I got a call on my cell phone regarding credit card debt relief. . I was transferred to nakisha,  asked if I wanted to continue, they asked for $600 or $60.00 to send me the paperwork and for the consultation. When I asked them what it was for she said they would deduct from my first payment but would not tell me what the money was for FINALLY SHE  said yes.

THE FIRST TIME THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD APPLY TO MY CREDITORS BUT WHEN THEY CONVINCED ME TO RECORD MY VOICE THAN THEY SAID IT WAS ONLY A FEE FOR THE CONSULTATION!!!

. No fees should be sent to anyone for additional information requested on a company or program

she has been harrasing me telling that i have to pay this amount or else! and that they can take me to court becaues they have my voice accepting!! !  unfortunally i gave many personal information!!
what happends now??
i never signed anything!!!!

"Consumer Law Group - Representative TODD - was very aloof and uncooperative when I asked him simple questions."

Here's how the call went down...

I got a solicitation call from India. It was a lady asking if I had unsecured debt.  I was curious so I continued on the call.  She had my phone number (obviously) and my home address.  She asked for credit cards, amount of debt and interest rate amounts.  I would not give her credit card names but gave her a rough amount and a range on the rates.

She then got someone on the line Stateside.  When I asked, she said the company name was FIREROCK. She was supposedly a "verifier".  She forced me to give names of credit card companies before she'd connect me with a "specialist", so I told her two names of card companies.

She then connected me up with a guy named Todd.  I told him that before I continued, I'd like some info about the company to whom I was about to disclose this info to.

I asked for the name of the company and he said, "Consumer Law Group."

I asked, where are you based.  He said, "It's a nation wide company"

I asked where the headquarters was and he repeated the nation wide answer.  It was at this point that I realized that we were dealing with something shady.

So I asked if there's a phone number I could call should we get disconnected.  He said there's no number that I could call in to but at the end of the call, he'd give me a number.

I asked how long they've been in business. After a pause, he said, "9 Years".

I then asked if there are local offices in my area.  He said (repeated), "We have offices all over the country."

He seemed VERY indignant that I should nerve to ask HIM questions.

I thanked him and said that I would not need their services.

This call upset me very much and I am going to copy this post to my state Attorney General.

This type of calling is just plain wrong.  When people are so afraid to give you their company info, we should BEWARE!!!

Thanks for letting me vent.  Be wise - beware!!!

    :)

