I recently realized that I was being billed $12.95 from MNI Credit Reporting on a monthly basis.  I have NEVER used an online reporting tool for my credit score.  Even scarier, there seems to be hundreds of complaints regarding this company throughout the web.  After calling them and being put on hold for over 30 minutes, I decided to try again with similar results.  It appears that this company steal your information, and then you can't reach them to cancel the billing.  If the charge is recurring your credit card company can not get your money back - they deem it as user negligence.  Proceed with MNI and FreeCreditReport.com with caution - They are a slippery group of thieves!

I to just found a 29.95 charge on my account. But I canceled my free trail via e-mail. it took them NINE DAYS which is TWO DAYS AFTER the end of the trial. Is the a legitimate i don't think so. I've had many other trial memberships and they have always been canceled promptly and WITHOUT charge.

I was just looking at my bank statement and found a charge of $14.95 from the same company as everyone else here. I called the 866-883-3309 number listed on the charge and got a customer service rep. The account tied to my credit card did not match any of my personal information. She canceled the account but I have to call back tomorrow (I am guessing because today is Sunday) to speak to their fraud department in order to get the amount taken from my bank account refunded. I am livid about this. I believe I will now have to cancel my card which is my debit card which is linked to most of my monthly bills. This is a huge hassle. I have no idea how they got my account information. I will try to make a complaint to the better business borough but if anyone has any other suggestions on how to make this company pay I am all ears.

I don't think it's possible to get through to their "fraud" department.  I spent over 90 minutes on hold during two calls.  I disputed the charge and cancelled the credit card.  Not sure what else I should do.

I also just noticed a $14.95 charge to my debit card when looking at my bank statement. It happened the past 2 months.  I looked up the number online and found this forum.  This "account" was created when I signed up for a free credit report.  I made sure to say no to anything that was requiring me to pay money.  When I looked at the site again, it shows that it is a 7 day trial.  This doesn't just mean you have access for 7 days- it means we must cancel within 7 days and we'll be charged if we don't.  Many people probably don't even notice that warning on the website.  Anyhow, I called to dispute.  They require an order #, social security, or CC # to access the account.  They said they had been monitoring my account for identity theft, etc. and emailing me updates and alerts (though I have yet to find one in my inbox that I can tell is not spam).  They were only able to give me one month's refund, but I will need to speak with somebody in billing (not currently open due to holiday) in order to dispute further charges.

Don't contact the scammers -- that's like asking a burglar for your stuff back!

Instead, contact your credit card company and let them handle the dispute. (That's what they're there for.) I just got off the phone with Chase; in less than 10 minutes, the merchant has been contacted, the amount has been credited back to my account, and the merchant has been blocked from charging my account.

    Got it too!
Noticed it on my last bill and wasn't able to follow-up due to holidays, etc. Noticed it again this month $14.95. Tried calling the 866 number, but their hours are 6 AM - 6 PM. I plan on waking early to call first thing. I will also be changing my cc number. How is this still happenning even after all the compliants!

    Got it too!
After reading a few of the previous posts, I will take the advice of the previous post and go through my cc company instead of calling the robbers!  I'll let you know how it goes.

    Same story, different person
I noticed 2 charges on my bill from MNI - one for 29.95 and one for 14.95.  Funny part they were just days apart from each other.  I guess I was lucky to get through to them so quickly ... but they did transfer me all over the place!  My experience is like others:  The "Fraud" department told me that someone went online with my credit card number and set this up and used a fake dob, ss#, email address, etc. I was told that I would not be charged again and that they would refund the money back to my account.  Since I'm a little sceptical about these promises, I called my credit card issuer and had them cancel my card.  I'm keeping a closer eye on my card from now on for sure!

I discovered 3 months of $14.95 charges. I called 866-883-3309. They said that my card had been charged, but by someone with another name and SSN. They said I have to call back tomorrow (10AM-6:30PM EST) to speak with someone else. Sounds really suspicious. I'll keep you posted.

