Scam Collection Calls
Complaint
MCH
Country: United States
I again received a call from this number/company in my cell phone. They call 1-2x every week. so irritating.
I had long straightened out my credit card debts in 2002. Suddenly, since 2008, I started getting calls from this company. I do not know how they got my cell ph number. I read almost all the complaints ahainst this company and now am convinced they they are scammers.
Should we all band together and file a class action suit? Or, report this company to the authorities in ur respective cities/states?

Once again, to be clear: giving them money, no matter how much, will not make them stop calling you. All you will do is make the debt "fresh" again on your credit report.
Nobody, anywhere, ever has had these people actually clear up an old debt, real or not.
The majority of the people posting here do not owe the debt PRA is calling them about. They randomly call people, whether they owe anything or not hoping to intimidate them into paying. Others claim that PRA is calling them trying to collect on debt that has been paid in full YEARS ago.
These dirtbags have been calling my THIRTEEN year old daughter's cel phone EVERY day for over 2 years! I sincerely doubt she has outstanding debt that is owed to a collection agency.
They've been calling me for several YEARS on a debt that I didn't owe. They say its for a Discover Card I had, but it NEVER showed up on my credit rating. I closed the my Discover account myself - in good standing. I closed the account because I didn't like the Discover company and their business practices.
A couple years later the phone calls started. Back then I just ignored them after the 1st conversation.... it usually stopped after a month or so and then intermittently after that. Then (again) about 2 years ago I answered the phone, not paying attention to the caller ID and spoke to a gentleman that bullied me into trying to pay him. I informed him he was a scam, which led to one heck of a chewing....I asked him, "then why isn't it on my credit report?" He informed me the debt was too small and small fees like this are too small to put on a credit report. Seriously!? I've had a $7.00 Blockbuster late fee show up after I moved that I missed (which I immediately took care of). This $500 fee is too small? (not to mention the amount was more than the previous calls they had made) He said it was interest seeing someone previously spoke to me and that this was a "one time deal, valid only until end of phone call or it would continue to collect interest." So when I said okay (knowing this was a scam)... they would ONLY take my bank account. Said, "not going to happen...you just proved to me your a scam. No legitimate company has ONE, AND ONLY ONE way to pay. Shame on you for doing this." I also informed them I did a background check on them and know they're being investigated by the FTC and several states. He tried to tell me to go to website to verify they're legit. Anyone can make a website and they were thru "go daddy". Individual was surprised. All was quiet after that for a couple of years until today.
Every time they call I owe a different amount and today when I called them on it, they said its a "discounted rate." They also said this was the "first time they've ever gotten a hold of me since the company owned the debt". Really? They really have an answer for everything! I informed them again, that is fraudulent and she recorded it as "refusal to pay".
The amount goes up and down several hundreds with each caller from whichever state that happens to be calling. I called my bank and spoke to a fraud specialist who also believed it was a scam and I filed a complaint with the FTC as they instructed, put flags on all of my accounts and restarted credit monitoring through my bank.
These guys NEVER stop! This is getting ridiculous now.
