Today I received a text msg asking me if I would like a $200 Gas Voucher. It provided a toll free number to call for details: 877-764-7978. I have received 6 different text messages this year, with similar promises. I called the number, the person on the other end with a foreign accent, claimed to work for "Central Rewards" and proceeds to tell me for a one-time fee of $2.95 I would get a $200 gas voucher, good anywhere. Sarcastically, I said that it sounds too good to be true! I asked him how I pay the $2.95 fee to get my voucher... Of course, he was willing to accept any major credit card. Unfortunately, when I reply STOP to opt out of these things, it does no good. Each time, the text msg with an amazing offer comes from a different number. All of them lead back to "Central Rewards"

My husband called to activite a new Sears Mastercard and somehow was connected (or perhaps the call was intercepted!) by Central Rewards.  A foreign (?)lady got credit card information from him and said we would receive a $200 gas voucher.  She had him wait about 10 minutes for what she called a confirmation number.  He finally hung up.  She called our home phone within 10 seconds.  I answered this time and told her we were NOT interested and asked to speak to a supervisor.   She said she couldnt' cancel then hung up on me.  I called the number back for the Sears activation and spoke to a guy who told me they didn't offer any type of rewards.  He suggested I immediately close the account and reopen with a new number.  What a pain!!  Remember... nothing is free!!  If it sounds too good to be true... IT IS!

They actually called me not once but 3 times and had me excited about a $100 gift certificate to any department store in the U.S. just for $2.95. Then said "because I lived in the city of "Brotherly Love" I gave them my banking information, mailing address, obviously they already had my name and number .I didnt say yes to all their automated questions. So I was never tod my verification number. I hung up after like a minute or two. This guy same guy that from the sound of his accent was from India. He and his "verification supervisor" keep calling me back to get me to give them my information again. There were 4 different companies mentioned the first one name was Netdetective, and through their offer were two other offer one from Buyers Edge the other from Premier Entertainment last but not least was CentralReward. I immediately googled it and came to this site. I start to question these guys they tried to over talk me and still get me to redo the prompt to give them my info again. I said "You have my info already matter fact delete it off your database. I immediately hung up and they continued t call so I called my bank and cancelled my card and habe to go get another one. SMH! THEY ALMOST HAD ME! MUTHASUCKAS!

received a notice in the mail, for $200 gas reward. Man with Indian accent answered, and said $2,95 for processing. When I asked how can I trust this gas card can work, he said he is going to give me some confirmation number. their telephone number was 1-866-751-3437.  I am filing a complaint with the FTC. I asked where is the company based: he said multiple locations. I rudely hung up. The minute they asked for processing fee: that gave me away.

The same story w me too! I was trying to call Perkins loans to make a payment on my loan and I was off by one number and got central rewards! They said all the lines were busy so my call was transferd to the promotional office. I kept asking if they were w Perkins loans and they said yes. The 200 gas voucher sounded too good to be true. By the time I realized it was a scam it was too late b/c I gave them my card info. The foreign accent should've been a dead give away! I Immediately asked them to cancel the transaction b/c I thought it was a scam. I hung up and right away called my bank and canceled my card! What a scam..how could I be so dumb to fall for that! Be aware of this scam!!!!

There must be something that can be done to shut that place down!

Yes, it is them I had the same exact thing to happen to me this weekend and they did authorize a processing fee of $1 and I called my bank to cancel my card.  I have to wait until 12am Monday night for the bank to update their system then I will know what the charge will be.  Once I know what the charges are and try to cancel it tomorrow. Hopefully, I will talk to someone if not I will dispute it with my bank so that I can get my refund.

I called Time-Warner over a connection problem -- which they eventually fixed without a problem for me, and they did it by remote; I didn't have to do a thing but turn the computer off and wait 10 minutes.  But before a Time-Warner technician could get on the phone, another voice came on and said "Yes, you can get to T-W, but there is a long wait period.  So while you are waiting, as a reward for your patience, let me fix you up with a $200 gas coupon -- and on, and on, and on.  First I thought it was a commercial gimmick from T-W.  My daughters saw instantly it was a scam.
I called my credit card co and immediately cancelled the card, asked for new numbers.  No problem.  Credit Card co. was most sympathetic, assured me it was all a scam.  Never again.

Well, I guess I am the stupid of the month now. They have already charged my debit card this month for $49.95 four times. The bank says they cannot reverse debit card transactions. I am going to get something back from these people if I have to go to his house and shoot him.  If anyone has a solution for me, let me know.............

I too got a "Wrong Number" after reading these I'm thinking they break into phones some way !! They told me, that the company I was calling all the reps were busy and would I be willing to hear how I could take advantage of $ 200 free gas while I was waiting. I did so because I thought they were connected to the company I was waiting to talk with !!!Is there no way the Credit cards )Or Police) can'T run this back to who ever is collecting the money and put this thing out of existance ??

Same exact thing happened to me, except I didn't know about the charges until a couple months went by. I called all the phone numbers they gave me up front and cancelled, but I had to get the Central Rewards number from the bank when I called to dispute the $49.95 charges. When I called to cancel that ridiculous magazine subscription they told me I had to pay a $369.00 cancellation fee. I didn't give them that money ...so I immediately cancelled my credit card. What happens when they don't get their money? Are they going to mess up my credit?

Tried to call NY 529 plan today.  Misdialed and call 877-697-2827. Someone said my line was busy but they would transfer me back to my original line after they provide me with the $200 gas voucher.  I just had to give them my name, address and credit card info for a charge of 2.95. When I asked about how I would know that they were legitamate, they said that their company name was central awards, that the conversation was being recorded and that they would give me a confirmation number.  When I kept asking more information and expressed my suspicions, they hung up on me.  Be very careful.  I googled the company while I was on the phone and saw this page.  Thank you for the warning.

I called my mortgage company this morning..maybe I misdialed. On the other end they told me because of the heavy call volume I was the lucky number 10 caller and for only 2.95 I would recieve $100.00 in vouchers. at that time I thought itr was my mortgage comapany and gave them my credit card info..thankfully I decided not to use my debit card. I was then transfered for "verification" and I quickly realized I was being scamed. He said the only way I could cancel was with my confirmation number and I had to go through the automated system and say yes to everything to get it. I hung up and called my credit card company to cancel the card. the 2.95 charge was already on there and I will dispute it and report this. They called themselves Assist123. The man keeps calling and is very volital. He told my husband the name of the company was "Central Rewards" My fraud rep said it definetly sounds like a phishing scam
