From Kim

Hey Moron's.. Some of you are really stressed out about a few phone calls.

I used to work for iQor Canada Ltd. (formally CBCL) for about a year.
Here's the deal:

It IS a real company and they are not scamming anyone for personal info. What happens is numbers get reassigned sometimes as quickly as 4 months. Your best bet is to call the number back (iQor has several different offices for a total of well over 25 numbers in total - prob a load more, I just know about 25 or so.) Give them your number (they need this in order to trace where it is they are calling - they cannot remove your number if you do not tell them what number it is they are dialing seeing as how there are over a million in each of their databases). They will then use your number to bring up an account - if the name on the account is not yours, tell them that the number has been reassigned to you and that you would like it to be removed. They WILL do so and are required by law to remove ANY number (even if it is yours) if you tell them that you do not want any more calls agian. If the account that they find Is in fact in your name, then they have a collection issue with you. IF you refuse to cooperate and the account is yours, then they will follow up and look for their money, etc. If you honestly feel that you do not owe this money but all the info is yours, they will help you out with figuring out how to fraud account was opened.

So we are all Moron's?
WELL THANKS KIM. We can sure tell you used to work for iQor Canada Ltd. (formally CBCL) for about a year. But why only a year? Were you not rude enough to us consumers? Did you quit or get laid off?

I agree that this company is very unprofessional, not to mention very rude as well. I now reside in Alberta. They are harassing me on a daily basis, at the very least 2 times a day. I have answered & talked to a male that's VERY hard to understand, sounding like a Pakistan accent. I told them numerous times that I am financially struggling at the moment, but am well aware & will start sending in payments in a few weeks when I get paid. They still continue to call my number over & over & over again! The calls start at 7:30am everyday with at LEAST one more around 9pm. I've been woken up super early, answered the phone to only have them hang up on me as soon as they hear my voice. I've talked to them, been so frusterated telling them I'm going to take care of it & to please stop calling, to have the guy on the other end laughing at me. This is no laughing matter, I don't see anything funny about it. I have asked them numerous times to stop harassing me & calling constantly, but they just won't stop. I don't know what more they expect, I made the arrangements, the least they could do is stop calling long enough to give a person a chance to uphold the arrangements they made, THEN if those arrangements aren't met, I could see a reason for them to be calling. I have rights, and one of those rights is to not be harrassed. I have never experienced anything like this before and am at my wits end. I am thinking of taking some kind of further action, but don't know a lot about this kind of stuff. Do I contact their management, contact the company (Shaw Cable) directly and tell them what's going on? Should I lodge a complaint? I'm to the point where I'm going to tell them, until they stop harassing me, they won't get one dime of my hard earned money. I'm absolutely sick & tired of this. If anyone has some advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.

If you fax them a cease call letter under the collection act, they have to stop all call and send it via mail

IQOR Canada harrasing and collecting illegal debt from 19 year ago.

These scumbags are at it again. They used to be called Canadian bonded credits limited. They are just a bunch of illegal scamming theifs. You'd think this would only happen in the the third world but Iqor only hires third world employess so you get the same results. These [***] say that I owe "XXXXX"  $100 or so, when they were CBCL I told them 100 times I've never seen or heard of "XXXXX" , why would you come to me and ask me to prove that I had no dealins with "XXXXX" almost 20 years ago. So they continued to call and harrass 3 times a day 365 days a year.  Now these scumbag terrorist are back at it again, calling themselves IQOR. Is the GOVT of Canada and the CRTC [***] stupid. These illegal [***] tried to collect as company A and failed and now renamed themselves to company B and continue on. This is a [***] joke, how can a company just do that. Anyone  out there with CBCL or IQOR debt, please write to the CRTC, do not pay these scamming [***] 1 cent. They are 100% illegal, call their head office and you will talk to some immigrant trash who hangs up the phone as soon as you say "remove me"

    COLLECTOR
OK I HAVE READ ALL THE "COMPLAINTS" THAT ARE ON HERE.

I currently work for Iqor Canada.  The company is a collection agency.  If you have a file in the office it could be for any number of things. Clients range from- TD to POA (provincial Offences).

