I again received a call from this number/company in my cell phone. They call 1-2x every week. so irritating.

I had long straightened out my credit card debts in 2002. Suddenly, since 2008, I started getting calls from this company. I do not know how they got my cell ph number. I read almost all the complaints ahainst this company and now am convinced they they are scammers.

Should we all band together and file a class action suit? Or, report this company to the authorities in ur respective cities/states?

These people keep bugging me, it has been a year now. They call from different numbers. I hang up on them. Once they claim It is a debt from 1990, again 1985 to JCPenney. IT has been years since I had a JCPenney credit card. I have a check $0.05 cents with a letter saying I owe them nothing.
But these callers, go on and on. I ask them to send something in writing,
of course they have nothing. The number they call from is 757--864-0020.

They are calling me about an 18-year-old debt.  It is well outside of any statute of limitations I've seen in the US.  I found their website, and will most likely be sending them a cease-and-desist letter at their corporate address.  I've had calls from the 205 and 757 area codes.  I don't pick up the phone for numbers and names I don't recognize.

These fools have called me about a 1500 debt on a auto loan 14yrs ago. under the FDCPA act you can verbally tell them not to call you under that act. if they keep calling you, you have have to send a cerified letter stating that they not call or contact you. However when i asked them what kind of car or truck it was they couldnt give me that information. Why in the world would i make payment arragements on just the information on you have a debt of 1500 for an auto loan. I dont think so. I told them over the phone to F*** off. I will contact my Attorney General and the Virgina Attorney General. Not once have i gotten a letter in the mail or anything and they are calling my cell phone. The first time was from Camco debt collections and i reseached them and they are scammers!!!! Its time to put a stop to these people with portfolio recovery buying old debts from people and trying to collect money on them for themself. i will be in if there is a class action law suit !!!!

I went to thier web site and the only information i gave them was my name and an email account i hardly use. the rest of the informaiton is false and i put in a complaint like that will or anything but i told them to be looking for a certified letter in the mail and the person i talked to just about 30 mintues ago gave me a p.o.box i laughed because a p.o.box cant get certified letters with something being returned to you saying they got it. so i got the phyical address to portfolio in virgina!

A PO Box CAN receive mail with 'return receipt/return signature'. The way how it goes is:
the mail person leave a 'notice' in the PO Box and the owner of PO Bpx receive the notice, then goes to the Post Office counter and pick up the mail, by signing the return receipt - which is coming back to you.
I've read this in some information regarding the post offices. Actually, I have sent certified mail with return receipt to a PO Box and I got the return receipt with their signature back.

Send a cease-and-desist letter via Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested.  Keep a copy of the letter and attach your part of the receipt to it.  They are then allowed one more contact, to let you know if they wish to further pursue or drop the matter. More contact than that, and they are violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.  This can be done online, and they will give you a confirmation number.

I received a letter first.  I called them and told them I never owned this credit card!  They said I had to write a letter and ask for the information. I did and the sent me a letter with papers to file a theft identity claim.  They wanted information like my driver license #, previous address, date of birth, etc. I agree with a law suit.

This company has been calling me for a few weeks in Nov I talked to a Jason and explained this debt from NMBNA was non collectible. I had filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy. My bankruptcy was discharged in Feb 06. Jason informed me that ment I had to repay this debt. I gave him my Chapter 7 case number. He then told me I had to mail them copies of all my bankruptcy papers and all my payment history on this account. I told Jasson if they were a legit company they could pull all the info from my  bankruptcy up. I then informed him to never call me again. The calls have continued.

Portfolio Recoveries have been calling me 4-5 times a week for about a year now. Up until a few weeks ago, I never answered. However, I've answered three calls recently from them. The debt they're trying to collect isn't mine. I have a fairly common first and last name. Each of the three times I answered their calls, they gave me a different date of birth. Yesterday, it was for a person born in 1918..that's not a typo..I'm in my 40's. I think they go thru the telephone book and call people with the same names as the person the debt belong to. They're crooks.

    It's a scam
They've been calling for weeks, maybe months at our residence. My wife has always assumed that it was a sales company and just never answered. I answered it this morning and it was PRC trying to recover a 13 year old debt from 1997-98 on a cellular phone account that never existed for my wife. They claimed a 9% interest rate and wanted 1470 dollars. I took down the lady's information and the debt information, talked to my wife, and did some research. We called them back and in so many words, told them to f off.

I've contacted the AG in Texas and looking up the BBB and FCC complaint files. I have a letter to send, but don't want to give these vultures a physical address.

How do we get them to stop from calling?

The account they're trying to collect was cleared prior to a bankruptcy and is as of January 2011, 20 years old.

    Any suggestions appreciated.
