I received a call by a man calling himself Jack Zachwalker. He said if I had a valid credit card w/ at least a dollar on it he could guarantee me a $200 gas card.  I would have to pay a fee of $3.90 to get the gas card. He called repeatedly.  Now the calls have stopped.

If scammers with hiccups were calling, people would be reporting hiccups.

As it is, Indian scammers have now surpassed Nigerian scammers.

The Wilmington DE Police Department confirmed similar information in a warning on their website.

Why would you expect that a scammer would send you vouchers that would actually be worth something?

You ARE the "good customer" they are looking for.

    Bunch of liars.

I haven't tried meth, either.  Some people claim that's great stuff, too.  They don't have teeth anymore, but they don't seem to care, and after a few months, they are no longer around to look at.

Numerous complaints report you are liars, claiming to be calling from various parts of the U.S., when you are really calling from overseas.  Many complaints report that after providing card numbers, they got charged for much more than the $2 you claimed they would be charged.  And there are reports your "gas vouchers" are effectively worthless, which should surprise no one.

The above "glowing" post fits the same pattern as many shill posts, going down a list of "talking points" in an attempt to deceptively sway public perception.

Are you enjoying talking to yourself?

i was on the phone with a guy promising me a $200 gas card and a $20 gift card. he said they got my shipping address and phone number from wal mart. he kept saying that i could trust them that they arent scamme4rs but that i needed to pay $1 for each card. i looked up the company on the BBB website and nothing came up for them. i googled them and this website was one of the first that popped up... dont trust these people!!!!!

"he said they got my shipping address and phone number from wal mart."
    That was a lie.

"he kept saying that i could trust them that they arent scamme4rs but that i needed to pay $1 for each card."
    That was another lie.

"guy promising me a $200 gas card and a $20 gift card."
You want to bet that's a lie, also?

I got a call today from a man who said his name was paul jasper. He wanted my debit card number and when I said I didn't want to give it to him he became upset and tole me he didn't need any personal information. I told him that my card number was personal information and he became more upset. He said he didn't want my pin number and I told him it didn't matter because he could use my card without the PIN. He just got more upset so I hung up on him. He asked me if I had ever been to Phoenix Arizona which is supposedly where his company is located. When I said no, he said I should visit sometime. Not to be rude, but I wanted to say the same to hin because he didn't sound like he was from here or had ever been here. Definitely not a "Paul".

"he became upset and tole me he didn't need any personal information."

He doesn't need your "personal information".  He just wants your money, and for that all he needs is your card number.

"He said he didn't want my pin number and I told him it didn't matter because he could use my card without the PIN. "

But notice how he was attempting to deceive you into disclosing your card number, assuring you that since you weren't providing your PIN he wasn't taking your money.  Another lie.

He lied about that, too.  He's not in "Phoenix", he's in India.

    One lie implies many lies.

    He just guessed.

It's an easy "con", practically a "force".
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equivocation_(magic)

Scammers say that to sound "authoritative" or credible, like they have some official connection to your bank, and only need you to "confirm" what they already know.  It's a commonly reported fraudulent telemarketing ploy, often combined with some "free offer" or "gift", allegedly "in connection with your bank" or due to your "good credit".

The first 4 digits of all card numbers are based on the bank, and if the first digit is a 4, it's a VISA.  Since VISA International is the largest credit card organization, and BofA is the largest U.S. bank, especially in consumer credit, it's easy to guess 4 and be right most of the time.  There are a number of reports of this group of scammers using this same line to get the consumer's confidence.

Listing "talking points" is the mark of a shill post, not an actual consumer report.

You are a liar and a shill.  You work for them.

    sounded good
Would've been nice if the $200 gas card was real.  Talked to the guy from Oasis today who wouldn't tell me his company name until I was about to hang up.  Told him to call me back after I rethink this through but said I would loose this great offer as I was the 18th lucky winner from 20 and will lose my chance of getting this card.  So I said I'll be generous and will give it up to another winner.  He then changed his story that I alone am entitled to it so will call me back in 30 mins.  hmmmm... got a little scary after he kept asking for my credit card number... so i finally hung up on the heavy accented guy.  His name as Mike Jenson but heard hindi in the background.  sigh...

    sick of scammers
i received 7 calls from 701-217-1591 in a 24 hour period. i finally answered and the heavily accented male first told me he was from "American Benefits" and same as other complaints i was one of 15 people in my state to be selected to get a $200 gas voucher/card b/c of my shopping at wal-mart and having good standing with my payments. he assured me that there was no obligation, nothing to buy and just needed the address to send it to and how the name should read on the card. i did give my address and thats when he proceeded to ask for my credit or debit card # to verify that i am still an active consumer.

at that point i figured it was a scam and asked what the company name was again and this time he told me he was with "Oasis Travel" i asked if thy had a website i could look up for more info and if there was anyway i could independently verify the info and he advised me that i would get all of that info after i gave him my card number.

i told him that i did not feel comfortable giving my info unless i knew who i was giving it to. he then said he would transfer me to his manager who would give me more info.

the "manager" he transfered me to (coincidentally sounded almost exactly like the first guy) started going through the whole script again.
said he was located in Phoenix, AZ but WOULD NOT give me an actual address. at this point he told me that:
his name was Roger Brown with Oasis travel Phoenix az
    his Rep id #B50717
    my Package # fx002051
but would not give me any additional information.

i then told them i wsnt interested and hung up.
the same person/same # called right back
i asked for the companies TAX ID # to verify the info and he refused (if a company is legite they would never refuse to give you their TAX ID #)

i then told them again i wasnt interested and to not call me anymore and hung up again.

i called my local FBI to see if there is anything i should/can do about this. the woman i spoke to took a basic report of all the above info and said it will be on record but there is nothing they can do unless it becomes a largely reported problem.

if you experience this you should try to get as much information as you possibly can from the person calling and report it to the FBI and/or your local authorities