IF THE NUMBER WE ARE CALLING BELONGS TO THE DEBTOR
I know from working here as well as other agencies, that if a debtor asks for there number to be removed verbally over the phone we do not have to comply, however if you mail in a cease and desist letter we have no choice, as a debtor you need to provide a correct mailing address and request that all further correspondence be in writing.  If you do not provide this information we are able to continue to call to acquire the correct information. Ontario collections laws are as follows
    - calls before 7am and after 9pm are not allowed unless requested by the debtor
    - no more then 3 contacts a week- contact is defined as talking to the debtor or leaving a mess- it does not include no answers, or third parties that stated to call back later in the day.
    - no calls on holidays IE Christmas, new years, etc.
    - if you are on the phone with a person who is the debtor and id's themselves as the debtor IE "is John Smith home?" "John speak" but he then refuses to confirm the info on the file IE address DOB or at least 3 digits of SIN this does not count as a contact.
*note* a collector will not ask for this info unless it is already on the file- if we are calling about a TD visa we have all the info that TD had. We have your address your visa # you SIN and DOB- confirm 2 points and move on
privacy laws were put into place to protect you as well as us.

IF WE CALL AND ARE TOLD THAT WE HAVE THE WRONG #
    - when calling back to tell us that we do not have the right number, you need to provide the number that we are calling.  (We are not mind readers)
    - note that if a debtor had your number and it is new every time a new file is sent to collections chances are that number is the one that will go out on the file.  If today a file is assigned with your number and you ask for it to be removed, trust that it is but if next month a new file for the same person is assigned to the agency your number is sent with the file again as it is the last number the client had for you.
    - if you know who the debtor is IE mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter- give an alt# as your number stays on the file as a Next Of Kin.

Also 411.ca is used to reverse the numbers that are being removed or added to a file so if we call john smith at address 123 road in Toronto and we reverse that address and it states john smith 123 road Toronto lying and saying that you are not the debtor will not work.  The address is not made up in our heads it comes from the clients.

It is not against the law for a Credit card company, bank, cell, cable etc, company to give out your person information it is in the small print of every bill that you understand that if you do not pay your bills on time it will be sent to first the in house collections department to be "cured" if that does not happen then it is sent to the companies third party agency.

Lastly, whoever you owe money to will tell you to call and explain your situation, and they will do all they can to help you.  They lie your file is assigned out within 90 to 120 days past due to a collection agency.  As collectors we have to attempt to get payment in full, then if the client allows we can offer a settlement.  The last option is a monthly payment plan.  Seriously though if you default on , the credit card, the rogers account , the bell account, etc, why are we going to offer you a payment plan on an account when that was your option to avoid collections. Once your file is assigned to an agency you have 30 days to Pay in Full or it is listed as an UNPAID collection on your Credit Bureau.  Once you pay it off it changes to a PAID collection and it will list the date it listed with the agency, the agency was with and the date you paid it, this stays on your bureau for up to 7 years.

    @COLLECTOR

That's a load of garbage, I have no unpaid bills, no debt... Nothing. Yet you [***] still harass me every single day to pay a bill that whoever had my phone number last owed. I emailed and then called to explain that I'm not the person they're looking for, gave them my number and my name, and what do I get for my troubles? I get insulted, called a deadbeat, told that if I don't pay, I can expect "something" to happen to me and my family, and hung up on. And of course, the calls continue at all hours of the day and night (from 7AM till 11PM)...

Your practices are [***], the next of kin has nothing to do with someone's debt (if they even had any debt at all), you shouldn't be harassing them in the first place. Yelling, being rude, insulting and threatening people is nowhere near professional, yet the vast majority of you fuckwads do it on a daily basis, just because you have a [***] job that pays minimum wage that you can barely support your pathetic excuse for a life on doesn't mean you can call and threaten/insult strangers over the phone. Learn to have some [***] respect, you might actually get a more positive experience out of the call. Also, if someone asks who's calling, answer them, remember you called us, if you want anyone to hear what you have to say, identify yourself when asked, otherwise we have every right to hang up in your face. If you think I'm going to give away my SIN, credit card number, or any other personal information other than my name, especially to some random, rude, [***] who won't identify himself, you're sadly mistaken... Would you give out that information in the same situation? Yea, I didn't think so... So don't expect people to freely give out that information.

