You can call your credit card company and report a fraud transaction  if they have already processed your payment. Then just ask them to send you another card so that they will not be able to do it over and over again. Hope this helps.

I have had two different set of men call me stating they are FBI agents and I have these different criminal charges against me and when I start to ask questions they get very rude . They say if I don't pay them money the FBI will come get me.  They call me my work and email me. They have all kinds of information about me. What do I do? Is it for real or a scam?

Simply tell your credit card company that this is not a valid charge.  Let them investigate and report back to you.
However, it's likely they just wanted your credit card number.  You should ask your credit card company to cloe the account and issue a new credit card.

I have never taken out any type of payday loan but did look at several sites out of curiosity. Boy did my curiosity kill the cat!  My information was stolen and not only did I receive threatening calls but also my adult daughters. He called them more than once and called me at my place of work.  I received the same type of threats as I read here. So I did a little research and armed with knowledge I called back. I told the Indian accented man that I had filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office in New York, which I had. I told him I was going to have him arrested for extortion if I or my children received one more threatening phone call. He hung up on me!  So I called back and he was "appalled" that I would make such an accusation. I told him he was a criminal. He got mad and the only phrase I recognized was "screw you". I have heard nothing more in almost a year. It's a shame these people can scare some people into paying them.

The number that called me was 919-249-5382. This is an extortion scam. Do not give them any information. They will keep calling your job to get you to give them money threatening to get you fired. Unfortunately through my research the only thing you can do is file complaints with the FBI, Federal Trade Comission, and FCC. All of these websites gather your information but do not promise a resolution. Even when you tell these callers that you know it's a scam they still continue to harass you. One day they wouldn't stop calling my job so i called their number over and over again for an hour straight tying up their lines. They stopped calling me but 3 hrs later called again threatening to tie up my work phone lines from 7am to 4pm. So I installed an app on my phone that auto dials numbers as many times as you want. I plan to start the app from the time their phone lines open until the time they close Mon-Fri until they stop calling me. Something has to be done about these people but it seems that none of our agencies have a definite solution. We must fight back!!

I happen to owe money to pay day loans.  They tried calling me and they have left a message saying that it's time sensitive manner.  I called them and said that they will go to court tomorrow and get a warrant for my arrest and send me to court in front of a judge and pay them and/or explain why I haven't paid.  Is this legal?  Can they actually come to my job?

continued... the payday loan ... they happen to have my information like my ss# and the place where I work.  Are these people for real or is this a scam.  They asked for my visa or mastercard to make the payment.  It scared me that they said that they will come to my job and arrest me and they will give a copy to me and to my employer.  I work as a teacher so I was scared because I can't have any kind of arrest under my record.  I try to make a payment arrangement but they said tht it might be too late and perhaps the only way was to make a full payment of 1270.60 or so if approved. The person will go to court tomorrow and see if they can grant that request. The phone number they called me from was 408-641-7599.  I'm hoping it's a scam and not real because I'm scared.. just happened today and I don't want to get arrested.  Lucky, I didn't give them any money as of now.  Can someone please help me on this.

Hello, I recieved this call from this lawyer saying that if I didn't pay a loan advance off they would have me serve at my home or place of employment. Is that possible? I only borrow $300, and I've already paid back over a $1000.00, therfore, I stop paying. I'm I in trouble for this and can I go to jail?

I received a call today from a lawyer with a thick Indian accent and he reported that I was being sued from cash action pay day loan. I did take out a 500 dollar loan and i was told that they would take out 150 which they did and the lawyer stated that it bounced I checked my bank account and it went through. The lawyer stated that there would be a sheriff come to my work and serve me papers. I cant be arrested can I and what should I do. If I go to court I know I can prove it to the judge that the payment did not bounce. I would have been notified that I had a NSF charge from my bank which I didn't. Now they are telling me I owe 900 dollars. I just tool out this loan a couple weeks ago. What can I do, should I call the pay day loan place or just wait to go to court. I want to pay off this loan and am not trying to default.

