Today I received a text msg asking me if I would like a $200 Gas Voucher. It provided a toll free number to call for details: 877-764-7978. I have received 6 different text messages this year, with similar promises. I called the number, the person on the other end with a foreign accent, claimed to work for "Central Rewards" and proceeds to tell me for a one-time fee of $2.95 I would get a $200 gas voucher, good anywhere. Sarcastically, I said that it sounds too good to be true! I asked him how I pay the $2.95 fee to get my voucher... Of course, he was willing to accept any major credit card. Unfortunately, when I reply STOP to opt out of these things, it does no good. Each time, the text msg with an amazing offer comes from a different number. All of them lead back to "Central Rewards"

I just got a call from these people. To funny, I was asked for $2.95 to process a reward card for $500.00 in groceries and a $50 Wal-Mart card. I told the guy he had not fiven me any info on the company he represented. He gave me his name as Michael Williams, his accent said India. He gave me the name of the company as Central Rewrds out of Florida, as i was talking with him i was looking them up on the internet. I hung up mid-sentence. Thank all of you for posting this scam you just saved me many hours of fixing banking info.

    This is a SCAM
They actually contacted me saying that they were from BB&T and had all of my bank information and mailing address. So when they said I won a gas card for being a visa member I thought it was a credit card rewards thing. I dont know how they had my debit card info already but I never told them any number over the phone. I only verified an address they read off to me to send the gas card. I then get a package in the mail for magazine crap I never ordered and 153.77 of random charges from different companies on my bank statement!!! I am going to the bank tomorrow to get this straightened out, but I have a feeling that this money will never be seen again.

OMG! the same thing happened to me this morning...I called Bill Matrix about my pending payment & was routed to this Central Rewards promising a $200 card voucher...I never do stuff like this but figured it was legit because of Bill Matrix..well I did call my bank to stop the charges. Does anyone know if they still try to charge after you have cancelled your card? I did call to cancel but when I did call no one ever answered.  It's so unfortunate that people play games & try to run scams. It's just a lesson learned for me...NEVER NEVER GIVE OUT CARD INFO..

I spoke with my bank this morning & they will reverse my charges...however, the 6 times you were charged. Had you talked with your bank & closed your card?  I was told by my bank that they may be able to still charge my card after I've cancelled it. Please advise...thx

I got the phone calls and i hung up everytime they called.  Then the forth time they told me it would be the last time i didnt verify any information but they knew my name address and already had my credit card.  I told him this is a scam. A couple days later my account had been deducted and i had to cancel the card.  Whats bad is i didnt have to give this guy any information..  These people need to be stopped they got my account for 10dollars but some people on here got hit harder.

I just got involved with this call too when I tried to call the JC Penny cataloge company. I was very suspicious also so googled while I was on "hold for the supervisor" then when I saw all the comments I hung up. Immediately the phone rang back to us and my husband answered, they asked for me, I hung up,they called back immediately! I call my card company and cancelled my card that had a "pending" $2.95 charge to "NET DETECTIVE"
    I guess, lesson learned!

The guy I spoke to called himself Jason Parker but his accent was pure Bombay India.  the supervisor's name was supposedly Mike - also Indian.  i too did not stop the conversation quickly enough and was charged the initial $2.95.  when i called my card company the next day they said i'd have to call back until the charge posts on my account and they can stop the charge.  the only problem is that "Central Rewards" uses many company names each with diferent charges for so-called products.  Interestingly enough i was on a call to the VA when i was put on hold to wait for the next operator to come on the line when central rewards scammers came on the line with the $200 gas card scam offer.  BEWARE!!!

I am also a victim of this scam and am so mad I could scream, but after talking to my credit card company I feel a little bit better.  I called to make sure they could'nt make any more charges to my CC and the guy told me they would be blocked from charging me any more.  The part that made me feel a little better was when I was told Central rewards(or whoever they are)would be getting charged for all the cancellations.  Hopefully that will discourage these scams in the future.  I don't know how much they have to pay(not enough I'm sure)but at least it's a start.

I feel so dumbed to be fooled by these kind of scams, i should have checked online before giving out my account information. I have cancelled my bank card number and got a new one now and feel so much better that those frauds can no longer cheat me. Guys, please be aware of these kind of schemes/offers you get in mail.

    dont give them anything
they said its free but its all a scam they send u a check for $500.  when u deposit it in your account their check would not clear but central rewards would happily withdraw a $1000 from yr account. if u don't want to loose any money don't answer their call or use their vouchers or checks.

I received a telephone call from a female right around 10pm on a Thursday night and asked her if she knew what time it was? I only answered because I thought it may be an emergency with someone calling at that time of the night. She apologized and quickly transferred me to her supervisor. He congratulated me for winning a $500.00 gift card to a local grocery store and I asked what the catch was and he said absolutley no catch. He said this was in regards to and he provided the last 4 #'s of my account # with my bank. He then told me he was going to record me and seemed to be pushy and in a big hurry. He asked me if he was talking to and repeated my name and I said yes. He then asked me about my address and already had that info. and asked me if I lived there. I asked again what the scam was and he said yes or no...is that your address. I then explained to him that I was disconnecting the line. I received a letter in the mail that I had ordered 8 magazines for a one time fee of $25.00 and $46.96 a month for the next 30 months. I called Central Rewards in FL yesterday and was told that the $25.00 is refundable and she can credit that to my account, but the $46.96 is non-refundable as I was told that I had 7 days to cancel my magazine order during the recorded converstation. I explained to the woman who answered the line, that I did not complete the recorded conversation as I disconnected the phone and there was never any mention of magazines or a 7 day cancellation period. I never authorized anything being charged to this account. I am going to go to the bank today and have the charges cancelled and my account # changed. I also filed a complaint with the better business bureau. I did not give anyone my ss # or my account info. and have no idea how they obtained that info. from me.

Okay two things, 1. If it sounds to good to be true, be careful do research, get advise and Pray before you say yes. because it probably isn't true(it's a scam for sure). 2. if the are speaking English and you can't understand them or they keep asking you to repeat yourself  Hang Up. it all sounds good because it isn't true.
