Harassing Phone Calls

Complaint

We have been receiving unwanted phone calls from Northland Group since 5/18/2007. They call from 1-866-380-8783 every day and ask for a person whose name I've never heard before.

It seems as someone used our address and phone number in their loan application, and Northland Group is trying to collect the debt.

For some reason people from Northland Group refuse to believe that the person they are looking for is not leaving with us, and continue their harassing calls.

I submitted my complaint to FTC, but I thought I should also let know here about this issue.

There are many good attorneys that can help with these problems one of which is Credit Stoppers, they are  very good.

Keep one thing in mind when it comes to these type situations “document…document…document!

    GIVE IT UP!
IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO PLACE HARRASING PHONE CALLS TO A PERSON'S PLACE OF EMPLOYEMENT. IF YOU HAD A BRAIN AND KNOW THE INS AND OUT OF THE LAW YOU WOULD REFRAIN FROM DOING SO.  I UNDERSTAND YOU ARE MONEY HUNGRY SOB'S BUT ONCE YOU GET SLAPPED WITH A COMPLAINT, WILL SEE HOW TOUGH YOU ARE THEM.  [***]...............................

People that make their living off the misery of others(this means you) don't really deserve any sort of recognition as human beings.  And you should try to get your money back on that degree since you apparently can't spell the word "interest" correctly!

I have been getting harassing calls from several debt collector and Northland group for the last 7 mths i moved here to NC from NY and I am pissed TWC want to charge me $80 to have my number changed for a rectcled # they gave me. These bill collectors are looking for someone else and i have been getting his calls BBB dont take these type of complaints and dept of Consumer affairs/Attny General are supposed to help but nobody does anything to help. I have told these debt collectors over & over again that the person their looking for does not live here or ever live here and they still harass me even when I tell them to remove my number off their list.  They are [***] ! They dont want to leave their names or transfer you to a manager to resolve the issue.

Yeah, they rang me with a computer which told me to hold for the next rep who needed to talk with me. This lasted several minutes and was quite annoying. Finally a telemarketer came on the line and asked for someone and when I drilled him he said that he was from the Northland group and would not call me anymore. We will see if this holds true...

I have been getting calls from these parasites at Northland Group for months. I have no debt. paid cash for my house and cars. credit rating north of 800. One credit card that I have had for decades. I have requested they remove my telephone number numerous times. I am a software engineer with 30+ years in the profession. I specialize in network security and financial software applications for the largest banks and brokerage firms on the planet. My next move, (if they persist in calling me) is to breach their systems security and destroy their database. I also intend to obtain their employee list and war dial these losers at home. They have been warned. I have the mother of all viruses in the can waiting for their next call. It will target only their systems. War has been declared. A war I fully expect to win.

I am the receptionist for my company, which has been in business a little over two years. We are owned by a larger corporation, and have no debts.

I have been receiving hang-up calls from an 800 number with a 942 prefix, identified on the caller ID as Northland Group. I do not know who Northland is looking for at this number since the caller hangs up, without speaking, as soon as I answer. Obviously, I cannot inform the caller that he/she has reached the wrong number/company if I'm not given the opportunity to do so. How difficult is that to understand?

And, yes, I do know what I'm talking about. I'm guessing that the caller realizes he/she has the wrong number after hearing the greeting and therefore disconnects the call. So, why does someone from Northland Group continue to call?

Whenever collection agency trying to collect money from you so make sure they are from your own state, I never answered the phone because I am deaf and I checked the calling id so I can look up internet to see who's calling, Northland Group so I know it's not from my state.  So do your research on "Credit Alert", I thanked my mom that she was former collection agency and gave me information about my state.  My state that no collection agency (out of state) can not collect anything from me unless it's from my state must be licensed in order to call or send mail to your state residents.  As a condition of licensing, the law also requires an agency to maintain an (your state) office and employ an (your state) resident as the active manager.

I just want to give customer's heads up and hope this will help.  Do the research about state collection agency law.

William, I just received another call from the Northland group. When I tell them "No the person you are looking for does not live here" the lady that keeps calling says to me "well when will she be home?" WHAT THE F! It took me 3 weeks to find out where she is calling from cause I dont have caller ID. I wish these people  would stop calling. So I ask you, what would you do if you had a collector for someone else calling your house everyday for about 6 months...after You've told them over and over that the person they are asking for doesn't live at the number they are calling??