This is not a payday loan company. This is scammers who have illegally obtained your personal information. Let me tell you my story. I started getting calls from people with thick Indian/Arab accents about a month ago. They started trying to get me payday loans, car loans, etc. they use generic American names like Mark, Kevin, Matthew, or Eric. I ignored the calls at first, looking them up on google after each. I found all of them were scams. I then started picking up and hanging up, answering and putting the phone next to my stereo and blaring rock music, telling them I was recording to trace and report the call, etc. Then, last week, my husband noticed a $30 charge in the form of an electronic check taken from our bank account. I looked at the image of the check they used, and it was so obviously fake I almost wanted to laugh. However, I've had to change my bank account, wait for new cards to arrive so I can pay my monthly bills, have been unable to get any money from the bank since it iis out of state (USAA) and now have people calling again from this scam.  My advise is to immediately close your account and set up a new one. Never give personal info to anyone over the phone. If they threaten you with court, arrest, a hold on your ssn, or anything else, laugh at them. They can do nothing of the sort. You cannot be arrested for a consumer debt. Warn friends and family that these scumbags may call them as well. Check your credit often and you can even alert all 3 credit agencies of possible fraud or identity threat and they can help as well. Do not stand idly by. If no one does anything, someone else will fall for this and these people will get rich off of hard working Americans. Good luck.

Hey people....It must be big headache for you guys who got calls from so called "LAW FIRM / DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY /LAW FIRM OF CASHNET...or what ever [***] they call it....I have  a friend who use to work with one of these companies....He wanted to work in a call center as most of our friend circle work with one of the call centers in India. I work for General Motors which is outsourced to India. Most of us working in a call center have different experiences so we share it among ourselves when we have time. One of our friends called John (name changed) was working for a small call center kind of company...in fact a fraud company which he didnt know what kinda company it is before he joined. John joined the company called TECH EVOLUTION in India...After 3 weeks he found out that its all [***] tah he;s doing and told us that he's gonna quit because its all scam and [***] that they are doing...He said "A lady i called that day prayed for me saying that it is wrong what we guys are doing here because, sometimes we call people who didnt even take a payday loan. The lady prayed for me so that I get a good job soon. He quit the job the next day without even taking the salaries that he earned for the days he worked. Its like a story but its true....
A lil advice....people calling you for payday loan debt with thick Indian accent, talking about hiring an attorney or legal officers will be coming to your place if you dont pay....THIS IS ALL CRAP. Dont believe 'em.
Frens this got to stop!!!! Hold on...forgot to mention, If you a get a voicemail starting with " This msg is intended to Mr. xxxxxxx. Mr. xxxxxxx the very moment you recieve this msg, I want you or your legal attorney of records to call  " somthing like this, Its them, people who gonna go to hell one day. Disregard the Msg or their call.
I cant do anthing for You guys but I pray that this stops soon. hope this helps. God Bless you all.

    Always,
    Law abiding citizen

Thanks for posting your information.  It matches several complaint profiles showing up on this and other sites.

Indian connected abusive debt collection appears to fit 3 categories:

      1)   somewhat legitimate Incian call centers that are part of U.S. debt collectors, but typically the FDCPA compliance is much lower than mainstream U.S. debt collectors.

      2)  shady business organized Indian debt collection call centers, with numerous reports of FDCPA violations such as illegal threats and evasion of validation,  (One run from southern California but using Indian call centers was sued by FTC several months ago.)

      3)  What appear to be nothing but free lance con artists, or small groups running fake debt collection scams, often employing fake "payday loan application" websites.

I might be more upset with these fraudulent and abusive overseas con artists, except that they have been progressively destroying the credibility of the U..S. based collection industry, which although it often uses more subtle deception and harassment, is in many cases as crooked as the Indian scams.

Because fraudulent collection is apparently a growth industry, and as quick to harass and extort not only debtors, but the majority of U.S. citizens who actually pay their bills, I expect these fraud rackets to continue to grow exponentially, fed by both cheap VoIP phone service and more cheap bad debt from the last recession, until either Congress is forced to act, or the credit reporting and phone systems degenerate into worthlessness.
