I recently realized that I was being billed $12.95 from MNI Credit Reporting on a monthly basis.  I have NEVER used an online reporting tool for my credit score.  Even scarier, there seems to be hundreds of complaints regarding this company throughout the web.  After calling them and being put on hold for over 30 minutes, I decided to try again with similar results.  It appears that this company steal your information, and then you can't reach them to cancel the billing.  If the charge is recurring your credit card company can not get your money back - they deem it as user negligence.  Proceed with MNI and FreeCreditReport.com with caution - They are a slippery group of thieves!

The same thing just happened to me I had a charge on my checking account on 1/17/2012. The details of the transaction say "Experian *CreditRepo 01/14 CARD #1234 PURCHASE #24351782123455555 877-2977790, CA". I never requested or authorized this, didn't even speak to anyone, wasn't even on any credit report website in the last 2 yrs. I called the 877 number and when they started asking for my entire card number in order to access the account, I hung up & googled them. This is all over the scam and complaint websites. I'm currently talking to my bank, I'm guessing it'll be a minute before I get that back since it's been processed already.

Creditreport.com has to be a scam center. How can a person have my debit card number illegally, use it online and have it approved? When I try to make a purchase, everything has to match online. I have no idea how they got the debit card number. Bank of America says that they have had a lot of complaints the same day. The police officer that I filed a report with said it happened to her. Why isn't this hitting the news and why is it being ignored?

There was $14.95 charge from Experian on my card.  I tried so many different numbers, but could not get through.  This is the only one where I finally got to talk to someone:
    714-830-7000

He asked me about three different names that he said had filed for reports under my card number.  He removed the charge from my card.

I have been reading about so many complains of fraudulent charges from them.  Isn't it strange that a company that specializes in credit security, is experiencing all these fraudulent charges?  Just saying....

Same thing happened to my wife's debit card. EXPERIAN CREDITREPOR 877 2977790 * CA $19.95 charge, never used the service or even been to the website. When she called a credit report was ordered for someone named Judy...not my wife's name or the name on the card...yet they used the card and approved it. I just happened to google the phone number and found this and it seems that this is a problem the past week.

Very similar thing - first had a $100 fraudulent charge for an unrelated online clothes merchant on my credit card, followed a few days later by a $14.95 "monthly" charge to Experian on 12/24, and then a $19.95 "monthly" charge to Experian on 12/26. I had not had any contact with Experian and had certainly never provided my credit card number to them or any other bureau. I never called Experian, but instead contacted my credit card company, who refunded the charges and placed them "under investigation". My credit card was cancelled and a new one was issued.

Now to my bewilderment, I just saw a new $14.95 charge from Experian on my NEW card on 1/24. I'm waiting to see if I'll get the second "monthly" charge of $19.95 today, the 26th, before I take action. It appears that my credit card company has forwarded or provided my new card info to the very merchant (Experian) who I reported had fraudulently charged my card last month!!!! Seriously, what on earth is going on here?

Experian also began charging my account after an online clothes merchant began charging my card unauthorized, for their "rewards" program.   I contacted my bank to have my card closed & re-issued.  Such a pain but really the only way to get it fixed.  When you call the 877 # for Experian, they cannot find you in their system unless you give them your card #, birthdate, etc....no way I am trusting them with that info!  I asked how they cannot find me with last name and zip code...she tried but said nothing would pull up....yea, right!

I have the identical story.  Was told that Jamecia M (interesting that many of these last names began with "M")
ordered the credit report.  They required my credit card number (which I immediately then cancelled).
Has anyone gotten any logical answers from any "fraud department"?  Our credit card company was eager to
investigate ME, to see if indeed I ordered the report.  The person on the experian line was "hemming and hawling"
"asking his supervisor"...etc.  Any class action suits going on?  Maybe facebook would be interested!
Interesting that my first thought was "does this affect MY credit report".   Let's see....maybe Experian should
check that out for me...I DON"T THINK SO!!!!

This just happened to us.  We had a charge on our cc statement "Experian *CretitReport 877-2977790 CA"

Do not call them, do not give them any more information.

Experian charged my credit card 19.95 without my consent. When I called the phone number listed next to the charge on my credit card statement, the person said "we have no record of that charge, perhaps you used a different credit card.  Can you give me the account numbers for any other credit or debit cards you have?"  HELLO!?!?!  I flat out refused and she was very rude.  This is obviously a scam. We all need to check every credit card statement very carefully.  This is one class action law suit I would like to be a part of!

EXPERIAN *FREECREDS 877-3002507 ,CA 92865 charged $14.95 to my cc.
First, I'm from Canada, so this scam is reaching far.

Many phone calls later, I have been assured I will receive a refund and they have blocked the account, but Experian was unable to block my credit card from being used again in their system. Why don't they make the account number the same as the credit card so they can block this?

I am highly annoyed at this whole process. Looks like I'll have to get a new cc, but make sure my credit card company doesn't PASS ALONG THE NEW NUMBER... AGAIN! Turns out Experian was using an old card number and my cc company just passed along the new number when Experian tried a pre-authorized charge. stupid!

Why doesn't Experian ask for the CVV code? Why don't they match cardholders to the order placer. so stupid!

Same thing happened on my AmEx card - $19.95 for 3 months in a row. Both Experian and creditreport.com do not have me on their systems. AmEx rocks - they are reversing the charges back to the company and putting a vendor block on my account so that they cannot charge my account again. AmEx said they've been having a lot of these pop up.

My wife and I just got a message from Chase, our credit card company, this evening to alert us to some potentially fraudulent charges on our card.  After hearing the voicemail, I immediately logged into to see our recent CC activity.  There were over $6000 in fraudulent charges on the card in one day!  We called Chase right back and had all of the charges reversed INCLUDING a charge to Experian.  Luckily we had just paid off the card right before these charges occurred so we closed the account (we were planning on it anyway).

I am now worried that whoever ordered the credit report now has enough information to open up other lines of credit.  Is it worth going through the trouble of putting a "fraud alert" on all of the credit reporting agencies?

I, too, had three months' worth of $19.95 charges from Experian that I never requested.  I call a rep, who turned out to be someone in India or Bangladesh based on the heavy foreign accent, and they asked me for my name, birthdate, credit card number, and so on.  I told them about the charge and that they needed to look up my name because I do not have an account with that company.  I refused to provide any of the data requested because they had the burden of proof to prove they had an account with my name.  Of course the rep said she found my name and account but "couldn't verify a charge" without my credit card.  I said you can try the last four digits and find it that way.  No, gee, they couldn't.  Experian is a fraud, a scam, plain and simple.
