Hey Moron's.. Some of you are really stressed out about a few phone calls.

I used to work for iQor Canada Ltd. (formally CBCL) for about a year.
Here's the deal:

It IS a real company and they are not scamming anyone for personal info. What happens is numbers get reassigned sometimes as quickly as 4 months. Your best bet is to call the number back (iQor has several different offices for a total of well over 25 numbers in total - prob a load more, I just know about 25 or so.) Give them your number (they need this in order to trace where it is they are calling - they cannot remove your number if you do not tell them what number it is they are dialing seeing as how there are over a million in each of their databases). They will then use your number to bring up an account - if the name on the account is not yours, tell them that the number has been reassigned to you and that you would like it to be removed. They WILL do so and are required by law to remove ANY number (even if it is yours) if you tell them that you do not want any more calls agian. If the account that they find Is in fact in your name, then they have a collection issue with you. IF you refuse to cooperate and the account is yours, then they will follow up and look for their money, etc. If you honestly feel that you do not owe this money but all the info is yours, they will help you out with figuring out how to fraud account was opened.

So we are all Moron's?
WELL THANKS KIM. We can sure tell you used to work for iQor Canada Ltd. (formally CBCL) for about a year. But why only a year? Were you not rude enough to us consumers? Did you quit or get laid off?

    to collector...
I got an automated call from an iqor Canada and that I should phone them back because of an urgent matter...
I did. I asked politely what the nature of their business was?  The response the person gave me was "can I have your phone number" My response was "I will give you my phone number if you tell me the nature of your business"...as you can tell this went back and forth several times with me refusing to give out my personal information.  Oh and by the way I phoned from my cell phone with out blocking it!!
Now I've had debt collectors after me about 10 years ago and first of all none of them used an automated phone system.  Second when they did talk to me on the phone the person had my information and asked me questions to confirm that he/she had the right person.  Third they introduced to me who they were, what they did, and who they were collecting for.  Therefore I had no problem answering personal information about myself.

So since that time I have gone through a debt consultation, a non-profit organization to help me out with my debt's  (I paid everyone back and had a bad credit rating for 6yrs)  Now I've re-built my credit rating and no longer have financial troubles.  Pay my bills on time etc.

So why would a Collection agency not tell me they are a collection agency without me giving them my phone number?
Do you not have call display at your phone centers? (cause I got nothing to hide I don't block my calls)
Oh and I did phone back several times asking what the nature of the business I'm calling and one response was "risk management company"
I also told the so called collector my name but refused to give my number and I still was not told that it was a collection agency.

I will refuse to deal with a company that uses this type of tactic.  Seems very fishy to me when all they have to do is look at their call display (especially when I point out that I'm calling from my phone).

My personal experience with debt collectors and in my opinion all bottom feeders with bullying tactics.  Sad pathetic way to make a buck and I'm guessing the employees working for them got interviewed in jail. Cause the methods being used are acts of organized crime.

If Iqor is ligit why won't they tell me what they do when I phone back?
Any ligit company has no issue's with saying what they do!

Hey "yourdad" these sites are aimed for consumers to relate and try to understand and solve problems. for example debt and collection agency harassment issues. Nobody wants to hear some under educated blithering fool to jump on these sites and say "you people need to pay your bills" if you like to be a clown maybe you can take a leave from iqor and jump on a circus train. Let me ask you if it makes you feel good knowing that iqor and other related companys actually drive people to suicide! I woulnt doubt it you people are present at the funerals just ready to snatch up the jewelry before they close the coffin!

Thanks for your time and have a great day.

Wow   I used to work in collections  and can tell you all  that the practices or IQor are illegal.  When someone calls your house and asks for your personal information they must disclose who they are, what kind of company they are and for what purpose they need your personal information.   IQor violates all these things.  They also have an extensive history of try to collect false debt on a global scale. This company exists in many different  countries.
When they called me and I asked who they were and what kind of company they were, they directed me to thier website.  I had already visited their website and I so informed them. I told them that all the website said was that they were a tech. company and I wanted to know why a tech. company would want my personal information.  This when they HUNG UP ON ME!!   Hmmmmmmm people sounds a lot like a scam to me.

To the lady that says she worked for them, obviously she is the idiot! She worked for a company that asked her to do things outside of the law and peoples basic human rights and she thinks they are okay and legit???  HellOOOOO??

