50+ phone calls offering to extend my vehicle warranty
Complaint

Country: United States
caller fails to identify the company before asking for credit card information on an extended warranty. I went through five levels of "approval" before reaching the closer -- but he failed. When asked to be removed from the call list, the caller (representing Consumer Direct Warranty Services) refused to acknowledge my removal request and proceed to verbally abused me -- finally, he hung up on me. Fortunately, I have an email from the rude individual, and have access to their network. I've filed a complaint on the company via the do-not-call list.

If this one is located in some other state, his office probably knows where.
I made up information and they said yes, they found that information, it was all lies. They told me they were affiliated with the 7 largest dealerships, when asked who, they hung up on me, the first time, I didn't ask the 2nd time they called.
They I told them it was too expensive and they told me they were giving me a Ford Loyalty Discount, a Military discount, a school discount a total of $425 off my warranty, still $2500.
They made a special exception for me, although my (made up) car was out of warranty. But they were going to cover it for any repair for 100,000 miles. I told them I wanted to see the coverage in writing, they couldn't because they write each policy up individually, "you know every car has different options" Total BS Don't get scammed this company is doing business under many different names!!!
***ALSO- I asked point blank, if they were affiliated or a subsidiary company of Consumer Direct Warranty Services AND WAS TOLD NO.
(A flat-out LIE!)
BEWARE this "Broker"/CDWS affiliate goes by a number of names & uses a few different telephone #'s (that aren't actually registered to the company that is calling-I forget the term for it, but they basically use a false number for caller ID purposes).
I got tired of the calls to my cell & home # (both of which have been registered on the Fed. Do-Not-Call list for over 6 months), so I pressed 1 and talked to 5 or 6 different people in my attempt to gather a Company name, address, contact number, website, etc.
I told them I had been victim of ID theft recently and was wary of giving my CC# to a company that wouldn't provide me that basic info in return. I was told I would be provided the company info by a warranty underwriter once I answered a "few basic questions"... Bullsh*t.
I gave fake name, fake contact number-they didn't even know the number they'd called me on (because these companies use robotic dialers), lied that I owned a Saturn & made up the model.
Oh how surprising... they found the record of a car I don't even own, much less a model that doesn't even exist!! lol idiots
Next to "ensure the best interests of the company" & verify the current condition of the vehicle, they asked me the following ridiculous questions:
1. Mileage (told them 142,000)
2. Any dashboard warning lights currently lighting up? (said no)
3. Any modifications to vehicle? (said only new stereo, all else factory original)
4. Did I buy car New or Used? (said New-off showroom floor)
5. Has car been serviced regularly? (said Yes)
At this point, the warranty rep told me that since I had taken such GOOD care of my car & it was obviously in excellent condition...(huh? how could they possibly know this from just a phone call???)
They would provide me warranty coverage, even though the car was over the 75,000 warranty mileage limit... OOOOoooooo oooohhhhhh WooooooW.
What a load of crap. And they still were being evasive about providing their company info...
I told the rep that before I gave him my CC# or paid for this service, I would have to see the policy & coverage in writing. I was told that they don't use US postal mail (hmmm, because then they could be prosecuted for MAIL FRAUD, maybe???) but he was able to email me my policy document...
What I received was a .pdf generic info-sheet.
**Interestingly enough, the attached document's name was: CDWS_DC_Infosheet_6-08_66413253.pdf
**hmmm, I thought they said they were not affiliated with CDWS...yet here it is right on the document they emailed me...LIARS weren't even smart enough to change the document name before sending it...
What I was able to learn (or what I was told, at least):

oh, and as a side-note:
It must be a fun company to work for, because there was a helluva party going on in the background for the entire 21 mins that I was on this call.
For a company that's trying to get my CC# & sell me something that they are trying to Misrepresent as "legitimate", they have the most unprofessional call center/telemarketing reps I've ever seen!
**hey, I've worked in Call-Centers... I worked at SunTrips/SunQuest/SunTours -- So I KNOW Unprofessional, and this company is the WORST!!!
I asked them point blank if they were part of GM because they seemed to indicate that they were just extending my current warranty. The salesman said "Yes, absolutely, we are an affiliate of Chevrolet". Then his supervisor got on the phone and announced himself as an employee of "Chevy Warranty Services, an affiliate of Chevrolet". I told him that I would never buy a warranty with out seeing the written policy first. I gave him my spammers e-mail address, not my main one, and he e-mailed me some info on the warranty - provided by "Consumer Direct Warranty Services". I goggled the company and found out that they are not an affiliate of GM.
I received another call from the "manager". I got his name and the name of the company "Allied Warranty". I told him what had occurred and he denied that his employee would have said that. I told him that it would be a cold day in hell when I would ever do business with a company whose employees lie to the customers and that it is obvious from the web complaints that their company has created an atmosphere that supports deception. I then asked him to remove me from their call list. He was very nice and said "yes sir, we will remove you from the list".
If I get another call or e-mail, then I will post his name, their e-mail address and phone number - we will see.
The bottom line: C.D.W.S. is counting on you NOT reading the fine print!!! If you do, you might see that any parts that fail due to wear-and-tear are NOT covered. Now, does anyone here disagree with the fact that 90% of what may fail on any older car would be due to wear-and-tear!? Are you getting the picture? C.D.W.S. is more than happy to sell you a high-priced extended warranty ("140,000 miles on it? Well, as long as you've been taking good care of her, no problem!"). But when you have what should be a completely legit claim, they are almost CERTAIN to tell you that it was caused by simple wear-and-tear, and that your claim is denied! Never mind the fact that you are already into your mechanic for a lot of money for his diagnosis, the bill is now in your hands. If they can't claim that it is from wear-and-tear, they will likely say that you somehow abused your car, or spent time in freezing weather (also NOT covered), or you have bad breath, or ANYTHING ELSE THAT THEY CAN AND WILL COME UP WITH TO DENY YOUR CLAIM!!!
Need an extended car warranty? Perform very indepth research on any company you're considering. I'm talkin' corporate colonoscopy here! If you detect anything that even remotely refers to C.D.W.S., avoid them like the plague, including whoever is marketing them. And there are a LOT of companies ("fronts"?) marketing them under God-only-knows how many different names. (Great Choice, Direct Choice, etc., etc., etc....)
Ask them if they will give you something in writing that clearly states that their products are in no way connected with C.D.W.S. Good luck.
