    Dear Lawrence Deas,

Yes, my name is Tondra Gore, from Columbus, Mississippi and I read where you made a complaint toward TRS Recovery.  I too have been getting calls all day from this company. Yes I do owe my bank 900.00 for an overdrawn checking account, but I  have resolved this with them and a customer service representative from my bank, and I am paying them a little at a time till I pay them off.  It shows up on my caller ID as "UNKNOWN CALLER" and computer voice message comes up after you answer the phone and you cannot understand what the lady is saying.

I have received letters from TRS Recovery Services. The information matched the fraudulent transactions on our bank account.

The following website post, written by a columnist for the Fort Worth (TX) Star-Telegram, explains that RS Recovery Services is legitimate, and is affiliated with Telecheck. You can verify this by looking up "TRS Recovery" on the BBB website. The article also contains good steps for those of us who have been victims of identity theft to take.

Mr Lawrence Deas, I live in Moss Point,MS and have been recieveing these calls off and on for several years, They are calling for a Scarlett Powell. I do not know this person nor do I want to, I cannot make them understand this. It is  very harrassing and I am getting fed up with this matter. I havent recieved too many robocalls, mine are usually a real person, so you would think they would be smart enough to understand that they are really getting on my nerves and that I dont want them to call again.

They wanted your driver's license because they can put a "block" on it (what ever that means.)

I received a notice from TRS that they were collecting a debt on a check I wrote to Walgreens. The notice also carried a photo of the front of that check. The check had been accepted through Walgreen's electric transfer equipment.  I called my bank and they did a thorough investigation and found the check had been sent to them twice with an error in my account number (a 6 in my account number had been changed to a 0 somewhere along Walgreen's processing entities.) Of course, my bank said there was no such account number.

Next, I contacted TRS and a rude rep. told me they were not at fault. When I asked how to get it all straightened out, the rep. told me to find a lot of money somewhere and carry it around with me because no one will cash any of my checks. So much for the punk's solutions.

TRS has put my name into a data bank which goes to all businesses. Three days before I received the TRS notice, my check was rejected at a Target store. I have contacted Walgreens locally and their district offices and they have given me (dead end) telephone numbers.  I did find the telephone number for Walgreens corporate offices and the rep there took everything down related to my problem and said someone will get back with me in a few days. Whether that attempt was another dead end, I shall see.

Scratching my head and asking how a collection agency can shut you down through no fault of your own?  I wrote a perfectly good check and because of someone elses error, I have spent 4 days working on it.

In the meantime, TRS has a lock on any check I write or opening another checking account.

I keep getting calls from TRS for an employee who no longer works here.  I have attempted to talk to them to let them know he is no longer here and I have no idea what their business is with them but I get nowhere.  They keep asking me for a routing number.  The person to whom I spoke barely spoke English.

I had a check returned over 2 months ago and TRS said they did not receive the check. Later they did receive it and sent it back through to my bank for payment.  The check cleared, however, TRS called me and informed me that I still owe the 50.00 charge/fee to them.  I did not have a problem with that, but I did request they send me a letter stating such.  The had the check and my address was on the check, however, I never received any mail from them.  Today, when checking my bank account, I noticed TRS collected 50.00 from my checking account and the check was 8888.  I am presently waiting a reply from my bank as to why they authorized this payment without my knowledge.  As for TRS, I am willing to hire a lawyer to look into this matter.  Once before they told me they sent a letter to my address in another city.  Maybe this is why I never received any type of notice in ref to the 50.00 they just took out of my bank account.  The BBB is my next stop on this matter.

We complained to both the attorneys general in Washington State and Texas about TRS contacting, initially by e-mail. We never authorised Amazon to give them our e-mail address or telephone number. Also, the e-mail gave the wrong hours of operation to call them. At first, we were told the debt was under $1, then after I called Amazon, it was said to be for $10.99 for an incomplete order. The bank data was accepted, and the account was frozen, then reopened, then frozen again. This cowardly bullying by both companies is not going to get us to give them anymore bank information. Someone used our account information to pay a $180 gas bill in CA, so the bank said not to give anyone this information to keep on file. Amazon has yet to address the order issue nor this. What credible business blocks an account for such a small amount and fails to resolve the order? The college dropout in "executive customer relations" that interacted with the WA AG kept chiming the same insistence that we contact TRS and pay them, never addressing our concerns. (Wait until Amazon cans him when he becomes useless.) They were at least ordered to not call us again. Either way, no money will be paid until the order is completed. Amazon lies about being "the most consumer-friendly company on earth". Jeff Bezos, the CEO, sealed that after the Kindle debacle by saying, "We dote on customers." Really?! That both companies employ many in WA and TX is no excuse for their unethical practices. Also, TRS is a subsidiary of a Colorado corporation. We will pursue the matter, if for no other reasons that to make officials everywhere aware of their common cowardice and dishonesty. Even the states they operate in will keep the complaints on file. A class-action suit against them is what is needed to bring Amazon to reality. Some wench also got angry from TRS when I announced that thjere was no driver's license information to give since we do not drive. What fools do they think consumers are to give them such information? Never leave your bank information online, because some unluckier consumers got rebilled over and over, yet Amazon has never refunded their monies. Just Google "Amazon complaints", and there is a wellspring of reports, including ones from Seattle about how these crooks really operate. We would have paid online if the account had not been frozen. Afterwards, we decided to send a money order, only if the order was completed, since they will not take responsibility for their accounting errors. Why and how was the order processed without the bank approving it. We are longtime customers, and we never got a bank charge for any NSF savings/check transaction with Amazon. I am in my 50's, have two master's degrees, and Ivy Leaguers in my extended family for generations, so Jeff Bezos is just another educated entrepreneur to me. He and his staff should respect and regard others' families and funds just as they do their own. Any company can fail. Also, report them to the Federal Trade Commission. (Did any of you read about how they are in cahoots with Targety to undersell the Sarah Palin book? Both companmies have custoner service offices in WVa - some non-coincidence!) Thank you. P.S. An e-mail attachment we could not open sent to the WA AG in their final reply to us caused a virus on our computer. "The saga continues!"

