They call your telephone number and leave a message telling you, you can make up to $38,000.00 a year just by processing their government mortgage insurance refunds. They charge $69.00+10.00 (S&H) for the start up guide and they let you know if you really do not want to do this kind of work to not press the number one key. They say at this 971-285-3130 number that your money can be returned minus the S&H if you are not satisfied or if you change your mind and do not want to do this kind of work. I believe her name was Nora, I asked if this was a scam and of course she said "NO". BUT IT IS! On 800notes.com there are many complaints about this scam. PLEASE spread the Word about this SCAM!

Wow...This sounded so REAL.  Im thoroughly disgusted!!!   Im appreciative that my husband was leary and that I was curious enough to look for information on them before making a decision.  Like everyone were trying to make some extra cash to get ahead some but cant afford to take 2 steps back to move ahead.  I was told ALL the same things and when asked for their website was told its only for those that have signed up.   The nevre!

If anyone knows how to recover the $79.00 please let the rest of us know. I did have new cards issued at my bank. Sure wish I had walked in the office and looked up the Company Name before I said yes. Would not have done this. Oh well, Live and Learn.
By the way West Work at Home and VeraFast are two reputable work at home
Companies. Be patient getting started and be persistant checking on your application and hiring status. It takes three or four weeks to get hiring process completed.Paper work and all.It is telemarketing. Sort of repetative ,but it is a paycheck. You can get 40 hrs a week w/ West and only 15 hours a week w/ VeraFast. So I combine the two. Wors great for me. Wont make millions but helps with the bills .

I just received a call from this company and thought what a great opportunity.  I decided to look them up on the internet before giving them any money to make sure they were ligit.  Thank god I looked and found this or I would of been out pretty much 80.00 and that would of pissed me off especially because I am expecting my second child any day now.  I did think this was to good to be true and I was right.  Thank you guys for posting this information. Another phone number that they are calling from is      760-526-8182 so be careful.  It sounds like they are tricky

Well, from what I'm seeing here, I guess I got scammed too! I thought this was actualy something I could do from home, and it sounded legit (government affiliated). They already hit my credit card, and haven't seen or heard anything from them since. I've been out of work for about 5 months now and picking up little side jobs and needed something like this to boost my income...but these S.O.B.s appear to be just ripping people off. How do STOP them?

I got the call today and it was so suspicious  that I asked them Why I had to pay anything if I was going to work for them.  They should pay me.  I also asked them if they could discount it from my first pay check and of course they said they couldn't.

My thanks to all of you who have posted a comment.  It has helped me to make a decision that I would have regretted tremendously. Yes, I agree with all of you that it is a shame that people are out there seeking to make money off of the misfortune of others. Worst of all, it causes us to loose faith in our fellowman. How sad! I really fear for my children and grandchildren that we live in a time where for a few dollars, people are choosing to put decency on the backburner and seek their own good fortune.  I'm heartsick.

Thank God I found this! I was getting ready to send them some money but thought I would look into it first because you can never be sure. I actually had hope for them thinking I would be working for the government but it goes to show you that you can't trust ANYONE! It is so sad that people take advantage of others this way.

Wow!!!Thanks everyone for the comments and the heads up.  Today I got a call from Stephanie operator # 105, She gave a little more detailed information.  She asked if I would like to be a, recess processor; receiving, screening, processing FHA forms from home. $69.00 for orientation package + S&H. Having an injured leg and being home I said, "Yes I'm interested, but I need to speak with my husband first." Excited about the whole thing we looked it up and we found this. The # they called from (760)526-8187 the # she told me to call back on was (971)285-3130. And there is a recording soliciting the business.  They have to be stopped,a class action(civil) suit should be filed for those that were ripped off and they should be prosecuted. LET'S GET BUSY...

thanks for all the information, I almost gave them my money too. But I told them I had to think about first she gave me (971) 285-3130. I typed the number in google search and two pages came up saying this number was a scam. and I saw this blog. special thanks to the person that started this.

so i got there call from them using the number 1-760-526-8187 yeah anyone who says they'll give you a job just for you paying them first is obviously gonna scam...and secondly if they were government they'd already have all your info and would do a proper work screening first along with background checks...

    be careful

I dont know if it is a scam or not but I did ask the right ??'s over the phone. I was told that I would have to pay for the list from the government and that I would have to pay costs for materials and such to process the refunds. It sounds to me that in order to make money you have to spend money but thats with any self-employed job. Remember people nothing in life is free!

It appears from everything that I have read regarding GMI enterprises, that they are a legitamate business, they are not and told me they are not the Government.  However, as with any business, homebased or not, you do have to put up some money.  The $69 fee or whatever amount they charged I am told is one of the ways they make money to keep the company running.  They are the intermediary, you would be the independent contractor who would do the leg work, requesting lists that you may or may not have to pay for, and doing the research to locate the people on the list who are entitled to a gov't refund that they most likely know they are entitled to, and if you do find them, you will have to speak to them and complete forms to submit for the refund, which you will make 10% of.  It is work, there is no magic wand.  If you want to stop, you need to return one page of the listings and you will be refunded your original startup fee, less shipping and handling.  Now, whether you make money on this or not is dependent on a lot of factors, such as how much time and effort you put in, how many people entitled to a refund you can find and if they are willing to speak to you, etc.
Do not just give anyone money over a telephone call.  Listen to what they have to say, take notes, names, phone numbers, websites, addresses, emails, etc.  Then tell them you will call them back later or another time after you have researched and thought about the prospect.  If they tell you that you must do it now, pay now or you will lose the opportunity--STOP!  It is a Scam!  Just hang up.  Their loss not yours.  If they say, fine, ok, hope to hear from you again.  Then do your research, which should include checking with the Better Business Bureau and any other organization they may be listed with.  Do your research before you commit and never commit to a scam.  HUD and FHA are familiar with GMI, since they are overwhelmed and do not have the resources themselves to do all the work looking for people who are entitled to a refund.  But beware, it is work.
