I again received a call from this number/company in my cell phone. They call 1-2x every week. so irritating.

I had long straightened out my credit card debts in 2002. Suddenly, since 2008, I started getting calls from this company. I do not know how they got my cell ph number. I read almost all the complaints ahainst this company and now am convinced they they are scammers.

Should we all band together and file a class action suit? Or, report this company to the authorities in ur respective cities/states?

These idiots started calling about a month ago on a land line that we got 3 1/2 months ago when we moved to our new house. We did go through bankruptcy 3 1/2 years ago and since then had moved to a different part of the country, taking our cellphone numbers (which are the ONLY phone links to our past and discharged debts) w/us. Yet we have never received a call from them on our cellphones numbers, which we had for over 10 years.

When they call our land line, we let it go to voice mail, but they never leave a message.

I'm all for a class action suit, too.

Thanks for the list, Sean. And it's a mighty long list.

Anybody that uses that many numbers and a spoof number generator when making these harassing/annoying calls has got to be shady - and needs to be tarred and feathered, put in the stocks and pillories for public humiliation, heavily fined, and put out of business.

What Portfolio does is buy Zombie debt for pennies on the dollar. Never ever verify the account in question, even if at one time you did in fact owe the debt. If you do verify, it may reset the debt clock in your state (3 to 10 years depending on where you live) which gives them the right to continue going after you for the debt including taking you to court for it, even if it was charged off in a bankruptcy or otherwise negotiated with the creditor. They may have your name but as long as you continue to tell them they have the wrong person, there is nothing they can do. They are bottom feeders who bank on the fact that some people dont understand debt term limits in their states and will actually agree to a payment plans with these [***]. Dont let it happen to you.I am hoping that very soon these people will be out of business. Deny Deny Deny.....give them nothing and verify nothing.

I just found out this agency has been calling, asking for someone, for awhile.
I haven't answered, but today my girlfriend did. And they yelled at her.
Naturally, when someone calls your home, and asks if someone is there, whether or not the person lives there, you have all the right to ask them, who they are and why are they calling, and what do they want with that person.
They told her, and she said he didn't live there, and the lady yelled at her about why did she ask all of that. She yelled right back, saying she has been getting a lot of calls from people like that, and wants it to stop.
Before I even got home, she found that they are agency that scours old debt history, to lay claims on debts they have no affiliation with.
Their site seems professional and above board, but this is one of the debt agencies that have ethics on par with the 419 Nigerian scammers.

They have called me too. Some debt from 2004. Statue of limitations is 6 years in NY and its been over 6 1/2. Weird. they say I owe $13,000. Im not the person in question and they threatened me on the phone and called be a dead beat. I laughed but still consider this serious. They won't stop calling me. They have my name but s.s. and dob are wrong. And they said they don't believe me.  What to do.?

Ok...so today I got a call from the PRA company. I was a little baffled because the rep,Jodi, called me from a (954) area code. When she asked for me in my maiden name, I thought to myself surely not a bill collector calling me by this last name, which I have not used in over 20yrs. I politely advised the lady that I was not in.. just to see what she would say. She left the name of Jodi and the phone number of 866-691-3568. I took down the number and advised her I would have this maiden name person to call her tomorrow. I quickly did a reverse look up on the internet and I find out that this PRA company is calling me. I quickly think to myself, I know that someone is not calling me for debt that is 20 yrs old. I then log on to the computer look at my credit report inquires. It was here that  and learned that this company has been randomly requesting my credit report under false pretenses that they are doing promotional inquires. So now I have gone and signed up for the "opt out" option that you can choose through the credit bureau to stop "inquires on your credit. These inquires are the ones that don't deduct points from your credit. However they allow company's to offer you credit, insurance, etc based on your credit report/score. So now that I have read this I am really upset about receiving this phone call. I plan on registering this woman's "cell number" that she called me from. Yes, I did a reverse look up on it and it is cell number. I sure hope she does not call again..this time I plan on telling her that this is a wrong phone number. However, if they continue to call me for a debt that is over 20yrs old that I am sure I paid; I will have to report them or get in on the class action suit.