Another Amazon Victim on Whidbey Isle
I had a similar experience with Amazon.  They claim a problem "processing the transaction with (my) financial institution and they referred it to TRS.  My bank statement shows the transaction went thru on the first presentation and they have been paid.  I sent Amazon a document from my bank, on letterhead, and Amazon referred me to TRS.  I won't give TRS any information and if I do hear from them, I'll ask for a debt validation letter then a cease and desist order.  Amazon's been paid but claims otherwise.

    * * * DO NOT PAY TRS ANY MONEY OR GIVE THEM INFORMATION!!! * * * I made a large purchase on Amazon using e-debit from savings. Amazon billed several small payments as individual items shipped, and my bank only allows 6 monthly online payments per month so a few payments did not go through. I got a letter from my bank to notify me of those transactions so I went to log into Amazon but my account was locked. So I waited for Amazon to contact me, but they never did... TRS certainly did. Calling all hours, multiple times an hour, every single day of the week. If I answered, I got a rude person immediately insisting "Visa or Mastercard?" I emailed Amazon, and tried explaining this to TRS but they said Amazon could not help me. Then they told me how much they wanted... more than $100 was added on to the amount actually due! I told them no way and hung up. Then they somehow got my boyfriend's phone number and started asking him for a credit card. RIDICULOUS. I called Amazon and got through to an Accounts Specialist to take my payment... no fees added! DO NOT PAY TRS RECOVERY. They add fees and pad the amount due, and their tactics are illegal. HERE'S WHAT TO DO: If you know a payment did not go through that you made to Amazon, call them as soon as possible directly at 1-866-216-1072. They will ask you your account email and can see whether or not your payment went through. Tell them you want to pay but are unwilling to use TRS Recovery because they have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. Ask that they refer you to an Amazon Account Specialist to whom you can provide a new payment method. Also mention to the Account Specialist your disgust with TRS Recovery. This is what I did and it worked for me, no added fees and no TRS hassel! Though beware, TRS may still call you... ignore them and report them to your local Better Business Bureau through www.bbb.org.

I've ordered several dinosaur books from Amazon using my checking account lately and found that they never took out my payments the very instant I placed the order for all the books I made. They were supposed to, but they didn't and I paid them the exact amount I need to pay those books. Well, many days later I started to be informed that my checking account have been bouncing left and right without the bank ever informed me about it! It was maddening to the point where I had to get my mom to help pay it all off and get me out of the hole I was in. I thought my problems was all over with until the transaction occurred again and again! I just had to get the bank to close my checking account so I won't have to experience such bounced checks again. Now I got 3 emails from Amazon saying that the TRS recovery service wasn't able to process a transaction relating to my recent orders from Amazon. That's because I deleted my account so I won't have to go through what I went through again. I've just emailed Amazon about the email I received from them and as of right now, I'm waiting for a response from them. The letters say that they're going to put my Amazon account on hold until it's all resolved. Well I've looked into my Amazon account and found that my account is still open. Apparently they're not telling the truth or something because I've looked into my recent orders and found nothing wrong with them.

Update: Just got a response from Amazon and they told me that the bank transaction was unsuccessful after the order was processed and the items have been shipped! They gave me reasons for the cause of the problem, unaware of the fact that I had sufficient funds in my account and I entered my account number correctly. They tell me to contact Telecheck and TRS because they have the knowledge to help fix up the problem I have. I'm not going to. Especially after I found out from those who experience this nightmare that if they find out that I don't have a checking account anymore, they'll ask me for information including my SSN that's really none of their business to know. So it's a good thing I choose to order from Amazon with just gift cards. Otherwise there is Ebay, Barnes and noble, and Paypal.

To update my previous post... I reiterate, DO NOT DEAL WITH TRS RECOVERY SERVICES. For those of you having a problem with Amazon.com, email ecr@amazon.com and put it to the attention of Peg Anderson, Executive Customer Relations. You can also reach her by fax at 1-304-781-4960. She can help you if you had a payment problem (either bounced check, insufficient funds, or other) and you won't have to go through TRS Recovery Services. Be sure to tell her that you as a customer will not use TRS Recovery Services because they are rude to Amazon's customers, they add outrageous fees and lie about actual amounts due (NOT in the customer's favor either!), and have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. Suggest to her that Amazon.com drops the service, who knows maybe they'll get the message if enough of us complain to her. If Amazon.com wants to continue to boast superior customer service, then they better get rid of the F-rated TRS Recovery Services pronto!

TRS called me (with an unavailable number) for the first time tonight regarding an amazon purchase that I KNOW has been paid for in FULL with an AMAZON gift card. They were asking for my credit card number, which I refused to give them because I have a confirmation email from amazon that this was paid for and I received the product in december. I am not sending them a cent.

I have been receiving phone calls from TRS every day for about a month now... They call as early as 7:30 in the morning... often I pick up and there is silence followed by a 'click' and static. They hang up. But, when someone is actually there- I'm told that it is TRS and that I owe Amazon.com money for a order that I never made.
The most recent time they called I stayed on long enough to hear every detail of their complaint- I said I would contact Amazon- and they said they would call again in three days... is there a way I can block them from calling before that time?
There are too many falsehoods for this to be a discrepancy... I am positive this is fraudulence.

I am having the same problem with TRS as many others are re: Amazon and yes I was told by customer service at Amazon that they do use them. It makes me question Amazon judgement in who they do business with.
