caller fails to identify the company before asking for credit card information on an extended warranty.  I went through five levels of "approval" before reaching the closer -- but he failed.  When asked to be removed from the call list, the caller (representing Consumer Direct Warranty Services) refused to acknowledge my removal request and proceed to verbally abused me -- finally, he hung up on me.  Fortunately, I have an email from the rude individual, and have access to their network.  I've filed a complaint on the company via the do-not-call list.

Contact the office of the Missouri Attorney General.  He recently sued a bunch of these "auto warranty" scams which were located in the state of Missouri.

If this one is located in some other state, his office probably knows where.

That sounds like a broker issue, and not anything that has to do with Consumer Direct Warranty Services.  The way this company (broker) does business is not the best way obviously, but what can you do.  The Attorney General will not care, you didn't buy a plan.  The Do Not Call List will not matter unless you can prove that they called you after you asked them not to.  CDWS is out of Redding, CA.  You can google them at Consumerdirectwarranty.com, and call them to explain the problem you had, but be sure to tell them which broker called you.  He is not directly representing them, he is selling their plans (like an Insurance broker).  Obviously this guy did not care about the plan, but only about money.  Once he couldn't get that, he got pissed.  Unfortunately, in this business most people will fall for this way of sales, and only a few customers are smart like this particular person.  Call CDWS, and let them know.  Chances are their decision will depend on how much money that particular broker makes them every month.  Nobody in their right mind will bite the hand that feeds them.  Especially when the reason for this is a person who never bought a plan.  Unless you buy, they usually do not care.  As far as the Do Not Call List, trust me, it's a waste of your time.  Nobody cares unless they called you more than three times and you can prove it.  Also, your name has to be on the Do Not call list, not the company.  Again I just want to stress this, if you are going to call the Attorney General, please make sure that you complain about the broker.  CDWS never spoke to you, they never had you a customer.  The reason I say this is because they will not help you unless you bought their plan.  As far as how I know all this, I have been in the business for years, and have sold CDWS previously.  They are a good company, but sometimes the broker uses their name, and because the broker is rude, CDWS sounds like a bad company.  Which is not true.

    Consumer Direct Warranty Service  SCAM
This whole company is a SCAM.  I just got off the phone with them and they lied about everything they said.  They said they were calling me because my warranty was expiring (but they didn't know what kind of car I had).

I made up information and they said yes, they found that information, it was all lies.  They told me they were affiliated with the 7 largest dealerships, when asked who, they hung up on me, the first time, I didn't ask the 2nd time they called.

They I told them it was too expensive and they told me they were giving me a Ford Loyalty Discount, a Military discount, a school discount a total of $425 off my warranty, still $2500.

They made a special exception for me, although my (made up) car was out of warranty.  But they were going to cover it for any repair for 100,000 miles.  I told them I wanted to see the coverage in writing, they couldn't because they write each policy up individually, "you know every car has different options"  Total BS  Don't get scammed this company is doing business under many different names!!!

RUDE SCAMMERS - SCAVENGERS - LIARS -SCUM
EVERYTHING the comment above says is ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!!

***ALSO- I asked point blank, if they were affiliated or a subsidiary company of Consumer Direct Warranty Services AND WAS TOLD NO.
    (A flat-out LIE!)

BEWARE this "Broker"/CDWS affiliate goes by a number of names & uses a few different telephone #'s (that aren't actually registered to the company that is calling-I forget the term for it, but they basically use a false number for caller ID purposes).

I got tired of the calls to my cell & home # (both of which have been registered on the Fed. Do-Not-Call list for over 6 months), so I pressed 1 and talked to 5 or 6 different people in my attempt to gather a Company name, address, contact number, website, etc.

I told them I had been victim of ID theft recently and was wary of giving my CC# to a company that wouldn't provide me that basic info in return. I was told I would be provided the company info by a warranty underwriter once I answered a "few basic questions"... Bullsh*t.

I gave fake name, fake contact number-they didn't even know the number they'd called me on (because these companies use robotic dialers), lied that I owned a Saturn & made up the model.

