Received 3 calls from these guys from 559-328-2353 at my office claiming to be some kind of Official US Branch of Govt. Anyways I called them to see what this was all about, and they couldn't get their names straight, So I asked for their address and the guy just hangs up. Its a SCAM of some kind for sure so don't fall for it.

    I rec'd the same call (supposedly) from Chris Stevens, Dept. of Legal Affairs yesterday.  The caller ID said 760-298-4491, "Vista, CA".   I had to listen 3 times to get the last name due to poor pronunciation.  I returned the call to 760-298-4491 a got a message that "This Magic Jack number is not assigned to anyone. Your call did not go through."  As I am also a Magic Jack customer, I will be letting them know as well.

      Just got the same message, same department, didn't check the number, just went to check it out on the internet. I am also a Magic Jack customer and was wondering how many of these complaints are from Magic Jack customers and if their phone list was hijacked.

    I got a call this morning at 9:30am in Pennsylvania. the thick Indian accent was hard to comprehend, but I did get that he was mis-pronouncing my husband's name and asking for him. We have an unlisted number and it's on the do-not-call list. We rarely get any calls on the homeline except from parents (so no-one knows our number). I insisted that my husband isn't home and asked what it's regarding. Eventually he just hung up. He called back about 25 minutes later and as soon as I answered, he hung up. It was creapy at that point. Later in the day at 3:10pm, he called back and this time insisted that he talk to my husband. Identified himself as "Jordan Miller with the US Dept of Legal Affairs, Treasury". he asked for my husband by first and last name and then asked my name. I said that i'm the housekeeper and he repeated "house-keeper" as if he was writing it down. Then he insisted that I get a pen and right down the phone number to have my husband return his phone call "AS SOON AS POSSIBLE". They have got to stop harassing us!!!

      I just got the call too.  Boy it really pisses me off too!!    How dare they call my home and act rudely to me!!  I will never answer that  phone  again!! That phone is 99% solicitors anyway.

      I am wondering who we can complain to or report them to. I just got similar call saying I would have charges filed against me tomorrow.  How can we report these people?  thanks

    had a voice mail for my husband saying it was Alex from the Department of Legal Affairs and that Law Enforcement action was being taken against his name and it was important that he call back right away.  The number he left was 909-271-8434 and the gentleman had a very thick Indian accent that was very hard to understand, I had to listen to the voice mail twice to get the number.  I won't be calling Alex back but I will be calling my Attorney Generals office to report this along with my local news!  Beware everyone!!

    Recvd a message on the phone from a "David Phillips" from Dept. Of Legal Affairs, US Treasury Dept. and basically threatened my daughter indicating that she had litigation against her and that if she won't call back  - have an attorney call for her.  My daughter has been married for several years now and hasn't lived here for quite some time.  Used her maiden name instead of her long time married one (I grew suspicious at that point) - looked up the number and then found all these complaints.  Feeling better that this is just another scam.  This man also had a very heavy accent.  Now that I know the number I can simply hang up.  Yet it is still harassment!

      Just received the same call from the same guy with the heavy accent. Thank you for your post. I was certain it had to be a scam.

    I just posted this SCAM on facebook to pass on.  These men all have heavy accents and are using generic names.  Just be sure to get the word out there so that people won't be alarmed.  I have several numbers that I've written down from other complaints - so that when that number shows up on my phone I can just simply pick it up and hang up!

      I to received a calll today Jan. 13th, 2016. Sound fake to me. Heavy accent . Astral appears on caller ID along with phone number. 646-6571517.I know it is BS.

    Just got a voice mail message from a Bryan Maxwell.  Heavy accent told me to call him at 415-685-8960 as there was a lawsuit against my name.  Must think I'm an idiot and will call back.  They must be on a roll.  What can a person do to report them?

    This number reported to be from the Dept. of the Treasury, legal enforcement division, and wanted to talk to my daughter about a legal matter. The call number came up as El Centro, CA (small town). My wife and I grew up near El Centro and there was never a Treasury Dept there. Also, Government phones come up as "U.S. Government", not the name of the city they are calling from. I called back after hours and got a voice mail announcement from the same person. The number was 790-897-3202.

    Same thing. I've received 3 calls, at WORK. The phone #s are 202-821-0055 from "David Foster" and 202-821-1155,from "Danny Archer". I don't have time for this crap. Are there no jobs left for Untouchables in India??? Rat killer would be more honorable!

      I too have received these phone calls from 202-821-1155 and 202-591-1615...a Danny Archer with a thick Indian accent threatening legal actions etc...Supposedly from the Department of Legal Affairs US Treasury. I call BS and plan to report them as high as I can get with this.

        My son received the same exact call ....same number and same name Danny Archer. This really pisses me off they are getting away with these phone calls.
