I recently realized that I was being billed $12.95 from MNI Credit Reporting on a monthly basis.  I have NEVER used an online reporting tool for my credit score.  Even scarier, there seems to be hundreds of complaints regarding this company throughout the web.  After calling them and being put on hold for over 30 minutes, I decided to try again with similar results.  It appears that this company steal your information, and then you can't reach them to cancel the billing.  If the charge is recurring your credit card company can not get your money back - they deem it as user negligence.  Proceed with MNI and FreeCreditReport.com with caution - They are a slippery group of thieves!

I got a charge on my card from creditreport.com today for $19.95. When I called them to see why they charged me they would only give me the name Don D as the person that used the card. They said they would reverse the charge but I cancelled the card anyway.

Same....19.95 on my discover card.....called, the number...told me it was Patricia S. They can't even help me today, as their "global escalation team" isn't available until Wednesday. This same thing happened to me about two months ago on a different card. There were never any other charges, I suspect it's experian who is the fraud.

Fraudulent charges from this company.  I called a different number through Experian to immediately cancel membership and reverse charges.  Instead of calling the number provided to me by the credit card company, I called 1-877-300-2506.  I know it's only one digit different, but I found the number on a Terms and Conditions document through Experian.  I had already cancelled my credit card so I didn't care if I told them my credit card number online.  I am waiting to see if the charges will be reversed.  What a hassle and rip off.  I never, ever signed up for this service and they told me on the phone that someone by the name of @#$@#%$ signed up for the account.  It wasn't even close to my name.  Beware, check your statements closely.  Also I reported this company and service to the FTC this morning under identity theft.  I will not be messed with.  If the charges aren't reversed I am calling the police.

I had the same thing with 2 charges. 14.95 on 12/20/2011 and $19.95 on 12/22/2011. I called and they said they were going to credit me back. I already cancelled the card and disputed the charges with my bank so I told them not to worry about it because I didn't trust them with any more of my information. They said a Melissa M. had run two reports on herself using my card. So they have her info and won't give it to me. This whole thing sounds like a big scam!

My turn. Thanks to all for posting. I got 2 Experian charges to the same debit card. Scary, since that is cash gone as of this moment. Phone numbers listed in the charge descriptions are 877-3002597 and 877-2977790. Need to call my bank and Experian to resolve during customer service hours. Rest assured, I will file a complaint with FTC, BBB and my state. Also, I will write a letter to various newspapers and magazines to get this investigated. Thanks again for posting, I will reference this site in my letters. DB

I have called Experian (creditreport.com) at 877-2847942. They verified that I do not have an account with them. "Neal M." made the charges on his account to my debit card. Apparently, this transaction does not require the CVV code, but it does require the card expiration date. I asked Experian if they would conduct a fraud investigation, and they said yes. However, they cannot provide me with a copy of it. The operator gave me her name and ID#, but could not provide a confirmation of our transaction (she agreed to reimburse my bank account, no problems). She said his account at Experian would be blocked. How does "Neal M." make any money on this? Or is it just Experian spreading panic to sell their services afterward? Anyway, bank card is cancelled and my bank will conduct a "fraud investigation". Not holding my breath for any revelatory results on that one.

Same thing just happened to me! Cancelled my debit card with my bank and filed a claim for the $19.95 that posted yesterday from "experian" which of course I never requested. When I called experian, they said there were two accounts under Jasmine H. with my debit info. One for creditreport.com that just happened and another from April with freecreditscore.com which were two charges I had never seen: $29.95 + $14.95. They said they were refunding both - now I have to make sure those actually get refunded since I cancelled this debit card number.

This Experian guy's explaination? The person that requested the info must have a very similar debit card number to me and just entered a digit in wrong.

Seems like this is happening a little too often based on these pages of complaints - I will be reporting them - not that I expect anything from that.

I received a $19.95 charge from experian and at first I thought it was related to my enrollment in citi identity monitor but after calling citi they said they are not associated with billing from the credit bureaus. So there is some scam involved here, consequently I had to cancel my credit card and get a new # :( what a scam you can't trust anyone now a days not even financial institutions.

I had the same thing happen to me, but with my credit card.  I had 3 charges for $19.95 to Experian that I never authorized.  I hope that you got everything resolved.

I do not know if you guys have gone crazy or viral.

My brother told me this is a legit charge because they are monitoring my dad's checking account and my brother has it too.  He said if there is anyone opening a credit card or something, he get an alert in his email right away.  He told me to at least monitor for 1 year and said my dad's SSN has been compromised so that is why we need this.  As for me, I monitor my cc and checking account.  I have set up my cc account where I get SMS sent to my phone when any charge is more than $1.  Its free.

So have you guys forgot about this type of monitoring that you had done ???

    You tell me.  :-)

We are not all idiots here....I in no way enlisted the service of Experian to run regular monitoring on my account.  Thanks for checking to see if we are all "crazy or viral".  This is definitely a sales tool to put people in panic mode to enlist their services.

Any chance you used your card at any Airport Parking like 2 weeks prior or so to this fraud. I am in SLC, and i have had this happen on 2 different cards, that was one place I used both cards about two weeks before.

      Hi Mike,
I just noticed these charges on my credit card as well. I'm just wondering which airport parking company you were using and where. I used a place call Johnny Park at LAX and the first charge came just a few weeks after that. I've always suspected this facility of being fraudulent in other ways and indeed they have since gone out of business. If you could please get back to me, I would appreciate it. Thank you!

It's monthly charges for creditreport.com "credit monitoring."  Automatically enrolled when you order a report.  Have to call 1-877-297-7790 to stop it.  Or cancel the card.

Me too!  Just discovered that my cc had been charged twice by Experian. My cc company is crediting the charges and handling the fraud issues.
