Contact the Nevada Attorney General or the Nevada Department of Business and Industry Financial Institutions Division.  They may be operating out of Nevada as an unlicensed and therefore illegal debt collector, in violation of a cease and desist order, as well as engaging in numerous reported violations of federal and state debt collection law.

"Said he needed info about a check.  When I called back told them I had prove that this had been taken care of."

Sounds like they already know they have a bunch of old payday loan data on already paid debts.

On top of the above course to determine if they are even legally operating, send a letter, certified, disputing the debt and demanding that they send validation (proof) from the original creditor that it is owed.

You might also contact the original lender directly, since if they verify your loan was paid (information you already have through your bank records), and FFG comes back with just some letter they cooked up claiming it is still owed, include in your Nevada AG complaint that they are fraudulently attempting to collect on a paid debt.

Also be aware that debt collectors collecting on alleged payday loans are often reported to claim that "you passed a bad check", followed by threats that you have committed some crime and will be prosecuted if you fail to pay them immediately.  Such threats are often used against consumers who dispute the accuracy of the alleged debt, or even whether they are the actual debtor.

This is an illegal and deceptive talk-off, and violates FDCPA as well as state debt collection laws, since although it is common practice to provide post-dated checks to payday lenders, those checks were known by the lender to not be covered when the loan was originally taken out.

A payday loan is like any other loan, only more expensive.  Not paying it is a civil matter, not a crime, and threats to "prosecute" or "have you arrested" are illegal, just as they are when used in connection with debt collection of other debts.

Been in the telecom industry, I can tell you spoofing is illegal, you can always use other resources to follow thru. You may want to contact The US attorney general, the FCC as well as the FTC. Also if this is interstate you can actually contact the FBI.

Based on the law, they cannot contact you at your place of business. They are only legally able to contact you at your home; you can also send a stop and desist letter via certified mail.

Record their conversation, when you speak to them if you do, many of them have no clue of the law and make drastic mistake threatening people.  They can't make any statements in which they can destroy your credit, call your family, call your work and or tell everybody that you have debts and you do not pay, this is protected by the law. IN this case now you have the upper hand, as now they open the door for a lawsuit, almost any attorney will take this type of cases on contingency. Is an infringement of your rights and punish by law. This people use scare tactics to scare people and even collect many times the same debts that have been paid previously.
The reality  nothing that they can do, if you do not or can't pay, they must take you to court and get a judgment against you, then they need to be able to collect.
You want to get even, call then day in and day out, to their numbers use redial, and have anybody that you know do the same, do it day in and day out, that will shut down their PBX system, if they do it to you do it to them.
Yes annoying, but effective if hundreds of people do the same and saturate their phone lines.
Remember their 800 are free to you, they pay for it, call put them on hold and have your friend do the same, do this every day as much as you can. IF they have the right to harass you, you have the right to do the same to them. They called you first!

If you want to negotiate a settlement call your original lender directly, do not with this scan bags, they are in commissions or percentages based. Many banks and lender will negotiate up to 80 % of the debts, make sure they do not report it to the IRS if not they can make you pay the taxes on the remaining amount, and make sure they clean your credit, get it in writing first.

    Don't get mad get even.

People which do block the caller ID and or use Spoof numbers always have something to hide, that is the only reason they will use a Spoof number (Fake number / Voip Number / Or PBX number whit no actual connection only rings and then dies)   Report them to the Authorities, this business practices are illegal and punish by law: if they use spoof numbers, Obscene and rude language, threats, harassment, all this are felonies and punish by law. Report them to your Local Telecom provider, your local District attorney, the local police department, your local senator, record the conversation and keep any and all voice mail left, don't be afraid, they can do absolutely nothing to you till they take you to court if you owe them any money, is futile to argue with ignorant people.

I keep getting a call from Jim about a check I wrote and needs to verify some information for security reasons. I don't write checks. Message is left for me to call an 877 number. My daughter has also gotten this same message. This seems like an identity theft scam. Once they have your bank information they can wipe out your account.

I have been getting these calls for ever now INCLUDING my work- but today they finally put a "real person" on my voice mail saying he needed some info on a check i wrote for "security purposes", which I assume is an automated message. Well I called and its from a payday loan I had since last october! So I called and they said I had passed a bad check and its a crime and I needed to pay by 6pm today! I am so frustrated with them I filed a complaint against them on the FTC website.

As indicated above, their claims to be collecting on a payday loan may be suspect.

In addition, it is common practice with payday loans to provide a postdated check that is not covered at the time of the loan, but doing so is not a "crime", although debt collectors often claim it is.   An unpaid defaulted loan is generally a civil matter.

They try to get your personal information. She told me about a loan but she had the wrong person because and it wasn't my name. She then stated I was going to jail for fraud when I told her that she got the right first name but someone elses last name and I never took out a loan in my life. I called the police and got them to trace the number for fraud.

