      Collectors nightmare replies to collector
All this ranting and use of perfanity is a clear example why you guys get no respect!  First of all you collectors are not the original company to inherit this debt. Nine out f ten times the company has insurance.  Here you come trying to make a buck so You buy these people's information. Ha!  So if you are doing your job do it the right way. Harassment is not the way but then again I wouldn't expect you to understand that.  Maybe if I curse and behave like an animal like you, you would understand me better.  So get a soul, find some dignity n respect as well as intelligence guess what it's free you don't have to chase people down to get those characteristics. Have a great day. May your blessings flow each time you handle yourself appropriately!

They are jerks.  The call all of the time.  I made payments to them.  Then I requested in writting information about the "loan."  When I called to talk about not sending me the information, I told them that they were being recorded.  They hung up on me.  It's a scam don't give them ANY money!

If you already know how to contact an alleged debtor, then you have no legal reason for calling anyone else to "locate" them.  All such calls violate FDCPA.

Practically all the complaints against this company are reporting that they are calling relatives.  Complaints are being made by both alleged debtors, and by non-debtors.

Practically all the posts defending the company (presumably from debt collectors and likely employees of the company) defend calling relatives for reasons other that "locating", including calling them "to leave a message", because they haven't had a reply "in 21 days", and various other excuses.

The above pattern of complaints and replies is consistent with an apparently deliberate company policy of encouraging or tolerating harassing alleged debtors through calls to relatives, in violation of FDCPA.

Let's see if other complaints are consistent with this signature pattern.

Following complaints also center around repeated harassing calls, both to alleged debtor and to neighbors.

Complaints include collection of unowed debt, phone harassment, ignoring a cease communication letter, repeated harassing calls to neighbors, failing to disclose that they are a debt collector, repeated harassing levels of calls to a place of employement,

    http://www.ripoffreport.com/Search/regional-adjustment-bureau.aspx

Repeated hourly harassing calls, simultaneously to the alleged debtor AND several neighbors.  They already were reaching the debtor by phone, hourly, yet they were calling neighbors hourly.  Truly amazing.

Unauthorized EFT, twice.  Complaints filed with FTC and two AGs.

    http://www.ripoffreport.com/collection-agency-s/regional-adjustment/regional-adjustment-bureau-vio-83x38.htm

Repeated harassing calls to cell and landline phones, to a misidentified person who is not the debtor.

Numerous federal FDCPA and FCRA lawsuits.

My husband of 23 years and I received 2 calls one yesterday on our cell phone and today on our unlisted, unpublished phone number.  Monica of the Regional Adjustment Bureau was calling for my ex-husband (we've been divorced 26 years).  I told her I had an email address, thanks to my daughter, and I would send him the info to return their call.

After thinking about the call, I realized they had called on our phone which is unlisted and unpublished and has been for 22 years and has never been connected to my ex-husband.  We are also on the Do Not Call List.  HOW DID THEY OBTAIN OUR PHONE NUMBER?  I want to know the answer to this question.  Why are we paying for this service if people can obtain our phone number.  We have the number because of threats to my life.

Time to place a complaint with the State of Connecticut Attorney General.

They probably skip-traced through Accurint, or Choicepoint, or a similar service.  (Or if they are cheap, they might try to Google it.)

That would allow them to connect your name with his name as a relative.  Once a relative, always a relative.  Accurint would also throw up junk data, like assuming everyone ever occupying any address you ever occupied, might be related.  Half what they come up with might be junk.

If either of your phone numbers had been included with a credit application to open an account, the number might be reported by a creditor.  If you called various companies, on their 800 numbers, their phone system would capture your number via ANI, even if your number is "private".

Do Not Call list only means telemarketers are supposed to buy lists and remove them from their call lists.

Unlisted number means it's not in the phone book and the phone company doesn't give it out through "411".  (Law enforcement can still get it instantly.)

The most likely to sell and trade consumer numbers would be scammy telemarketers, infomercial order numbers, magazine sales, etc.

Do you get telemarketing calls from callers who known your name?
What companies have you given your cell phone number to?
Have you used your number to order anything?

I have NO credit card debt and yet I was harassed by RAB.  They were apparently looking for the mother of an ex-boyfriend who I hadn't seen in years.  They called at least 5 - 10 times a day until I took action to stop the calls.

This is nothing but an invasion of my privacy and harassment.  People who work for this agency are the low life of society, as far as I'm concerned.  They have no other job prospects or are vicious individuals who get a high from taunting others.  They have a "bully mentality".

I advise anyone who is under their harassment to *fight back* through the Fair Lending Laws, Better Business Bureau, writing certified letters to the business asking them to not call your home or business.  By law, they are not supposed to call after receiving such a letter.

If nothing else works, start returning their calls and insist on speaking to a supervisor.  This tactic takes dedication since you'll need to make several calls each time they call you.  What this does is tie up their phone lines.  >:)  I stated during one of my many calls that I was recording the call for future litigation purposes.  The Representative hung-up on me.

    Regretfully Employed
I used to work at regional adjustment bearu (RAB) In tx...Look from my experience dont take their crap, i used to work there and i was in medical collections and by the time i got there majority of the times i hear alot of bad comments to the customers alot. they really need to get noticed for this crap sooner or later they will get a huge slap in the face. they yell at customers like its the end of the world, if a customer owes money and cannot pay their debit then oh well we cant do anything ,there are ways to help than to yell and yell and theres no point to talk to a supervisor in RAB trust me cause they do not care but want money they have no sympathy or not even a hint of caring in any situation(maybe they changed their policies who knows i left in oct 2010, But this is as far as i known and seen)... majority of the times when i ask for help when im on a call with a customer being this is my first job there all they say is dont fall for it or they trick u which some do BUT NOT ALL... they need notice of not only abiding by law on how they need to do collections, but also to show some careness... im actually glad lee fired me because even though he fired me for no reason i wanted to get out of that hell hole because its nothing but drama and unprofessional employees including lee and (sorry teresea) named Teresea you would think they would treat u as an employee but all the employees do including teresea is kiss ass to lee and normally i dont talk or say this but i had to let it out especially when she talks mess... but for those who owe debt dont stress dont let them put u down, if u have the money then good pay it off, but if u dont oh well u cant do anything but lord willing to help u save money and pay that debt off...anyways sorry if i let the personal out but had to let it out lol...but hope the other info helps.

LMAO - You are an idiot. Have you been hiding in the bowels of your stupid collection cubicle? In this economy, there are a ton of people who haven't been able to find a job for 2 years. I hope it happens to you -- maybe then you would get it!!

    Concerned
Everyone here has merits to their arguements.  I figure "why not put in my two cents?"  After all, I did just waste a bunch of time "Googling" complaints against RAB, Inc.   RAB, Inc. is an absolutely rediculous company to deal with, regardless of the nature of their industry.   They are rude, and frankly, by FAR the most difficult company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.  Collection agency or not.  They purchased my "alleged" account, but refused to mail me documentation or the required "Validation" letter to support their claim.  They stated that this debt was mine and I MUST establish payment arrangements or ELSE.  Umm... ever heard of Fraud?  When did my request become unreasonable?  When I simply indicated that I was not paying a debt that they could not validate.  At this point regardless whether or not the debt has substance, I will NEVER talk to those uneducated, unsympothetic, unprofessional, pieces of (you know what) again.

and what you dont understand is a simply small arrangement will surfice. alot of people are angry at the collection agency for doing there job. they didnt put your account in collections the person you signed the contract did. and you very well knew what would happen for non payment. so instead of getting upset trying to go off on somebody listen to what they have to say. i went in with a whole different attitude and they worked with me to get my account out of there office
