I used to love shopping at Ross Dress For Less. Not any more. Every time I go there, no matter where or what state, the floors are littered with merchandise, broken hangers, items on the floor everywhere, dirty and wrinkled  merchandise.

The stuff is never helpful and friendly. There is always just one cashier and a line of waiting angry customers. I don't understand how this chain of clothing stores stays in business. I left the store empty handed last weekend because I just didn't have the time to wait in a line that stretched almost to the back of the store.

When we realized that the store is not opening other registers for us, I and other shoppers left the  merchandise we wanted to buy and left.

I really hope they will make the necessary changes.

I wouldnt say i was discriminated against. but ross seems to have different standards for different managers. I have seen store managers break every single policy and get a pat in the back and then managers that make a human mistake/error and get fired or written up. If you kiss ass to the store manager and district manager you have ajob if not theres the door.

I couldn't agree anymore. I am a former Ross Manager. I made one error and I was fired for it. I knew a couple of kiss a** managers that would go against policy and still have a job the next day. I really do hate Ross. I warn everyone not to work for this company, they will chew you up and spit you out. In my tenure with Ross I really didn't mind my job until the last few months of my employment. I hated how they would bring people from outside the company and give them more money than you they were  you meanwhile you had more experience in retail and management then they did.The reason why the lines are so long is because they don't give you enough payroll and if you do go over budget we could possibly lose our jobs. I was a manager that was constantly on register, despite the DM telling us we could not be on a register. I can say more but I won't

    Ross in Raleigh

The Ross in Raleigh NC Triangle Town Center location is a complete EEOC nightmare! First, there is not a single employee that is not African American. I am not a racist person, but I can't help but notice several cases of discrimination towards Caucasian woman. To name one case, I waited patiently in one of the typical Ross long lines and when it was finally my turn the African American employee reached across my body and items intended for purchase to hold her hands to accept an African American woman's items. When I said "ummm excuse me I am clearly the next in line" she said "no you're not, she is." I asked to speak to a manager and she told me you are speaking to the manager. The next week a woman was KILLED at that Ross fighting over who was next in line. Let me reintegrate hit so hard by another person she died when her head hit the floor!   Instance number 2, one time I was waiting outside the dressing rooms for my friend who tried on 3 pairs of black pants. As she was walking out trying to get the hangers back on another African American just handed the dressing room attendant a bundle of clothes and a handful of hangers that did not hold said bundle of clothing. As my friend is trying to get her pants back on the hanger the employee stops her rudely and says "You'll need to hang those back up!" To start she was trying to hang them back up but the employee felt like belittling her before she was finished, and lastly as the dressing room attendant isn't your effing job! You sure as hell didn't mind helping the other black lady hang hers. Okay, so my last instance I am going to list happened today. My mother was waiting in yet again another crazy long line and when she was next in line an employee opened a register and said the next person in line may come to that register, so my mom being the next person walked to that line (by the way the only Caucasian person in the store at that time) and the employee had the nerve to say to her "you are not the next person in line" and my mother said yes I am and then the African American rent a cop comes over and says you are not the next person in line and my mother is just appalled by this. She is an honest hard working person that waits her turn. Needless to say she left her items there and refuses to EVER return to that Ross and now neither will I.

    Why did I apply.
The Ross Store management sucks, and they are very disorganized when it comes to scheduling hours per week as they call you in to ask if you can work probably due to workers leaving all the time.  I ended up working at the store for a short time and they make you work like a slave for minimal pay.  They definitely take advantage of people who need work, since they know in this economy that most people will take their crap since they need to work. If you are thinking of applying, I would not recommend it unless you are desperate.

You are right, the management are very disorganized with the schedule.  I have worked many years in retail and never seen  a store like this.  The managment does not care if the merchandise is on the floor.  The management make you work 12-17 hour shifts and 12 days in a row.  The management team seem like they are not properly trained to do their job.  A brand new store in the Chicagoland area already looks like [***].  I do not want to say which store in the Chicagoland area.  They are demanding people.  They got a woman to cry because she was tired from the long hours and was too tired to work any longer.  They did not want her to go home after working 8 hours.  There has got to be a better store to work at.