I keep getting calls from a Gary at FFG & Associates regarding someone I work with.  I directed him to our HR department but he keeps calling me regarding another person's personal information.  He is a very rude man and will not contact the proper areas to get HIS (not mine) issue resolved.  Funny thing is that he has also contacted others in our department regarding the same issue and was AGAIN directed to the HR dept.  Myself nor my fellow co-workers can make another employee call him regarding their debt, nor is it any of our business.  This company (legit or not) has very poor business practices if they will discuss and even harass others regarding the personal debt of someone else.

Received call from Dan Rizzio w/ "FFG and Assoc" stating I had debt w/ them. Called him back and he said that he purchased my file from the credit card company and that he would settle for $2200 (which is the amount for the debt owed). He said that if I did not agree to pay w/ in 24 hours, that I my case would be turned over to attorneys in my area. He said that if I did not settle the debt then I would be sued for the entire amount plus be responsible for the attorney/legal fees (which he said would be another $3000-$4000). I told him that there was no way that I can come up w/ that amount in 24 hours and he told me to ask friends, parents, take out a loan, do something so that the debt could be settled. I called him back 2 hours later, and told him that I can pay him $500. He said that he had already turned over my file to the legal dept and would have to get it from them and make sure that they did not FedEx my file (to where he would not state). He said that he would call me back.

Dan Rizzio called me back and said that the best they could do is drop the settlement down to $2000 ($1000 due w/ in 24-hours and the remainder due w/ in the end of the month). I asked him for his mailing address, in the event I wanted to send them something in writing. He asked why I would need that and I said that in the event I wanted to send them anything in written form. He asked if it was for a cease and desist letter or for another letter that I was wanting to send and I again stated, anything I wanted to write you. He said that they have different addresses and depending on what I wanted to send, the address would be different. I asked for all of the addresses and he said that he would not give me all of the addresses. I then said if my attorney wants to contact you, what address would he use and he prov: 631 N STEPHANIE ST, BOX#419, HENDERSON, NV 89014. He said that I can have my attorney contact him directly and he would get his corporate attorney on the phone w/ my attorney and maybe they can work out something better. He wished me luck and asked what I wanted to do w/ the new settlement offer. I told him that I would get back to him w/in 24 hours.

I was just sued by this company (FFG and assoc) or (Frontier Financial) everything that they said would happen, did! They work with a network of attorneys who can and will sue you. I recieved a call from Mr. Jamison with FFG about a debt that I  owed. He gave me the chance to pay what I owed and even offered me an out of court settlement. I explained that I did not have the money to pay right now. He informed me that the decision has been made to pursue me legally if I do not pay. I told him to do what he had to do and I hung up on him thinking he was just threatening me. Two weeks later I was served (at work) with papers to go to court. I was sued for the debt that I owed plus attorney fees and other stupid legal fees. My wages are currently being garnished for this debt and I have a civil judgement on my record. I don't know about the other people on here but I can tell you that these people or this company is not a scam! I should have taken advantage of the out of court settlement. Now I'm paying almost double what I really owe. If you owe the money, and you are in a state where they can garnish wages or attach assets etc, you should be careful. These people will sue you. Especially if you are employed and/or have any assets. I would suggest simply communicating with them and trying to resolve the matter. But I can definetly confirm that these people are real, they do have a network of attorneys that can and will sue you. Hope this helps!

Note that both "Jill" and "Kelly" have similar language style and content.  The posts both show evidence of being constructed to create the same perception.

It is amazing how many complaints against this company on various sites are from people who don't write checks.  Many people today pay online.

This sounds like a variant of the phony "old debt, pending lawsuit" racket, complete with the phony shill "panicked consumer" posts commonly used in those schemes.

As a collection agency, they are required by FDCPA to send you a letter within 5 days notifying you of your right to dispute the alleged debt.

Contact your state Attorney General, and the Nevada Department of Financial Institutions, responsible for licensing collection agencies in Nevada.

    They are listed here:

If a creditor hires an attorney or law firm or even a collection agency to sue you, there isn't much you can do! They will prove in court that you owe the money and then the creditor will be awarded a judgement. Once they have the judgement they can start garnishing your wages and/or place a lien on your home or other assets! Best advice would be to pay your bills! Worst thing you can do is ignore your creditors.
    Hope this helps!

"If a creditor hires an attorney or law firm or even a collection agency to sue you, there isn't much you can do! "

Another indicator of a shill post, consistent with other shill posts connected to threads about this company.  Note again the similar style, and the intent to create the perception of certainty in a legal process that may never even happen.  The prior post that this responds to may be a shill as well.

With this company, there are numeous complaints pointing to harassment of people who owe them nothing.  They may not even be "your" creditors.

If you are being harassed over alleged debts you don't owe, contact a consumer attorney, to discuss suing over FDCPA violations.
