Scam Collection Calls
Complaint
MCH
Country: United States
I again received a call from this number/company in my cell phone. They call 1-2x every week. so irritating.
I had long straightened out my credit card debts in 2002. Suddenly, since 2008, I started getting calls from this company. I do not know how they got my cell ph number. I read almost all the complaints ahainst this company and now am convinced they they are scammers.
Should we all band together and file a class action suit? Or, report this company to the authorities in ur respective cities/states?

Pass this information around to any complaints board or consumer website that can get the word out and give them a taste of their own medicine.
Since no govt or law enforcement agency seems to care about these people harassing innocent folks and since any kind of restrictions that may be placed against them, they simply skirt around or ignore completely because there are absolutely no reprocussions that will occur by doing so... lets give them a taste of their own medicine.
If they insist on calling you every day with unwanted or unwarranted phone calls then why not get people to call them every day with bothersome phone calls?
Here is what some people are doing to get back at Portfolio Recovery Associates. Put an ad on Craigslist for free stuff or deals that are too good to be true that would generate thousands of calls.
Here is an example of one ad that I saw on Craigslist in VA:
Free scrap metal, aluminum, copper, shelving (for the title of the ad)
We are closing down our shop and have a yard full of metal, aluminum, copper & shelving that needs to be gone by next week.
Bring a truck or trailer... we can load for you.
1-888-772-7326.
This ad is guaranteed to generate hundreds of phone calls per day.
1-888-772-7326 is PRAs corporate number. They also have two other numbers 757-519-9300 & 866-925-7109.
I understand they receive hundreds of calls a day and as fast as they can get the ads deleted you simply put it up again. This also costs them money since they use toll free numbers where they pay for all calls coming in and you will tie up their lines and employees time answering these calls.
You can also do ads like free furniture or price items WAY below fair market value etc. Do this in any free advertisement or online shopping websites etc... this will be sure to generate thousands of phone calls.
If the authorities won't help out and make these guys play by the rules then at least we can fight back... it won't stop the calls but it will help ease the frustration of these folks harassing us relentlessly.

I was stunned when I read PRA's info on budhibbs. I am going to contact my local state Attorney General's office and go from there. I will definitely not give them any info to prove I don't owe it.
I called back and they wanted a woman I have never heard of. And we've had this telephone number for 18 years. They simply said thank you and we said our good byes. We'll see if they ever call back.
Legally they must stop calling or subject themselves to being sued.
The best way to arm yourself against these bottom feeders is to educate yourself in how to effectively and legally deal with them. There is plenty of information on the internet that offers effective guidance.
If you owe a debt, and it is legally yours, and is not only within the SOL but is collectable, it is best to pay it if it is within your means. If not, there are other solutions with research or consultation.
If it is not your debt, or one that has been writen off, out of SOL, or any other legal cause to not pay it, then belly up to the bar, put on your boxing gloves and don't back down from these low lifes. They feed on peoples lack of knowledge.
