They call your telephone number and leave a message telling you, you can make up to $38,000.00 a year just by processing their government mortgage insurance refunds. They charge $69.00+10.00 (S&H) for the start up guide and they let you know if you really do not want to do this kind of work to not press the number one key. They say at this 971-285-3130 number that your money can be returned minus the S&H if you are not satisfied or if you change your mind and do not want to do this kind of work. I believe her name was Nora, I asked if this was a scam and of course she said "NO". BUT IT IS! On 800notes.com there are many complaints about this scam. PLEASE spread the Word about this SCAM!

I want to add that my state's consumer protection agency WILL file complaints for violations of the National Do Not Call legislation.  It's not a favor they do, it's what they do (along with a lot of other things.  I'm in NC, I don't know what the other states have but it's my understanding that all states have a state consumer protection agency.  I went round and round, trying to file my NDC complaint online at the National Do Not Call Registry ("sorry we're experiencing system difficulties, or some such nonsense).  NC takes this very seriously.  Our state recently won damages in a case involving another telemarketer who failed to identify itself in its pre-recorded call.  The gist of the case was that the company side-stepped the NDC by forcing the answerer to press #1 to agree to hear more, before the caller identity could be revealed via the live agent. Following that case, state legislation was passed prohibiting pre-recorded calls that lacked caller identity within the recording. My state's consumer protection is sending me the paper form of filing a complaint against GMI Enterprises for having violated the federal NDC.

I forgot to add... that our state's consumer protection agency considers it "a red flag" when work-at-home offers require an up-front fee (such as GMI Enterprises' $69 fee requirement) and so that validated further investigation of GMI (opening a case on that level of inquiry), and so GMI will be investigated on that basis as well, --to what extent, remains to be seen.  I also submitted a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for GMI's misleading approach to doing business.  The FTC's automated telephone processing has a section for "work-at-home" schemes as a category of complaint.

At this point I've not been given much, except complaint reference numbers, WHICH I WILL PURSUE... and that's the course of action to take... you submit complaints, and if they're not satisfactorily followed through, then the next step is your State Congressman and the congressional oversight committees which govern the slackard agencies. That's the process.  It's important that we follow through, and not be discouraged when the first tier of process falls short.

Frankly I'm sick and tired of being interrupted from the things I'm doing to address what GMI wants to do, and I won't stand for it.  I've asked them once to take me off their list and they've not respected that.  This time they've dialed the wrong number twice.

Nothing gets a thing going like good paperwork backing your complaint process, along with the numbers of advocacies groups that would love to jump on.

Nicole, these are misleading business practices and it's the very thing the FTC is set-up to address.  A complaint to your State Attorney's office might not be a bad idea, the ycan tell you what to do.

The good folks at GMI might seem nice, but you're dealing with call center employees who do nothing but field incoming calls to little effect.  I know because I used to work in a call center.  It's amazing how these centers insist their operators act and speak in ways that suggest that they are actually an employee of the "client" company. I mean they're required to only to sound convincing, no matter the gist of the call.

I hope you document all your correspondence (name of agent, time, date, and a thorough documentation of the conversation).

I could be wrong, but GMI Enterprises appears to be operating out of a home. Visit this message board for some juicy information.

    BE SAFE CHECK EVERYTHING OUT
I received a computer generated call from 909-842-8158.  They claimed they'd been trying to call me regarding an employment opportunity where I could make up $38,943 p/yr working full or part time.  I hit 1 and Glen who said he was operator #1 came on the line.  I began asking questions about their phone number, mailing address, if they're listed with the better business bureau and company name.  Glen told me the phone number  is 971-285-3130 the company name is GMI Enterprises and they're located in Portland Oregon.   He said the $69 was refundable if the business didn't work for me.  But failed to mention shipping and hangling charges.  I googled the telephone number and it brought up all this data.  THANK GOD FOR GOOGLE this search engine has been a lifesaver far too many times to count.

I also agreed to accept their hardware at an initial cost. I have then tried to contact them back to cancel, which I was told I could do.  Now it seems they are unavailable. Checked out their website. Sent them e-mail. Still will not contact me. Simply will put a freeze on my account.  Mr Anonymous.  Beware.  I have a feeling you are affiliated with this scam somehow.  Fraud has a minimum sentence you know.

It seems to me that a crime of scamming had been committed. My advise to all of you who got scammed is contact your State Consumer Agency or Federal Trade Commission and file a complaint. Summarizes in your complaint in a form of self expression all of the information this perpetrator had provided and promised. As well the misinformation regarding compensation that would be made to you, which includes the check that you will allegedly  receive from the U.S. Treasury. It's pretty obvious that U.S. Treasury would not cut or issue you any check because the Mortgage Refund GMI Enterprises claiming is related to housing, and only FHA or U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development deal such Mortgage or pertaining to a housing, first time Borrower or Buyer operation. Since the perpetrator uses a federal agency to bilked you illegally in order to satisfy their own greed, the type action committed constitute a Federal Crime under Title 18 United States Code.. Good luck  to all of you..

I am so sorry for anyone who got scammed by this fraudulent company. I too got scammed by it. With the way things are today some people need to work from home and I think it is a shame that some people take advantage of it. I am now out for $79.00 on my card. I am going to dispute this and try to get mt money back. I wish everyone could get a refund on this scam and i wish you the best of luck.

I asked him the name of his company and googled it along with the word "scam." And tons of related pages popped up. Please always do this before you send anyone money!!!