Oh how surprising... they found the record of a car I don't even own, much less a model that doesn't even exist!! lol idiots

Next to "ensure the best interests of the company" & verify the current condition of the vehicle, they asked me the following ridiculous questions:

    1. Mileage (told them 142,000)
    2. Any dashboard warning lights currently lighting up? (said no)
    3. Any modifications to vehicle? (said only new stereo, all else factory original)
    4. Did I buy car New or Used? (said New-off showroom floor)
    5. Has car been serviced regularly? (said Yes)

At this point, the warranty rep told me that since I had taken such GOOD care of my car & it was obviously in excellent condition...(huh? how could they possibly know this from just a phone call???)
They would provide me warranty coverage, even though the car was over the 75,000 warranty mileage limit...  OOOOoooooo oooohhhhhh  WooooooW.

What a load of crap.  And they still were being evasive about providing their company info...

I told the rep that before I gave him my CC# or paid for this service, I would have to see the policy & coverage in writing. I was told that they don't use US postal mail (hmmm, because then they could be prosecuted for MAIL FRAUD, maybe???) but he was able to email me my policy document...

What I received was a .pdf generic info-sheet.

**Interestingly enough, the attached document's name was: CDWS_DC_Infosheet_6-08_66413253.pdf

**hmmm, I thought they said they were not affiliated with CDWS...yet here it is right on the document they emailed me...LIARS weren't even smart enough to change the document name before sending it...

What I was able to learn (or what I was told, at least):

    Caller ID Disp:    (304)369-0968
                      (208)656-4565

    Company name(s):   Warranty Help Desk
                      Warranty Services
                      Pacific Guard Warranty
                      Consumer Direct Warranty Services

    Website:           www.myprogresivewarranty.com
                      www.Pacificguardwarranty.com

    Email Address:     vsc@moxyws.com

Address:           25 Crescent Dr, Suite 100
                      Pleasant Hill, CA 94523

    I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH-
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.
DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO THEM.
DO NOT LET THEM RIP YOU OFF.

I cannot believe the FCC hasn't stepped in to investigate their business practices.

    -----------

    oh, and as a side-note:
It must be a fun company to work for, because there was a helluva party going on in the background for the entire 21 mins that I was on this call.
For a company that's trying to get my CC# & sell me something that they are trying to Misrepresent as "legitimate", they have the most unprofessional call center/telemarketing reps I've ever seen!
**hey, I've worked in Call-Centers... I worked at SunTrips/SunQuest/SunTours -- So I KNOW Unprofessional, and this company is the WORST!!!

    Didn't fall for their BS
Yep, total liars. They called me out of the blue today on my cell phone. I kind of knew they were scammers right away because it was obvious that they had very limited info and were fishing me for info during the conversation.

I asked them point blank if they were part of GM because they seemed to indicate that they were just extending my current warranty. The salesman said "Yes, absolutely, we are an affiliate of Chevrolet". Then his supervisor got on the phone and announced himself as an employee of "Chevy Warranty Services, an affiliate of Chevrolet". I told him that I would never buy a warranty with out seeing the written policy first. I gave him my spammers e-mail address, not my main one, and he e-mailed me some info on the warranty - provided by "Consumer Direct Warranty Services". I goggled the company and found out that they are not an affiliate of GM.

I received another call from the "manager". I got his name and the name of the company "Allied Warranty". I told him what had occurred and he denied that his employee would have said that. I told him that it would be a cold day in hell when I would ever do business with a company whose employees lie to the customers and that it is obvious from the web complaints that their company has created an atmosphere that supports deception. I then asked him to remove me from their call list. He was very nice and said "yes sir, we will remove you from the list".

If I get another call or e-mail, then I will post his name, their e-mail address and phone number - we will see.

    THE TRUTH
Actually, c.d.w.s are a truly nationwide business, backed by an a-rated publicly traded insurance company (Essex insurance, that have been in business for over 30 years.)  Unfortunately, thet do have wholesale sales company telemarketing there warranties.  They do have some shady salespeople that misrepresent a decent product as an amazing product.  The truth is I purchased a warranty from a company called General Warranty Services out of New Hampshire.  The sales people where polite, seemingly professional, I filed three claims in 2 years, 2 where denied (minor electronics), but the third was a major transmission repair that totalled 2700 dollars, c.d.w.s. paid one hundred percent, reimbursed me for the tow and a three day rental.

