Harassing Phone Calls
Complaint
Gloria Engle
Country: United States
We have been receiving unwanted phone calls from Northland Group since 5/18/2007. They call from 1-866-380-8783 every day and ask for a person whose name I've never heard before.
It seems as someone used our address and phone number in their loan application, and Northland Group is trying to collect the debt.
For some reason people from Northland Group refuse to believe that the person they are looking for is not leaving with us, and continue their harassing calls.
I submitted my complaint to FTC, but I thought I should also let know here about this issue.

Keep one thing in mind when it comes to these type situations “document…document…document!
I have been receiving hang-up calls from an 800 number with a 942 prefix, identified on the caller ID as Northland Group. I do not know who Northland is looking for at this number since the caller hangs up, without speaking, as soon as I answer. Obviously, I cannot inform the caller that he/she has reached the wrong number/company if I'm not given the opportunity to do so. How difficult is that to understand?
And, yes, I do know what I'm talking about. I'm guessing that the caller realizes he/she has the wrong number after hearing the greeting and therefore disconnects the call. So, why does someone from Northland Group continue to call?
I just want to give customer's heads up and hope this will help. Do the research about state collection agency law.