Ok here is a update on my dealings with Consumer Law Group. I will start from the top. Oct of 2007 I called CCCS (Consumer credit consiling service) spelling may be off as it is almost 1am in I am sitting here fumming. They took all my info including all my creditors. I was then told that they were refering me to a company called Capital Law Group out of Boca Raton Fl. It was set up that they were going to take my $28,000.00 worth of credit cards and loans and get it settled for Approx $12,520.00 they would be charging me a fee of $5000 to do this. I say ok lets do it. They set up it that I would make 48 payments of $365 a month. I need to fax them a copy of all my debts that I was putting in the program along with a hardship letter.Ok sounds fair to me. They go on to tell me that I need to stop paying the credit cards and loans so that the accounts will be in the negtive so that they can get them to settle for a lesser amount made since to me, why would someone be willing to take a lesser amount if they are getting the whole amount the old fashion way, so I stopped paying the bills. In Feb 08 i get a letter from The Consumer Law group (noting different people for the 2 nd time) stating that they were taking over my account from captial law group along with a letter from them stating that they were ceasing their prior operations. Ok whatever lets move on don't care who is doing it just get me out of my debt right? Every thing quite and running smoothly creditors are not calling me to hound me for money although they are locating members of my family including in-law (hubby's name not on accounts) I tell family members to tell them I don't live there and to quit calling. Calls to them have stopped so far. Oct 08 Cunsumer Law group calls to tell me that one of my creditors are ready to settle for 60% less then I owe. I tell them "great lets get it settle and btw I got a letter yesterday from a law office stating that so and so (another creditor) are taking legal action against me for none payment" I was then told on really? Well lets put this first account on hold we need to work something out with the 2nd to stop them from taking the legal action. I then fax them the papers on the 2nd. Time goes by I don't hear anything from anybody I'm sitting here thinking OK no news is good news right. BOOM Dec 8th I am served with law suite papers from 2nd creditor mentioned above. I try to call Consumer law group again to tell them what is up now. The line rings I get a recorded message that all reps are busy and my call will be answered in the order in which it was recieved after sitting on hold for 10 minutes (using a cell phone gggrrrrr) it goes to voice mail. I leave a message telling them what is going on and to please contact me asap. 2 days go by I hear nothing. I then scan the papers into my computer and email them over to the email address I have on them along with note please contact me asap about this another 2 days go by I call back finally get someone on the phone and she confirms that they got the email. She tells me someone from their legal department will call me in the next few days to advise me how to take care of this I then ask her what does she mean by that, that I am paying them 5 grand to handle things like this. I am then told that when someone calls me from the legal department they will work on getting this settled for me. Ok feel a little better now but I start asking more questions. "Ok lets say they the creditor agrees to settle the case out of court for half the amount I owe $7000 (owe 15,900) where do this funds come from? I am told that, that is up to me I then ask what do you mean by that I am then informed that I have 0 dollars in my account. I blow a head gasket at this point and ask (or shall I say scream) what the hell are you talking about you guys have been taking $365.00 a month out of my checking account for the past 14 months. She then tells me that the first 16 payments go towards my fees the 17th payment goes into my settlement account to pay creditors. So here I sit out of $5100 having paid my creditors one red cent for the past 14 months but yet Consumer law group hasn't paid them or talked to them either. Now I am being sued and If I want to get it settled before going to court I have to [***] x amount of dollars. I hang up with them and get my phone book out and call the orginal number I called when all this crap started CCCS. I tell them what has been going on for the past year and I am told that they do not refer people out because they do the debt stuff their selves. Ok now I am confused why was I put in touch with these other people in the first place if your company doesn't refer people out. I am then told that back when I called they were using a differnt call center and although they screen the employee the best they can some might slip through the cracks. But he can not confirm or deni that this is the case with my account. He then askes me for my info so he can run my name through his system (duh if I was referred out I'm not going to be in there) sure enough I am not. He says he doesn't understand that because clients stay in the system for 10 years. Don't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out but I tell him anyway. If someone in your office was referring people to a friend or something instead of the money going into your company she never put my info in your system. I then tell him Your firm got me into this mess now you have to get me out. He says I am so sorry about this lets get your info and connect you to a consuler he starts taking my in then connects me. I get on the phone with another guy. He starts asking me all my personal info then the light ball goes on in my head WAIT STOP. I have been through this already with your firm and got into all this mess How do I know that it is not starting all over again? I want to walk into a office and talk to someone face to face. He says he understand and doesn't have a problem with that. That I need to call the local branch and set a appointment. So here I sit no car to get there and no money to pay to get it started (you know they want something) with a law suite hanging over my head. Afriad to stop consumer law group from taking the money from my account everymonth cause I have the "contract" called a local lawyer the only advice she could give was call the attroney general and file a complaint and file bankrupcty (guess she wants me to hire her so she can take the money I don't have) I call the attroney general office she tells me there is nothing they can do to get my money back that I need to go to their website and file a complaint online and to go to the website for the AG in Flordia and file a complaint there also. So there you have it in a nutshell ITS A SCAM IN MY OPION. Now to figure out how to get out of it. Got a piece of mail today about a FHA loan up to 271,000 for 6% apr guess I am calling them in the morning to see if I can go that route and just pay everything off and be done with it. Figured I need 150,000 to clear everything up including my house note and van note. For anyone out there needing to get out from under the credit cards don't call a debt relief place! You lose in the end with bigger head aches then you started with. Call about 2nd mortgages or one big loan with someone who is leggit. Wish I would have. Good luck and god bless. Hope everyone has a safe and merry christmas

    Ms. D.
I googled Consumer Law Group b/c today Credit Services called to offer me help with my debt. The questioning is along the lines of the others on this site. The fee of $49 a month sounded like alot, and I thought that I could just handle it myself, but it did sound tempting to have it all taken care of. Yikes! I am certainly glad that I read all of the above. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Here is the name and number I have:
Consumer Law Group, Yolanda 866 659-2709.
Thank you for all the assistance in sorting this through.
Let's hope 2009 will see some integrity in our country.

