This is the second year I have used this pool. It has been nothing but a big
pain. The filter is too small for the pool size and has to be cleaned every
day. This is not an easy task and is not user friendly. The plunger valve
assembly which turns off the water from the pool to the pump broke and the company is out of stock for the part. This makes it even more difficult to clean the filter and screen in the pump. And the parts department was not very helpful when I called to find out when the part would be available and what I was supposed to do in the meantime.

I will never ever buy another product with the name INTEX on it. I bought my pool May 27th 2008 from Zellers for 447.00 Canadian dollars. A 15' round metal frame pool. We got it set up, had all the chemicals correct because I took a water sample to the local pool and spa guy. Pump did not work (Model # 637 FILTER PUMP). Intex replaced the original pump which took three weeks to arrive. So we had to drain the pool (16,000+ litres), cause short of me getting into the pool daily and stirring it with a large stick, we had nothing to push the water around to filter it. We had to re-tamp the ground, which cost yet another 45.00 dollars in rental fees...cause like I have a tamping machine sitting in my back pocket. So, now it gets better. We set our pool up this year, pool took about 10 hours to fill. Put the pump in, check the skimmer, new filter, chemicals were added, and low and behold...the pump doesn't work! I phoned Intex, June 14th, 2009. They were closed. I phoned back on the 15th the monday, spoke with a lady, and she told me that because I purchased my pool on May 27th 2008, I was just outside the warranty. I explained that this pump was the replacement pump, and I even had a file number with INTEX, you know what she told me? Oh, I am sorry Ma'am, you are one day past your warranty on that pump! So they wouldn't warrant it.
So you can imagine, I was completely choked. So I get some guy friends to take apart the pump to see what's wrong with it. The impeller is made of plastic. It had worn through...now let's keep this in mind, I live in Canada on the west coast. We get a lot of rain here. The pool was only up from mid June '08 (remember-replacement pump didn't arrive till mid June) to mid September '08 and was properly dried and packed away in a dry shed for the winter...So i phoned Intex, have you guessed it? The impeller is the only part that YOU CANNOT buy!!!
So the pump only worked for 3 months. I made a report to the BBB, which they attempted to contact INTEX, but INTEX would not respond. I tried putting in a call into the manager at INTEX, I got no response back.

I had to go buy a Hydro Force Pump for my Intex pool, cause why would I buy another Intex product? I would have to be nuts.

Rude customer service representatives, cheap and crappy products. Just stay away from INTEX Pools. They do not back their products. Next time I buy a pool, I will save my money and get a real above ground pool from a quality pool/spa place.

I have the 14'x42" pool. The ring valve is leaking. We have tried everything even duct tape around it to no avail. Any suggestions?

Happened to me too, I had put the ring on the wrong side of the cap. The ring should go in first, between the unit and the cap. I had put it between the cap and the screw-down part. See if that is what is wrong with yours.

boy there are some idiots in this world,,look if your not at least a little handy then this isnt for you,,i love it when somebody spends 1/10th of the cost of a REAL pool and then gets mad when it isnt as good as a REAL pool,i had no problem matching up a set of hoses from lowes, just take the end of the old hose and get something the same size that you can clamp back to pool.they sell it by the foot.oh and by the way the sand and sun version isnt even made by INTEX,so do a little research next time, intex is the best brand for these pools and sand and sun is a cheap walmart knock off since they dont wanna carry intex anymore

because if the sand shifts your gonna have a leaning easy set pool which of course means 1500 gallons in the yard,,common sense,

IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS THEN THERE IS A 90% CHANCE ITS BECAUSE YOU MADE A MISTAKE WITH SET UP.IM SORRY BUT THATS JUST THE FACTS,PROPER SET UP AND MAINTINENCE HAS CAUSED MY POOL TO LAST FOR 5 YRS NOW AND NO I DONT CONSIDER REPLACING THE HOSES TO BE A PROBLEM,IT ONLY SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM FOR THE PEOPLE THAT WORK UPTOWN BEHIND A DESK AND WANNA PLAY HANDY MAN ON THE WEEKEND

its easy to vaccum it has an attatchment that goes on the skimmer hook the hose up to it, if the mesh bag is ripped use an old white sock works perfect

You can go online and order the parts so then you won't even have to speak with the parts department.  the address is http://www.intexcorp.com/main.html. hope this helps with the parts issue

We have a Sun and Sand pool we love it. But it is hard to keep clean and we're having a hard time finding the right stuff for it.I really didn't think it would cost so much to keep up. Next year we may go with something differnet.

I have an 18' x 48" Sand and Sun pool, this is the 2nd year I've had it and I really like it, but I am having a terrible time keeping it clean. I had a real algae problem at first, got that taken care of, but now have a lot of debris and stuff on the bottom of the pool and the filter just won't keep it clean. And the water is cloudy all the time. I keep chlorine in it and shock it, but still have problems. I have the filter and pump that came with it..are they too small for this pool? Any suggestions?

I have had the pool for two summers.  The hoses cracked and we replaced with BILGE pump hose from Lowes. works fine.  My problem now is a leak in the inflatable ring which does not appear to be hole, could it be between the stitching connecting the ring to the pool? Any ideas how we might fix it.  Is there an adhesive sealer that would be waterproof?

    I purchased a intex pool 24 x 48 for $ 746.18 and purchased a LEMON !!!!!!
I have had problems since it was put up..
I have patched, repaired holes and replaced hoses for 3 summers now and I am sick of it....The valves have been replaced twice each summer.
The parts have to be ordered of which takes a week to get to you and the pool will turn green while waiting on parts and you have to start all over with chemicals of which is not CHEAP..
SOOO I took the LEMON down and purchased a REAL pool.
Please dont purchase a INTEX pool....go ahead and make the investment and buy a REAL pool....you will save in the long run.

I feel the same way you do...I finally invested in a REAL pool and will never buy anything else with INTEX on it either.
I Paid $ 746.18 for a INTEX Lemon that lasted 3 summers with more holes in the pool than I have on my body..Purchased enough filters and replacement parts to actually buy a REAL pool.
I was constantly working on this pool and could not take it anymore and invested in a pool from the my local pool supplier.
You would think  a $ 746.18 pool would last longer than 3 summers...

ditto.  Intex pool 15x48 2 summers and it's full of holes. I have spend my holidays fixing the holes... still leaking. I'm just about fed up with it. I have followed all the steps for setting it up, spent a fortune on chemicals and the rest... what do I do with mine, throw it in the rubbish because that's the only solution now. very sad

He it goes you can not use these cheesy cartrige filter pumps that come with the intex pools .If you have the 16 or 18 and esp the 24 round pool you must get the sand filter . I know the pools are cheap. But if you dont buy the sand filter & pump asy {the intex one is good] because you dont need to buy any attachments.

I bought a new intex pool this year. It has been nothing but a pain. I bought it for my disabled daughter so I could do water therepy with her. I contacted the company and got the run around. They wanted me to jump through so many hoops it was unbelieveable. I'm so disatified and the company is not helpful. I definetly will not buy another intex pool and i'm telling everyone else I know to not buy one either.