Was told that since I had ordered the  "Free Credit Score" back in July, that since I didn't read all the fine print & didn't cancel, I was being charged for them to "monitor" it monthly.  This was to "let me know if there seemed to be fraudulent activity" they could report to me.  Theirs was the only "fraudulent activity".

Followup 2/2/11: Two days after my call to MNI, the three $14.95 charges were reversed on my credit card account. That easy. I will be vigilant to make sure that no more false charges are made and if they are, I'll report back here.

When I made the complaint, they said that someone named "Herb L." with a different address, DOB and SSN ordered the service, so it was the "fraud dept" that handled the call so promptly. The suspicious aspect of this is that my card has not been compromised in any other way. So my suspicion is the "Herb L." is an insider. Their prompt attention to my case may be because of scrutiny they are under due to the large number of complaints.

But I wonder how many they get away with?

I have the same situation. I have been charged to my credit card for 3 month without sign up for their service. When I called them (1-866-883-3309) First they said somebody else with a different name used my credit card to order the service. When I ask them to stop that charge and refund me. They keep asking my all kind of personal information including SSN and DOB. when I refuse to disclose these information to them. They Are very rude and refuse to stop the charging.

I already filed a complaint to FTC (https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/). We need to unite to fight against to these blood sucker.

Just received my credit card bill, very upset, was charged $29.95 for a free credit report from MNICREDITREPORT.com, only received part of credit report.  For some reason transunion was unavailable that day.  I am told to go back and get report for transunion, but I am afraid to do this as I may be charged another $29.95.  I am going to check this out with yhe Federal Trade Commission.  Will never deal with mnicredit report.com.

Well, it is 03/08/2011 and it is still happening. Happened today in fact. I always monitor my account info and studiously balance my funds. ANyway, I noticed this morning that I had a $14.95 charge from guess who....Creditreport.com!!!! I have NEVER let me repeat NEVER signed up with them. The only thing I have ever used was annualcreditreport.com and no cc info was ever entered. So I call my bank this morning to file a claim and dispute the charge. I was put thru to the fraud department so I could be questioned. The woman asks me if I signed up for anything and if I had an account with them etc. To all of those I tell her no. She insists that they will refund my money no problem because they get calls like this all the time..?! WTF! REally? So I tell her that I'll call the merchant and she cancels my claim for the moment. So, I call the merchant, finally get to a live person and they tell me that the information doesn't match up. DUH!!!! Because someone has used my cc info and the person also tells me that Amy E supposedly signed up on 3/7/11!!! Really? I didn't make any transactions that so how in the hell did I sign up with them?!!! At this point I am totally irritated and pissed. So I'm put thru to a supervisor named Adam that assures me my money will be refunded and that this mysterious creditreport.com account will be blocked. After that call, I again call my bank to dispute the charge, block any possible transactions from creditreport.com and cancel my bank card. If my bank had listened to me in the first place then I wouldn't have needed to go thru all of that trouble!! GEEZ!!! But I guess that little stint with the $14.95 for a credit report was just a test for the thieves to see what they could really do. But luckily, I watch my account like a hawk!!!! o.O

Just wanted to add that the number listed for creditreport.com on my bank statement is 1-877-297-7790 for anyone curious and yes I think this is undeniably credit card fraud. Noticed on other threads and sites how some people were called stupid and ridiculed because they didn't "read" the fine print but what about all of us that have NEVER even been to a website or EVER signed up with them. Ugh! I hope that they get a serious dose of Karma and I'll consider myself lucky since it was only $14.95 but I still plan on getting every cent credited back to my account!!! ;'/

    Took care of it
I totally agree with Vicky Kelly from July 2009 -- I contacted my credit card company & told them that there were unauthorized charges on my credit card.  They closed that card & reissued me a new credit card account.  They also advised me to contact their fraud department to submit the MNI*CREDITREPORT.COM charges as fraudulent, since I never agreed to pay for any credit reports.  I think the only way you can "shut them off" is to close off their access to your checking/credit card account. Hopefully, your bank or credit card provider may credit you back those charges...
