My mother received a call at her home for me from a so called Agent Brown and he provided a court docket number and advised I could return the call or would be sued in court. Unlike most of the complaints on here, I know I owe this payday loan from 2005 and as of right now have no funds to pay them. I called them back and spoke w/this so called agent and asked what court is this docket number from being I live in Dallas, Texas and asked for the name of the original loan company. Of course he couldn't provide either. I then advised him I would be contacting the Attorney General and the FCC to file a complaint. It's not illegal to owe money, nor is it illegal for them to contact me regarding the debt but it is illegal to mis-represent yourself, not provide your company name and other info needed to validate the debt. If they call you I suggest you do the same.

I have gotten numerous calls from this comapny with the same threat of coming to my work and serve me with papers.  Telling my employer that I am a dead beat and a felon.  I asked these "people" for a detailed letter in regards and all I got was a computer generated letter with grand total and day I "took" it out.  Funny thing, I was in the Hospital on this day admitted.  They keep threatening me and most of the time I can not understand what they are saying.  I talked to a Mr. Brown that was rude, harrassing, and very over bearing with me to where I could not even talk to him.  He said "God gave you two eyes, and a mouth to talk, right now I would shut up if I was you".  Needless to say I hung up.

This same company has been calling my sister and a co-worker! I am filing a complaining online with the FTC! If you owe the debt or not they are breaking the law period!! They cannot call and leave messages about serving you with court summonses on your job or at home! They are not anything except a debt collection company who is simply breaking the law! They have called from to different numbers 18558756768 and 18777832889. When I called the numbers they both said ACS! They also gave 2 different case numbers. Don't let this company scare you or get away with their illegal practices! File a complaint with the FTC immediately. I did!

Thank you for your information. These people should be shut down immediately! I looked at the website as well and they mostly deal with repossessions of cars, boats, etc. I received an email from them today trying to scare me. First of all, it's not criminal to get a loan online and not pay it back. It is civil. They need to stop threatening people. That is illegal. They cannot call you at work either. I am filing a complaint against them with the FTC and the State of Florida.

I got a call from someone stating that she's from the California Board of summons and was ready to serve a summon to in my place of employment and residence. They stated that i am being sued for fraud because i issued a check to said payday loan comapanies The truth is i never wrote a check to this companies. The person then gave a number to call and said said it should be in an hour or she will proceed with serving the summon. I then called the number she gave and it turned out to be ACS collection. I then spoke to one Ms. Collins and she said I could avoid being served the summons if I gave them something as good faith. She further mentioned that if the summons was served to me then it will be accompanied by the local authorities since I was beidn sued for fraud which is a felony offense. She wanted a $125.00 but i said I didn't have money and she later agreed for $50.00.. I think this somewhat of a fraud on their part. Is anyone there who could help me and give advise on what action i should take.

These are scam artists who are good at what they do, you need to contact your local FBI office and report these people they have been sending me emails and phone calls, I even had to change my phone number, somehow they got all of my information and they are usually of indian decent and say the are going to have someone show up to arrest you.  Do not PAY THEM ANY MONIES!!!!

Emails and phone calls are real cheap.
They also don't reveal that they are from scammers overseas.

Real debt collectors are required to mail an FDCPA "g" notice, within 5 days of first contact.

These scams NEVER mail that.  It would be too obvious it was coming from out of the country, so no one would believe it.  Kind of hard to make a credible threat of a "lawsuit" with an Indian stamp and cancellation mark on the envelope.  People would just laugh.

I emailed then asking for more info on who they were and who I owe the money too. Haventy yet heard back from them..
SINCE WHEN do creditors send you emails for a debt???

They never showed up at my job like they treatened, it is just a tactic to scare you. Call the original loan place and they will make arrangements with you. Don't answer the phone and don't press ignore on your phone, just let it ring

Well I received a phone call at work from someone saying I owed a debt and someone would be coming to my workplace to serve me a summons, and I would possibly have to go with them.  Now the debt they are talking about could be a legitimate one, but I think they either bought it, or found the info on my credit report....they scared me so bad that i gave them 400 dollars on my debit card, and made a payment schedule...they said they recorded me....i was advised by one of my friends to cancel my debit card and stop paying them until they can prove the debt is legitimate...they called again and said "where do you want to be picked up"......as if the cops would be taking me to jail....they informed one of my co-workers about my incident....because I was busy and couldn't come to the phone..........when I told them that I have contacted a lawyer....they hung up....when I called back, the guy yelled at me and told me to pay the debt or I would go to jail.....they also said they were going to serve me with a summons, and my place of business with a garnishment document.....I told them that they can't do that without a court order from my county....he hung up again.......I wonder if ACS actually files civil suits, because this would actually cost them money......

THem asking you to pay them back using a walmart debit card should have been the biggest red flag of a scam. What debt collector takes gift cards as payment???

I received the same email today. If you answer their call you have to inform them they cannot contact you at work. If they continue to do so you can legally place a complaint against them for harassing you at work and they have to stop.

Secondly... it is not a crime to default on a loan if you took out one. And if that were the case there would be millions of people in jail already. Its a loan... nothing more. At best they can report it on your credit or take out a judgement against you. But, they won't do that because the majority of these online payday loan companies are not licensed to give payday loans.

Check to see if the state you live in legally gives payday loans, if they do not, then you can't be prosecuted by law because its illegal to give them.

In NC it is not legal to give payday loans and there are no store front locations to get one. So online payday lenders are illegally giving you a loan, putting themselves in a position to get ripped off. And legally theres nothing they can do.

Just do the research or hire someone to do it for you like an attorney and you'll find out this is a crock of bull.

This is obviously a scare tatic to get you to pay! That's all it is!! It's so obviously! Real debt collectors don't bother putting such threatenin languange in letters (despite the fact that it's on the fence of being illegal). Real collections agencies don't have too! They try to collect and if not then they can't, if they want to sue you then just do it. No need to threaten. So I'd just ignore it. Or I'd have fun and call them and mess with them. But that's cause I know FDCPA and know what I'm doing. You can sue them and make thousands. Contact a attorney who sues debt collectors, and talk with them and tell them what's going on! They are usually real helpful and will love to speak with you cause they know illegal collectors like the ones contacting you are the easiest to win! Written letters are te best proof to use to sue them! So keep the letter. The attorney will tell you the same. And about your work, I'd go to my boss, tell him I have a scammer who got my information and threatening me and my job. It's COMPLETELY illegal for debt collectors to ever call your work and tell your employers/coworkers/etc anything about your debt.
