For months now, I've been getting several calls a week from "Rachel" about "lowering my credit card rates"  I called the WV better business bureau, and they said they'd been getting them too, no suggestions about how to stop it.

I have received several phone calls (they are pre-recorded) telling me it's my last chance to lower my credit card rates.  I received two calls tonight  (10/28/11); I hung up on the first call, and then shortly received the same recorded message.  This time I pressed one so that I could talk to a real person and ask to be taken off their list.  When a man answered, he wanted to know if I wanted to know how to lower my credit card rate.  I told him "no" and that I wanted to be taken off the list.  He asked me how did I know I didn't want it since he had told me about the offer.  I told him that I never discussed anything with unsolicited calls, and he told me I didn't understand anything and he used some offensive swear words.  Unbelievable!  I hung up, of course.  How the heck do we get these people from using our phone numbers????

My guess would be somoene from the DO NOT CALL registry is making a ton of money because  since I registered there I've had nothing BUT calls

I had not thought of that. It makes sense though, otherwise what is the function of that department? Do they just kindly as companies to not call their list of numbers? On the other hand they are probably as impatient as the FTC and the [***] that are calling know that you can't get back to them. But wouldn't it be great to get the [***] who are calling put on to their own list.

Otherwise call 1-877-382-4357 the Federal Trade Commission and register a complaint. In fact I plan to do that every time I get a call from these [***] and make the FTC as busy filling complaints as I am answering the calls, maybe then they will do something about these guys.

I keep a small air horn by the phone (you can get them at party stores or dollar stores) and after I press 1 and a human comes on board, I blast them. Makes me feel good but perhaps also may make the human on the other end think about getting another job.

Another thing you can do is press a random number and say "Operator please trace this call"

It doesn't work. I've tried screaming into the phone as if I were being stabbed by Jason from Halloween and they still keep calling. They don't care about anything but getting information, otherwise they just hang up or get smart ass with you.

This telmarketer/scammer calls several times a week. Or at least they used to. I have started wasting their time since they waste mine. Tell them you need help with your credit card. They like that! Next give them a false name, address, credit card etc. make up a fake account number and be shy of the required digits. Argue with them that you gave them the whole number. Tell them (in an earnest voice) that you know them from high school. Ask them how their mother and/or father is doing. Complain about the fungus on your left toe nail. etc. Tell them it may be too late to help you that you haven't paid on your credit card in a year and you are getting turned over to the credit bureau. Use your imagination and have fun.

"Rachel" called again today.  For the fun of it, I pressed "1" and got put into a queue.

Finally a male voice came on...."Tell me more about your offer."  CLICK

I do not have caller ID, but my guess is these jerks have a fake number they use.

Certainly there is enough technology out there for the relevant authorities, to include states' Attorneys General, to do something about this recurring aggravation!!

I just talked to the attorney generals office and they said there is nothing they can do about it. However they did give me the Federal Trade Commission's phone# 1-877-382-4357 and said I could call there to file a complaint. I plan to do so every time I get a call from these people. They seem to be able to use phone #s that are no longer in service and can't be traced. Seems that if the FTC gets enough complaints that they will find a way to get these guys.

"Rachel" called twice today, 2nd call from 630-256-1990 "wireless caller", first from 601-206-2006 Jackson MS. I spoke to them 2nd time, they said name of company is "Credit Card Services", would not give me a phone number to call back on, etc. She said they represent all the major credit card companies, and are listed on the back of my card(s) (which they are NOT). Asked me if I had over 4,000 in credit card debt, would reveal nothing further about her company, contact information, etc. TOTAL SCAM!

I also had my "live contact" swear at me when I asked to be removed from their call list. He then threatened to "whip the white off my face." since I was such a financial loser. Unbelievable!  I can't believe that these people can't be stopped.

As my name suggests, I am "sick of Rachel" I agree, there should be a way to stop this. I am listed on the Do Not Call list, doesn't seem to help.

Just got a call from Rachel too.   Don't know how to stop them.  I am, also, on the Do Not Call List and seem to be getting more of them than ever.   Wish we could find a way to stop them.

I am constantly getting these "rachel" calls too; when I get through to a person to tell them to stop calling, they abruptly hang up, but calls continue. Now the name is "Linda" on that robo call, but it is the same pitch.

Not only does Rachel call from Florida, but Washington, Nevada and other states and cities.  Her voice is different, but her message is the same junk. It would nice if this irritating calls could be stopped.  As long as we have credit cards, phones, computers we will always be pestered. She has constantly filled up my voice mail....so much so my family and friends can't leave messages!!!!!