Awful customer service. I would like to preface this by saying that I have been a long time and frequent customer of Ross stores. I have been somewhat un-impressed by the service of the Ross store at Montgomery Plaza in Fort Worth but as it is the closest store to me, I continue to go there. Today in particular though, was the last straw. I went to the front and found one line open where there were about 8 people in line, some of them purchases and some returns. There was a loss prevention person standing nearby, another employee straightening items on a table, and an employee who had unlocked the case with the watches for someone to look. I to this employee (at the case) "excuse me, would it be possible to open another register because this line is so long?" She did not respond to me but called to the girl who was working the only open register "call your backup." The girl called on the PA "Jocelyn to your register." I went and stood over by the other register and waited for her to come. More customers came and the original line got longer. The employee by the case locked it up and went to another part of the store. Another employee came in and clocked in on a register and went away. I was waiting by an empty register for Jocelyn to come. I asked the employee who was straightening things at the table "Is there someone else who can come open a register?" She said "If she called someone then they will come. I said "it has been over ten minutes and no one has come." She did not look at me and continued to work on the table. The original cashier got back on the PA and said "Gekka (something that sounded like that) to your register." The girl at the table stopped what she was doing, did not say anything to me, and walked over to the line and said "I can take the next customer at register 3." I went over to that register (which is where I had been waiting before.) and she said "No, I will take the the next customer. You have to get back in line." Because I had been waiting over 15 minutes for someone to come, I had not stood in that line and the line had gotten longer. Additionally, because I had to leave the line TWICE to ask a nearby employee, who easily could have seen for themselves that another cashier was needed, if they could call someone, I now had more people get in line in front of me. I put my things down on the counter and left. With all the employees that I encountered, not ONE seemed to care a hoot about my experience in the store, whether I purchased or not, and none could even be bothered to make eye contact with me or even be polite. I get much better customer service next door at Marshall's where there is even a sign that says "ring this bell if I gave you great customer service!" Obviously they care about the customer experience at that store but I am not treated that way at Ross.

I have the worst experience in ROSS store Rockville today. I needed help in the jewelry and watch section to shop for gifts with my mother.  It took a long while for someone to come up to help us in the counter, Finally someone came, he was doing cashier and left the register to help us. While we are choosing he was in a hurry. We already choose two watches decided to buy it  and we are looking for more, He started to be mean, He didnt want us to touch the watches and told us that the policy one watch at the time and we dont know what he mean because we already chose the two he took it away and we wanted more, and there nothing in our hand. He was treating us so bad as if we are just wasting his time and we are not because we are buying and we are also customers. He was raising his voice to me and my mother repeatedly telling us "its the policy you can only see one watch at the time" the way he said it he was not explaining he was raising his voice and embarassing us to the other customers. It was a very bad experience. We left because he was mean, and he said "Thank you" in our language he knew where we came from it was insulting for me and my mother.  They dont have good customer service. WORST I have ever experience :(

The Ross in Cedarhill, TX. On FM1382 the managers are [***]. My sister said she had her daughter with her and got cut with all this glass that was in the floor. She wouldn't stop bleeding and instead of the manager helping her! He was breathing down her neck saying it was her fault for not watching her. My sister was so upset and says she was less than two feet away from her looking at some mirrors and my niece sat was looking at herself on one of the mirrors in the floor and when she went down there was glass everywhere in the floor and she got cut. The next morning my sister called the store and the morning to complain on the other manager. He tells her oh well she can put a complaint but it will just get dismissed. And refuse to give her the corporate office number. Little do these managers know that I myself work for an attorney and will make sure they regret everything they said and did. There is supposed to be cameras in every store recording so we should see. Who is to blame. They messed with the wrong person. Is managers like this that make stores go out of business.

yeah I agree with you rick, while I do like my store manager and the new district manager I feel like i'm always being singled out on making messes when i'm constantly having to fix [***] that customers are [***] up, even if i'm working in that area trying to make it look nice i'm always seeing people toss crap down. I don't say anything but i feel like i want to ring someone's neck. I work hard for the company because that's how I am. Pay is complete garbage too, I was making $7.50 at mcdonald's and $7.65 at wal-mart which i'm missing more and more each day =\.

Ross has lousy customer service.  There's never enough lines open!   I've left a cart full already.  If I picked up something I really wanted would weigh the advantages before I would stand in a 30 minute check out line.    The Posner Park Store in FL  is dirty as well.    Last time I complained about one register open and told the casher that just makes you work harder and have a lousy day.   She suggested I write to Ross.    Get with it Ross, if your store looks busy and there's line, I don't shop.  In this economic day Ross, you can't afford to lose customers like me!

First time I have ever been disappointed in Ross customer service...price tag said 8.99 and it rang up as 20.99 and the manager was so rude and did not honor the ticketed price.  I do not recommend the Ross at the rim in San Antonio tx...go to the one in huebner oaks.  Need to better train Arron on how to be a manager.