Mr. "Smarty pants" Dave. The reason we do not tell you what company we represent or what business we do because of the Privacy Act. ...How would you like it if your new girlfriend or wife or friend is at your house when we call your home phone or your cell phone was answered by one of the above? you honestly want us to tell them that you owe money to a so and so company? Some of just bitched about us giving out private information and now you are complaining we dont give out enough information ... you guys are being unreasonable and plus we are forced by law not to give out info to 3rd party members. All of you people who complain here are self contradicting. You want us to bend both ways but not co operate at the same time on your part.
And yes i do agree some of the employees in Canada dont speak good English that does not mean you all get to be so racist about it. All of you are immigrants too so i do not know why you guys think you are true citizens and  they are not lol . So yeah they are new to Canada ... At least they have a job and pay taxes and live none the less. which is a lot more than what you most "true citizens" do anyways.
So you all need to be tolerant of people and stop being so full of your selves.

I also am being inindated with calls from this company. I can only assume it is an outstanding small visa bill debt from a past marraige of 18 years ago.  I paid most of it then lost my job.  Funny thing is all country's are in debt, companies/corporations are in debt. I lost my job because a very large corporation I worked for couldn't pay their bank debt, so they lay off 100+ people. Country can't pay debt, companies can't pay debt, but we the little people had better pay or they will harass us to death.  Not sure what the answer is, but they cannot get blood from stone.  The Gov't should mandate whether a company has sufficient means to lay off people whenever they feel. Usually within 6 months they rehire and then lay off again.  This roller coster of employment we live in is the cause of most peoples personal financial debt problems.

The wonders of Voip technology finally pay off.

My Voip router has the ability to forward up to 8 numbers to another number and block another one out entirely.  A quick search of the internet supplied me with the most common numbers that iqor calls from, so I have picked a forwarding destination number and now the calls have stopped.

Many numbers could be chosen for the destination.  The Better Business Bureau, your local politician, an annoying co-worker or right back to iqor themselves.  Even the company presidents home number (as posted earlier in this thread) .... the possibilities are endless.  Just use your best judgement in picking a number because forwarding to 911 or any other critical services may get you into more trouble than these jerks ever could.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few others have pointed this out earlier and it's important enough to repeat:
    1.  iqor does not have a contract with you and can not legally collect anything from you.
    2.  the only way to get into a contract with them is if you agree to it ... then you're screwed.  So watch what you say because they will try to trick you.
    3.  ask for proof of contract delivered to the address on file and request that all further correspondence be via mail ... period or no further discussion !!!
    4.  you are NOT obliged to provide them information about yourself.  However, you may require them to provide you with their name and nature of their business before you continue any further discussion.
    5.  record all conversations and inform the caller that you are recording it and are fully aware that they record all conversations as well.  This will curtail most of the under-handed practices they use to trick you into compliance/contract.
    6.  Be wary about strangers coming to your house asking "Are you <so and so>?".  If you answer yes then you will most likely be handed a suppoena to head to court.  Always reply "Who's asking and what's the nature of your business?".  Then make sure you tell them that "I must decline any offer of contract you're providing.  I do not wish to create any joinder with you"

I hope this helps out alot of you that are being harrassed by iqor.  Also, please consider punative action against iqor if they are bothering you without merit.

    Fed Up
I've been receiving these calls for about a month now. The first time I called back was for a speeding ticket that I had "received" from years before. Years before being when I didn't even have my licence, or a car for that matter, or a place I had ever been. I basically laughed at them and told them to call back when they have the correct information. They called back within minutes stating that I owed X amount of dollars. I asked when the ticket was issued, volunteered my birthdate and asked them to do the math. I would have been 12 when the ticket was issued. They stopped calling.

Then... Just when I think I'm done with the company, they begin calling again. Not just once a day, but 3 times a day. Sometimes before 7am, other times after 10pm. They keep looking for someone that no longer owns this number. I've already asked them once to stop calling as this number no longer belongs to the person they are looking for. I just asked them yet again to stop and mentioned that I have asked before. We'll see how long this lasts, as the last time it only lasted a week.

I also find one of the posts on the first page amusing from the "COLLECTOR". No wonder they can call several times a day, every day of the week, when they think that a "contact" means receiving all of the information, yet when I pick up the phone when you call I just receive an automated voice message. Then when I call back, I sometimes get hung up on before even being connected.

Whether or not this company is a scam or not, I can't confirm that. Though through my experiences with them I don't exactly hold them as one of the greatest, most respectful of companies of all time.