I honestly wish I could meet the sad, pathetic [***] who started insulting and threatening my wife and I (as well as our family) over the phone from your pathetic excuse for a company, I'll make damn sure he won't be able to pull that [***] on anyone anymore.

I just found out yesterday that IQOR is trying to collect a debt from me that I was unaware of that I had 8 years ago. It just mysteriously showed up on my credit bureau a few months ago, after 8 years! I have not been a customer of rogers for 8 years, I have never recieved any notice that I owe them money and it was never on my credit bureau! I'm beyond mad, and to top it off I waited on hold today for 70mins trying to talk to someone from this company and no one ever answered! I live in New Brunswick and can't really nail down a procedure to follow here, can anyone help?

Yup - I just had the same thing happen to me, and they continued to call me back asking for "Leann".  I have had this same phone number for over 2 years.  These idiots do not even have a manager that I can speak to directly, just some voicemail.

If they call me again, I am calling the police.

I have never heard of this company, but it is obvious that basic comprehension skills and the ability to dial a number properly or record information from previous conversations are not prerequisites for employment.

This company is driving me mad. They are chasing a $65 fee from 3 (yes three  years ago that was owing to Rogers when I have even faxed them a receipt from Rogers showing I was $127 in credit and Rogers said they were keeping that due to collection fees (I forgot to return a cable modem).
They ring me up to 5 times a day and have done for so long I can't recall. I keep telling them I am not paying it- I dont even live in the counrty anymore so dont really care about the credit rating that they tell me has been affected.....they will no doubt keep ringing and leaving messages and I now just ignore them and every now and then get sick of it and ring them and tell them again that I am not paying it so they can call all they like-by my calculations it has cost them more than $65 in calls to try and get this back- why dont they just give up?

For everyone owing money for past debts, understand that iqor is a collections agency that buys debts from companies like Rogers and HBC for pennies on the dollar.  They make money by trying to collect your outstanding debts for a lot more than they are worth and will resort to aggressive tactics to earn a substantial profit.  Even lying about taking you to court and sending fake letters from non-existing law firms, all to scare you into sending money.

Collections agencies are scavengers and are a multi-million dollar businesses, especially today where people were given loans that the credit companies knew you were never going to be able to repay.  It was designed like this and targets the average-income consumer.

The best thing to do is ignore them.  Completely deny any "debt" and tell them they have the wrong person.  DO NOT admit to any debt and simply hang up the phone.  In Ontario there is what's called The Statute of Limitations Act ( which limits the period of time that a debt become collectable.  That means after a certain amount of time it is illegal to collect on an outstanding debt, however the period starts all over again if you admit any knowledge of it.  I believe in Ontario it is six years.  Near the end of the period the collectors will try to collect again before the debt expires.  Do your research and see if your debt has defaulted or not.

What is the Statute Of Limitations Law In Canada?

March 4, 2003 decision of the Supreme Court of Canada decided that limitations applied to CRA as well as other Crown proceedings. Section 32 of the Crown Liability and Proceedings Act and Section 3 (5) of the BC Limitation Act BARRED COLLECTION of the Federal and Provincial portions of the debt since the debt was more than 6 years old.

The following is the Statute Of Limitations laws for the Provinces and Federal Government in Canada

British Columbia - Section 3 (5) of the BC Limitation Act sets 6 years as the limit for debt.

Alberta - The Alberta Limitations Act sets 2 years as the term which is extended to 10 years if there is a judgement.

Ontario - The Ontario Limitation Act 2002 , came into force on January 1, 2004. It sets two years as the term (Section 4). This limitation will be reinstated where the debtor acknowledges the debt or makes a partial payment towards repayment of his debt. If the default occurred prior to January 1, 2004, the creditor will continue to have 6 years to pursue the claim. However, if the default occurred after January 1, 2004 then the 2-year rule applies.

Federal - Section 32 of the Crown Liability and Proceedings Act sets 6 years as the limit for debt.