God, Its amazing how people believe anything they read.  The Consumer Law Group is completely different from the Consumer Law Center.

My company is one of many companies that refer business to the Consumer Law Group.  Just because one person may not know how to handle his job does not make the Consumer Law Group shady, or unreputable. Do you homework people.

Use the BBB.org.  Consumer Law Group has a positive rating.

they stopped calls from your creditors meaning you will have no warning when you get sued because the law group didnt settle on the debts fast enough nor did they keep in contact w/ the creditors for you. this happened to me. i was happy the calls stopped and thought everything was being taken care of because i had noone calling me to tell me any different. i got served at work and that is how i found out nothing was being done inregards to my debts

your stupid. you sign up for a credit card, spend all the money on the card and complain to the reps on the phone because you agreed to the interest, spent the money and changed your mind. canceling the card doesnt mean you dont owe the debt. just pay it back. it makes no sense to blame others for your stupidity. i must say karma is a b%$#@ and when it comes back to you for acting so stupid i hope i'm there to laugh. you dont need to threaten people to get a settlement and you dont need an outside agency to do it either. i settled on my debt my damn self. i was able to get around 50% saving on all debts and i didnt need to pay someone else to do it for me

i hope they are not like the consumer law center. this place was shut down by the state and now they have their clients money in limbo. these places are crazy and it's scarey how they all scam you out of funds you obviously need.

Robin I am proud you found the way to settle your own debt.  I believe the same as you.  I have a mother who demanded me to give her 25,000.00 ten years ago so she and my father could avoid bankruptcy.  I told her no way in **** would I do that.  I wasn't the one whom incured her debt for her and I wasn't going to be the one to pay it for her either.
I did however look for ways for her to be able to settle the interest rates to be able to afford to pay for her debts.  You see noone settles to agree to pay a higher interest rate on credit cards.  They are usually given a descent one at the time of signing up, but might have been two days late on payment and then their interest rates sky rocketed.  I asked that you be proud of yourself but don't be too judgemental on others unless you know the true reason for their debts which could be medical debts and they might have used their credit cards while laid off to survive.  The reason are endless.  I have always used the knowledge of whether you smoke or not, that if you can spend $5.00 a day on a pack of cigs then you have $5.00 a day to save back for emergencies..  Since sharing my information with my parents they have never incured a debt since then.   Everything is possible in this life and advise and support is what others need.  Not negativity!   I too am a get her done her damn self girl, but I am a giver of knowledge too to help others....
The Consumer Law Group, Boca Raton, FL Helped my parents out then and they are still here now for others.  Just make sure you can afford to pay the monthly rate, which is way less then having six to ten other amounts like it in a month...  Good Luck to everyone searching and making an effort to pay back their debts.  At least you haven't filed bankruptcy to escape it all!

    BEVERLY J. HARPER
I AM AN ATTORNEY IN HOUSTON, TEXAS AND I WAS CONTACTED ON 02/10/09 BY MYCONSUMERLAWGROUP TO REDUCE MY INTEREST RATES ON MY CREDIT ACCOUNTS.  BEFORE I GAVE THE REPRESENTATIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION, I TERMINATED THE PHONE CALL TO CHECK THE WEB SITE GIVEN TO ME BY THE REPRESENTATIVE.  AT ALL TIMES I WAS TREATED WITH COURTESY, EVEN COMPASSION AND PROFESSIONALISM.  I CONTACTED CAPITOL ONE WITH WHOM I HAVE TWO CREDIT ACCOUNTS TO ASCERTAIN WHETHER OR NOT CAPITOL ONE HAS A CONTRACT WITH THIS GROUP TO NEGOTIATE REDUCTION OF INTEREST RATES ON EXISITNG CREDIT ACCOUNTS.  I WAS INFORMED THAT CAPITOL ONE DOES NOT HAVE A CONTRACT WITH ANY OUTSIDE COMPANY AND THAT IT WAS GOOD THAT I HAD NOT PROVIDED PROTECTED INFORMATION TO THE REPRESENTATIVE.  CAPITOL ONE CONTINUES ITS POSITION THAT I AM NOT SUBJECT TO REVIEW FOR REDUCTION OF MY INTEREST RATE AT THIS TIME, BUT TO CHECK AGAIN IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS.