    Lalo's tile work/Librado Chavez
I have bought repair warranty coverage from (CONSUMER DIRECT WARRANTY SERVICES) on January 7,2008 I asked rep. Mr. Angel Moralez if he was employed by the Ford Motor co. and he said "yes" He lyed. that took place around 8,pm. I should known better, dealer's employees don't work late hours; soon after I asked my dauhter about the validity of this, she recommened to try to put a stop payment as soon as the bank opened the following day. too late! CDWS had already cashed in. I called the company today to cancel and I was told that it would take 4 to 6 weeks to get a cancellation letter send it back and get my refund. I pray that this is true despite that is going to take about 3 months if it ever goes thru I feel like a sore loser unemployed and broke.

    Flamejob
Is this getting boring yet?  DON'T LET IT!!  If you have been unlucky enough (or maybe dumb in my case!) to have purchased one of Consumer Direct Warranty Service's "products" for older or high-mileage cars, then you unfortunately probably know the hard truth already.  THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE IN JAIL!  Their so-called "warranties" are very hard-sold by a variety of "front" companies (Vehicle Services Inc. in my case), and sold under who knows how many different names.  The "sell" is so hard, usually very sincere sounding, and is made to sound so good to those of us struggling to get by in these tough economic times with our older cars, that it's not hard to say yes to an offer to keep your car under warranty.  Think about this also: regardless of the fact that we should always read the fine print, how many of us actually do, before it's too late?  This is particularly true if we feel that we got all of our questions answered during the sale.  THESE JERKS WILL LIE THROUGH THEIR TEETH WITH A SMILE!!!
The bottom line: C.D.W.S. is counting on you NOT reading the fine print!!!  If you do, you might see that any parts that fail due to wear-and-tear are NOT covered.  Now, does anyone here disagree with the fact that 90% of what may fail on any older car would be due to wear-and-tear!?  Are you getting the picture?  C.D.W.S. is more than happy to sell you a high-priced extended warranty ("140,000 miles on it? Well, as long as you've been taking good care of her, no problem!").  But when you have what should be a completely legit claim, they are almost CERTAIN to tell you that it was caused by simple wear-and-tear, and that your claim is denied!  Never mind the fact that you are already into your mechanic for a lot of money for his diagnosis, the bill is now in your hands.  If they can't claim that it is from wear-and-tear, they will likely say that you somehow abused your car, or spent time in freezing weather (also NOT covered), or you have bad breath, or ANYTHING ELSE THAT THEY CAN AND WILL COME UP WITH TO DENY YOUR CLAIM!!!
Need an extended car warranty?  Perform very indepth research on any company you're considering.  I'm talkin' corporate colonoscopy here!  If you detect anything that even remotely refers to C.D.W.S., avoid them like the plague, including whoever is marketing them.  And there are a LOT of companies ("fronts"?) marketing them under God-only-knows how many different names. (Great Choice, Direct Choice, etc., etc., etc....)
Ask them if they will give you something in writing that clearly states that their products are in no way connected with C.D.W.S.  Good luck.

    dont do it
I just spoke to my dealer and they won't even take it.  It is a scam!!!  They don't pay their dealers or repair shops.  All the repairs get rejected.  IT IS BS!!  Don't do it.

After 25 years writing Service and dealing with (generally) Aftermarket Extended Waranties that were on the up and up I was completely dismayed with this company. I am sure that by the time you are actually checking up on them they have already gotten at least some money from you, but perhaps this will help. They appear to simply be in the business to deny claims. I have had to deal with 2 seperate vehicles under their policy in the last several months and although both had fairly common and legitimate concerns that any other warranty would have covered these claims were denied without any investigation. Run away.

Thank you for everyone posting on this site! I just made my husband get off the phone with a CDWS rep.  We have a "Mommy - Minivan" with over 100,000 miles on it.  My husband got a call on his cell and thought this may be a good deal.  I insisted on getting more information on-line.  I've been in telemarketing too and when my husband said the "manager" was getting on the line and that I should talk to him - I immediately said, "Hang-up! They are putting a closer on the line! And you will not give out our CC#!"  If this deal is legit than we can do some research and not be pressured to buy the warranty today. This great deal was only good for today - BS!  If it sounds too good to be true - it usually is!  Today - my "sucker" husband listened to me.  And with all the postings - I know I made the right decision. "Thank you!" =)
