it. No problems. Except today, it sprang a leak. I will buy another one immediately. It was just getting old.

We go to a pool supply too for filters and they are much better than the Walmart ones.  You can use these better ones all season, just hose it out. Love our pool - and we do not work for Intex either!!!

We have had both the Intex inflatable ring pool (15') and now purchased a 18' steel framed pool with the vinyl that has lasted for 4 years and as you all know the Az sun & heat can be brutal here.  We have NEVER had any problems with it other than the fine dust that comes from our famous dust storms is at times difficult to get up and requires you to vacuum twice that one day.  I do not know what these other people are doing to their pools!  We do however us the professional pool products from "Shasta Pools" that would be used in an in-ground pool. Makes a huge difference!! Also makes maintaining it easier we only treated and vacuumed once a week as long as we had not had a dust storm. In fact we just sold it in a yard sale 2 months ago and are buying another one this spring.  We all used it everyday and LOVED it!!!  No complaints here!!!!!

We have an intex 18x4 metal frame pool. After two months of green water, and spending way yo much on chemicals to put into your swimming water, we decided to purchase an after market pump.

To be honest its the best $500 we ever spent. We purchased a Dream Line High Rate Sand Filter, Model S170TSCP, approved for either fresh or salt water.

We barely use any chemicals anymore, other than chlorine, the sand filters everything out, including algae. The pump has a "backwash" feature, so you just slip it into backwash mode and all the sand is turned upside down inside the tank and it spits all the crap out onto the grass via a separate water outlet for the backwash.

This is a great and cheap pool. Admittedly the pump included sucks butt, but with a good after market pump like the one i mentioned, its one of the cheapest, above ground pool systems on the market.

hope this helps you..my weekends are now spent swimming instead of cleaning my pool, or running to the pool supply for chemicals!

Sounds like you tried setting up on a sloping surface...move it to level ground.

We have the 24 by 52 inch intex pool and could not be happier.....used it all last year, took it down because we did  not have it quite level and will be putting it back up soon with a bit more sand in the low place.  The salt water filter is the best thing going....never bought any chemical's.....water was clear all summer long!

We invested in the salt water filter.  It was pricey but we use no chemicals and the pool maintains itself.  WE just replace the filter every few weeks.  I love it.

I saw on a complaints board that you bought replacement hoses for your intex pool at lowes.  All I see at Lowes in a 3' Vaccum hose.  Is that what you bought?  Did it fit ok?  Mine is cracked and needs replacing ASAP.  Thank you!

    love my pool
i love my pool if you take care of it, it is no problem, i have had thee in the past 10 years graduly getting bigger. i love it and have not had any problems out of them. you can vacume it, most sizes even come with a vacume. If you test your water, and add shockit when needed and change your filters, it will stay clear all summer long without adding any other products to it.

The problem with these pools are 1) The filter is much too small to handle the amount of dirty water.  You must hose the filter frequently in oder to keep the pool looking good... and 2) The leg end caps are total crap.  Mine broke from the weight of the water pulling down on them.  I cannot believe they made them out of cheezy plastic instead of something that will last.  I guess thats how they make tons of cash... from replacement parts.  I asked them to send me a new set of end caps at their expense... lets see what happens.

The sun creates the algae. If the PH level is too high algae will grow. Buy a floating device and put in chlorine tablets in it. I have one inch tablets and put in six. Add a couple to the filter area if filter has plastic grid in the middle with screen across it. Put shock in the pool, buy a few bags and shock it each day three times. The water will look blue and silty but you must run the filter 24 hours for 3 days. Add muriatic acid to get the ph down. Put one cup into a bucket of new water and mix gently. Try not to get it on your hands but if you do just rinse hands in pool. This will get PH way down. Change filter first day and throw away. add new filter and wash out the next day. Third day your water will be much better. Get a cheap water testing kit to check the PH and Alk. I had to do the very same thing and now it looks like new water. I keep the cover off the pool and skim it. The rain or pool cover helps create the algae from heat. Good luck.. Yes the pool filter is underrated for the pool ...go on ebay and get a better pump and filter set up. That will save money quickly after initial expense. It's all about filtration and ph.  GOOD LUCK.

I posted above you post about green water. This is not the pumps fault completely. The PH is way to high and algae will grow. SHOCK the pool for about three days with the packets from Walmart. muraitic acid will lower the PH and add chlorine tablets to floater or in your filter center if it has plastic mesh interior. Throw away the filter from the first day with green water. Wash new filter 2nd day but run pump 24 hours for three days. Read my other post. Hope this helps.

If it's cloudy add shock to it. RUN the pump 24 hrs. not the crap they say in the video or instructions. The pump is too small and doesn't do the job well. Yes a pump that works will cost about as much as the pool but ebay will help. You get what you pay for and the pool is better than the pump. Had mine for two years.

Shock is used to take out the unclean minerals that cause different problems. Well water is fine but like any other water needs to be treated. The water here from my hose has perfect PH and well water might have a higher ph value causing algae gren or yellow water. I have been through heck and back trying to figure out the water quality and working with the underrated pump my pool came with. run the pump as long as possible for a few days...24 hrs. if you can. Rinsing out the filter each day thouroughly.

My pool is 4 feet by 18 feet. The pump that came with it does not work at keepin it clean by any means. So I bought a sand filter pump from a friend  its a little big BUT it works now LoL no problem at keepin it clean now. Its as clean as the the day I FIled it and I use hardly any shock any more. I love it now.

This is the third summer we have used our 4ft X 18ft pool and we love it! No I do not work for Intex and we have the same pump we started with. We shock our pool every week as it states in the instructions. We change the filter evrey 3 weeks as the directions state you should. We keep a chlorine tab in the blue cover that covers where the pump pumps out into the pool. We test our pool often with test strips to keep up on the chemical level and our pool is clean and clear. We vacume a couple of times a week and my family has enjoyed our pool emmensly. When this one wears out if it does before we are done with it we will purchase another one. Sorry about everyone's bad luck.