Reading through all these post amazed me to see so many IQOR's employees defending the company. The way they are defending the company is very unprofessional. The information they are giving you are wrong. If they called you. Before saying anything ask for their name and address. Let them know you are sending them a debt validation letter/cease & desist letter. Then hang up the phone. They are not allow to call you again until they send you the information you requested. They are required by law to send you it. Do NOT admit the debt is yours ever. If you do your SOL will restart. If you do not owe the debt but, are related to the one that owes it. Do NOT tell them. Just say they have the wrong number. Once you tell them you're related your information will be kept on file forever as next of kin/related. They will hound you for information regarding the person they are looking for. It will be passed on from one agency to the next. If you owe the money and want to pay. Try to negotiate a settlement. AND an agreement to change the status of your credit report to PAID or delete it altogether> Always get everything in writing. Try not to go on a payment plan. These plans are usually full of interests. If you have money pay the lump sum settlement you agree to. If you don't have money you might want to wait until you save up to negotiate a settlement. Remember they are over the phone so don't panic. If you feel stress from the conversation just hang up. Read up on your rights.

I am a retired B.C. lawyer who also was getting annoying IQOR calls (sounds like ICOR on the recording) regarding a (disputed) parking ticket from a private parking lot. Here's how to get rid of the calls almost instantly: First, the company which wants your money has no intention of going to court - the only way they can legally enforce the "debt"(too much cost in time and money) so they send the matter to IQOR which tries to scare/annoy you into paying with the repeated "robo calls". Check the Consumer Protection Act in your jurisdiction. It likely has the same kind of provision as the B.C. Act. Section 116(4)(c) says that if you notify both the Company in question and collection agency (ie ICOR) that the matter is in dispute and you want it to go to court they must immediately cease communication with you. If they don't there is (since they are a corporation) a maximum $100,000 fine (see sections 189(4) and 190(2)). I sent both a registered letter including reference to the Act and a note that I would be sure to report any infractions. The calls ceased immediately (not to my surprise). You're welcome.

Hi everyone. I've been recieving calls from these guys twice a day every day (except Sunday). I work for a collection agency in Winnipeg. Iqor Canada is a third party agency.  Meaning whatever you owe really doesent matter because it's way outstanding and the amount you own is too small to be taken to court. Like the gentlemen above kind of mentioned. Where I work we all ready have all the information we need to contact you. For example " hi my names Kelsey from the WICA may i speak with joe? Hi joe my name's Kelsey from WICA and were just calling to let you know you have an outstanding amount owed to _______ and the next payment I due Aug 30. If payment is not made they will charge an interest rate or ______ per day (or month).
Iqor asks u for your name and number and such. The company I work at. If u call back your name and number comes up on our screen so we don't ask your name and number. We state our name and business name and then we ask how can we help. U may say " I just got a call from this number" and I confirm your phone number for u and u confirm that's correct then we confirm why we called. Iqor does not do that.
I aske my general manager about them and she said their a telemarketing type of collectors. Or third party collectors. Parking tickets, over due library fees, late charges owed to maybe blockbuster, or u may owe a doller to Rogers which now built up to $300 or so and so on. The fact is whatever u owe wont effect your credit or anything like that. If you truly owe the actual company you owe will contact you. Hope that helps.

Oh I forgot to mention. I also my GM said the company you owe won't ever see a cent if you pay Iqor. Because that company sold the debt to Iqor. Iqor buys the debt in hopes to make money off it since their agents get commission. Where I work theres no commission. Hope that helps to.

      harvey replies to Kelsey
Kelsey, you and your GM are wrong about several points. iQor is a 3rd party agency, like most other collection agencies. They are assigned debts by private companies and government agencies. By law they must put any money they collect into a trust account and remit that to their client. From the amount collected they receive a percentage commission. iQor, in Canada for sure, does not buy debt.

Also, some of the debts that are collected by iQor and other 3rd party agencies DO AFFECT your credit rating.

Also, because companies like iQor call so many people every day it is part of their compliance that they confirm the name, telephone and address for everyone they reach BEFORE they tell anyone what the call is about. That is to prevent third party disclosure - telling the wrong person about John Doe's debt to ABC Company.

Collection agencies make mistakes. They can have poor administration which means your do not call request is ignored. They can hire the wrong type of person or train them poorly or not monitor them properly but I bet the same thing can happen at your company.
