Somebody,(Margarite) phone number 901-248-7430, called me up and directed me to press number 1 to reach the company for credit card rate reduction. Upon doing so they requested if I had over $5,000.00 in debt and they wanted my credit card number to verify the debt. I requested their first and last name. The female speaking stated her name was Margarite but would not provide her last name. I attempt to find an address for the compant she refused to tell me then directed me to her supervisor "Ronald James". He again advised me he would lower my debt and requested my credit card number. I again requested as to the address of his company he stated Tallahasse Florida, but wouldn't not provide me with a street address. When I advised him I would look him up on the federal system because I felt he was trying to perpetrate a scam he stated "don't call this a scam and I'm going to hang up". I looked up the company "Account Services" on the internet and it advised of scam warnings. I said the internet site indicates you company is involed in scams. He stated "this is not a scam", I replied it sure appears that way; he stated "shutup" and hung up the phone.

Mike, will you provide for folks the real address and phone Number of the company that you worked for?  this will allow folks to confirm some things.  Also, if your old job was to lower credit card rates, how is this done?  Can an average Joe go through the process with their card company?

See, even you can't tell the same story twice. First you said you got fired, then you said you got laid off. There is a big difference between the two of those statements.

Is IS a scam.  There are many scams like this going around.  They use temporary and fake telemarketing numbers that you CANNOT call back--go ahead and try to call the number back!!!!  Call the BBB and the Attorney General for your State and report them and the numbers.

I received many calls from them on my cell phone. One distracted day I answered to see what they were offering.  Hard pressure for personal info, a little bit at a time; last 4 numbers of credit cards & soc. security #, name... if you hesitate they pass you on to a harder sell person and they come up with your payment history which makes them seem OK. But after trying for an expiration date and the cvs numbers I knew they were just getting info.  The last guy stated their business was to lower your payments for a $800.00+ fee. I still wonder whether they do that or just phish for info.  Backed out but got so scared I changed the number with the card company I gave them and am worried about the rest of my cards and my identity. Has anyone ever used their service and got lower rates?  Are they a real company or just total ripoffs? Where is the protection?

Ok so I received a call from Corneilius at www.associatedaccountingofflorida.com (but he said the company name was Associated Accounting or something...phone number 701-712-0972...he said that Equifax had pre-qualified me due to my excelent credit and all he needed to do was get me officially qualified by taking my 16 digit account number and my zip code along with the phone number on the back of my credit card...I told him he must be crazy (but in a polite, "what would you do if you were me?" kind of way). He sympothised and assured me that the company was legit and that I would not find anything on the internet about this company that actually proved any negative stuff like fraud or scams. He said that all he had to do was call them to verify that I was in good standing with the credit card company and the lower interest rates would automatically apply to all 6 different credit cards I have if the one credit card I gave him was in good standing. He said he would put me on a breif hold while he called them...the whole time I was skeptical and he knew it...I expressed how skeptical I was. So I hesitated for a while and then a light bulb went off....I told him that I would put him on hold and call the number on the back of my credit card and verify my account (without him on the line so he cant get my cc number) and then tell my credit card company that I am going to conference someone in on the call so that he could work his interst rate lowering magic...to my utter amazment, he accepted without hessitation and said that this was ok and that he completely understood my skepticism...however, I then realized that I don't know how to conference someone in on a call from my stupid HTC phone...so I told him that I would call him tomorrow from my work phone where I knew how to conference him  in. He gave me his exact phone number and extension and full name and said he works from 11am-730pm EST. So we shall see tomorrow. Kinda excited to see if it is a scam or not.

These guys have called a couple times.
-- Red flag #1: They have no information, but say that they work for MC and Visa and that the banks that supply the cards are overcharging for interest and my name was flagged as someone who could get reduced rates. But they can't tell me anything about which cards I have that would qualify. If they have no information, then how did my name come up as someone who could qualify. One would assume that they would have the information that "qualified" me.

