We have been receiving unwanted phone calls from Northland Group since 5/18/2007. They call from 1-866-380-8783 every day and ask for a person whose name I've never heard before.

It seems as someone used our address and phone number in their loan application, and Northland Group is trying to collect the debt.

For some reason people from Northland Group refuse to believe that the person they are looking for is not leaving with us, and continue their harassing calls.

I submitted my complaint to FTC, but I thought I should also let know here about this issue.

    Iam getting phone calls that show up on my caller ID as 'Brivia Comm LLC' 440 372 6033. (Cleveland Ohio area code) When I called back the company name was 'Northland Group' I guess they are using a local number so people from the area would not ignore the call like you probably would if it were an 800 number. I don't owe any money, and I'm also glad I found this site.  I will not answer these calls.

    Got a letter from unknown company. Googled it and found Northland Group who I never knew. Mailed it back as Return to sender. No Aszhwle with a computer is gonna bother me. These fools buy stolen data (probably from offshore) and try to really collect on closed accounts!

    This is incorrect as well, by law collectors cannot add on to the debt. You should really read up on this.

    To everyone else regardless if you owe a debt or not, please do not cave to these strong arm tactics, there are many Fair Debt law Firms that will take a case for no money as when they win, they will collect their attorney fees from the judgement against the offending company, and if they are in violation of the law, ie, calling at work, calling cell phone, after hours, threatening lawsuit, wage garnishment, there are many more, you are then entitled to $1000. This is not from the media either, this is from my fair debt attorney. A rule of thumb, do not believe what a collection agency will tell you unless you can verify it with an attorney, do your research and know that you have rights regardless if you owe a debt or not.

    I just got a call from these guys waking me up, asking for a cindy nguyen. I told them they have the wrong number and he started yelling at me saying no, this is cindy I know it. I told him no my name is cathy and that he has the wrong #. he insists that I'm cindy and then said if I'm not cindy then how come my voicemail says cindy. I told him I don't know and that I'm not her. he yelled at me and said I have a very distinct voice so he knows I'm cindy. I then yelled back and said this is harrassment, he said its not cause he knows he's talking to cindy. he then ask me for my full name and I said its cathy tran. he said "so you're cathy tran but you don't know cindy nguyen" very condescendingly and accusing me..being very racist, just because I'm vietnamese doesn't mean I know every nguyen out there! so he finally said, FINE have a nice day and hung up..being really rude about it..so by this time I couldn't fall back to sleep, so I called back the # and spoke to someone else and told them everything how he was being rude and harrassing and yelling at me and they should take my number off their list. he agreed, let's see if they do tomorrow :(

    Bill collectors are [***]. I have told Northland over and over to stop calling me asking for someone I have never heard of and they keep calling me. This should be criminal.

    I keep getting calls from 877-867-3787 which I looked up and it is Nothland Group. They call my house day after day and I just got my phine number about six months ago

    I don't understand
    I keep getting collection calls for someone who doesn't live at my house and who I've never met. I keep telling the collectors that I don't know that person and that I get lots of calls for this person. But they still keep calling me. Many times each week. What the hell?

    Harassment
    I get calls from them every day, asking for someone who doesn't live here. The latest trick that these slimebags are using is to have the caller ID show them as a local call. I'm in Maryland, so their calls show up with a 410 area code, and the caller ID says "Annapolis MD". I now recognize the "local" number they're using, so I can avoid answering the calls. They leave a recorded message saying to call back at 877-867-3787.

    I hate all the harrasing phone calls am getting, our country is in a recession.  I have been working for over a year and trying to consolidate my credit cards and these companies don't get it, they can call me all they want i dont have to pick up the phone, dont have time for that.

    i received a call today after dealing with the same issue for over a year now. the person they are looking for died last year but the are now starting to call once again but a different collection agency. they are now calling a neighbor, how in the hell did that answer. i was the person's son, whose father had passed away and had owed a substantial amount on a hospital bill. this debt is being passed aroind from whomever buys it next and this process starts ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!!! what can a person do when they just re-sell the debt and it appears this will go on forever!! scumbags need to be put in jail!!!!! they sell the debt over and over and over again and keep harassing the next of kin till whenever only GOD knows!!! really disgustiuing bunch of creeps!!!!!

    There are many good attorneys that can help with these problems one of which is Credit Stoppers, they are  very good.

    Keep one thing in mind when it comes to these type situations “document…document…document!

    GIVE IT UP!
    It is against the law to place harassing phone calls to a person's place of employment. If you had a brain and knew the ins and out of the law you would refrain from doing so. I understand you are money hungry sob's but once you get slapped with a complaint, will see how tough you are them. [***]...............................