REMEMBER THE OLD ADAGE "IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT USUALLY IS," WELL, TRUTH IS TRUTH BUT NOT AS FAR AS "MYCONSUMERLAWGROUP.COM" IS CONCERNED.
REMEMBER TO AVOID IDENTITY THEFT AND FRAUD YOU MUST PROTECT YOUR OWN INFORMATION.  CHECK ON THE VALIDITY OF ALL RESPRESENTATIONS MADE TO YOU IN THESE TROUBLED ECONOMIC TIMES.  YOUR SISTER-IN-CHRIST, BEV HARPER

the recording actually only verifies the information,.
the representatives give full understanding to you of what you are doing.
they ARE legitamitely helping you. they have fees as does every company. you guys are just mad that you got yourself into debt in the first place.
the verbal agreement allows them to take the money out on the AGREED dates and AGREED amounts that you will be spending. they tell you way before you decide to commit that the fee is earned. doesn't anybody listen anymore?

you people are complaining because U got into debt and U called in looking for information. next time just be responsible

myconsumerlawgroup does have pre-negotiated interest rates. OBVIOUSLY IF YOU CALL YOUR CREDITOR DIRECTLY THEY ARE GOING TO TELL YOU THAT THEY DONT HAVE ANY AGREEMANTS WITH ANY OTHER COMPANIES. THEY ARE IN THE BUSINESS OF MAKING MONEY. THEY DONT WANT YOUR INTEREST RATES LOWERED. THEY WANT TO SCREW YOU OUT OF EVERY PENNY THAT THEY CAN GET. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE SOME BUSINESSES OUT THERE THAT JUST TRY TO GET YOUR MONEY.BUT DO YOUR ACTUAL RESEARCH BEFORE YOU START TO BAD MOUTH. IF YOU CALL UP..LETS USE BEV HARPERS EXAMPLE- CAPITAL ONE, AND CLAIM THAT A DIFFERENT COMPANY IS OFFERING A LOWER INTEREST RATE, THE PERSON YOU TALKED TO IS PROBABLY SOME REP NEVER TRAINED TO EXPLAIN THAT THERE ARE PROGRAMS OUT THERE. THEY ARE THERE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY. ITS A CREDIT CARD-THEY WOULDN'T HAVE FINANCE CHARGES AND APRS IN THE FIRST PLACE IF THEY WANTED TO HELP YOU.

    Sean
I have been a member of the Consumer Law Group for about a year now without any problems.  The representative that I spoke with was very informed and let me know what I should expect from doing a settlement.  Instead of believing the creditors who where out to hurt me I listened to my representative who explained how everything worked.  I think some people just don't understand or listen to how the program works and get frustrated when they don't see immediate results.  These things take time and I have been with them for a while now and have not experienced any problems as the ones described here so I am assuming most of these people quit their programs before they were completed and now they want to blame someone else or want bash them to get their money back.  I at times became frustrated but not with the ones trying to help me only the creditors who are trying to do me harm.  It bothers me that some people are writing bad things about a company that is and has been helping me.  Maybe you some of you should use patience and understanding I have 2 years left on my program so I understand it will not be completed in 6 months or a year I have 2 years left and plan on completing it so I can rebuild my credit.  I hope some you can also reach financial freedom.

I completely agree with you Sean. People just want to blame everyone else for their problems. Excpecting immediate results with anything is bound to bring you bad luck. Everything takes time and adjusting. If you owe debts, and people are trying to help you, they are needing to follow rules and take time to get things situated. EVERYTHING TAKES TIME. but once you watch the time pass and your debt get smaller it is pure bliss.