-- Red Flag #2: the "qualifier" passed me to his "Floor Manager." What is this? Time share? Used cars?

-- Red Flag #3: both reps told asked me if I was aware of the Consumer Protection Act. And said that it protects anyone from charges on a credit card that are unauthorized. That is why your credit card statement can be sent through the mail. "Those 12 #'s don't mean anything without another way of signaling your approval." Yah, right ; )

If it seems to good to be true it probably is; Never give anyone your personal or account information if THEY are calling YOU.

I received a call today, Nov 4, 2011, on my cell phone from phone # 503-563-0005 a local land line in West Linn, OR.  The gentleman introduced himself as someone w/Account Services and that I qualified for a lower interest rate. This outfit has called my land line before, but never my cell phone which is unlisted and on a do not call list as well.  I answered his initial questions:  Would you benefit from a lower interest rate?  How much do you currently owe?  How many credit cards is the balance with?  What is my current interest rate?  Once he realized that the only credit card I have was close to the limit he put me on "hold" and and I was conveniently disconnected.  Guess the availability on my credit card wasn't enough for him to steal.  I never gave my account number.  I just hope I don't get some kind of overseas outrageous charge on my phone bill.

I just received the same ridiculous call from 360-529-6100 the "gentlemen" indicated that my number had just appeared as a credit card holder in good standing and that he could lower my interest rate - my skepticism was huge and he pleasantly attempted to sooth my questions -  how can you reduce the interest rate I need to negotiate directly with the credit card company - he had an answer for everything - when I told him that he was not getting a credit card number from me or any personal information the line went dead. I am glad that I listened to that little voice saying that this is too good to be true and this guy is a smooth talking ridiculous con man. All he wanted was to get some of my personal information - when I made it clear it wasn't happening he disappeared - hopefully he will disappear for good.

These lizards are relentless! They call every day saying I have only two days to lower my rate or press #3 to stop calling---but they never stop calling. There has to be a way for the government to stop these criminals but obviously not a priority with them.

People, come on now its 2011. Some of these comments sicken me. NEVER, EVER, GIVE OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION OR ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. EVER. Seriously!!! NEVER. If they want to do business with you, ask them to mail your something (Which is a requirement by law if requested). And for all others, IF YOU WANT TO LOWER YOUR INTEREST RATE, CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY. DUH. They have paid staff and resources to help you out if that option is available to you. If not, pay off debt and cancel your card. PLUS THERE ARE PLENTY OF LOCAL AND NATIONAL DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANIES THAT ARE TRUSTED VERIFIED AND CERTIFIED THAT YOU CAN CALL. WHy would you trust someone that just calls you out of the blue wanting your information???? Stupid!

THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS. Just report, report, and report. NEVER EVER EVER, EVER give out your personal information even if they claim to have it. THESE CRIMINALS USE MULTIPLE NUMBERS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND WILL NOT STOP CALLING DESPITE ASKING POLITELY/RUDELY TO DO SO. Be smart people, the gullible are the ones that keep them in business. And why would you ever believe that someone will call you back (especially usually from a false number)?

JUST HANG UP AND REPORT TO LOCAL/STATE and FEDS.

    BE SMART PEOPLE

I got a similar call described above claiming to reduce my CC interest rates. Woman started nice, and got pushier. I needed to have SOME available credit on a card. I asked what company she represented, but replied twice with "...working with" MC, VISA, banks, etc. I finally put her on the spot to ask what company she worked for. Claimed to be from "Card Member Services". Sounded suspicious, and the high-pressure, have-to-answer-now approach made it seem even more suspicious. She kept trying to get "qualifying information" which I wouldn't give. Eventually handed me off to a nicer woman (named, Michelle). I was still suspicious. Phone # was 360-529-6151.

They keep trying but we ain't buyin'! These idiots must think we're all brain dead or something.  Attempting to fool us by using a different Caller ID name and number each time, but same exact scam!

The FCC already cited these moron's 4 years ago for violating the very laws they are violating right now:
