I have repeatedly received phone calls from an Indian Call Center caliming to be representatives of a Law Firm, ACS. I have done some research into this "firm" and have found it to be completely fraudulent. DO NOT give any information to these people and forward any information you have to the FBI...

Please do not intimidated by ACS' scare tactics. Collection agencies and law firms using tactics just like this have recently been sued in Federal Court and have lost. If you are receiving harassing calls from ACS, you are encouraged to contact a consumer attorney. For more information, you may contact Attorney Allison Polesky for a free consultation with no obligation.

They are not actually "debt collectors" or "law firms", and the "debts" are fake.

How do you go after such scammers, located in India, using cheap VoIP, and continually changing their phone numbers?  Any chance of going after their telecom providers, who enable this type of scam, and who have U.S. assets?

Any chance of forcing a settlement similar to those against Western Union, requiring actively attempting to thwart use of their systems by fraudulent operations?

I have been getting harrasing calls from this company and they even called my mother and told her that there was a lawsuit filed against me.  When I asked them for the phone number of thier client because there is an error, they told me they couldnt give me that information.  When I told them it was illegal for them to tell my mother about the lawsuit, they told me that my mother should know about it.  What can I do?

I just got a call from them and they also said I had a law suit out against me and my social security number.  I refused to give him any information and tried to get information from about who filed this law suit.  I could not get any info from him.  He tried to be condesending to me but I flatly refused to talk to him unless he could give me specific information.  He told me to all Attorney Dexter Cruz at 323-362-6015 which is the same number he called me from.  I know that THERE IS NO LAWSUIT OUT AGAINST ME.  So I know this is fraud.

The guy who called me had all my information, yes I do owe a payday company. When I asked the guy if there was someone there who speaks better english he got enraged. He told me to have a lot of money to get myself out of this mess. I am a little freaked out since I actually do owe the company he said. When I asked him his name he told me it was David Parker, I told him yeah right he dosen't sound like a David Parker. He started yelling at me and told me to go to hell. I called back and he said police will be at my work on monday to take me and my boss to court. When I asked him how he could take my refreces to court as well, he said because they failed to due their duty in making me pay my debt. The guy call from 310-999-0442. The number is not working already.

Just so you know this is a total scam.  don't let these people intimidate you.  I contacted the local FBI for the phone number they were calling me from.  Now they are trying to send me bogus e-mails and when I asked the guy for a copy of the documents he never replied back.  I told him that I have contacts at the FBI and that if I would be glad to forward a copy of his lovely little e-mail.  1 - If you truly were being sued for a payday loan they would not bother calling you and forewarning you that you would be taken to court. 2 - They also would not be asking for payment in a few days time. 3 - They certainly wouldn't be sending e-mails and finally you can research them anywhere online and find out that they are a scam.  I wish you luck because they called me for many months harassing me.  I finally told the guy off and told him I was not playing with them and that if they continued to harass me I was going to sue THEM.  Good luck.

They also just called our home.  I called him on the scam.  I told them I knew it was a scam and he started screaming that he'd get ahold of me personally and F*** Me.  I'm a female!  He said his name was Justin Floyd and the phone number was 310-999-0442.  We don't owe them any money, we never did a pay day cash advance loan.

    Who do I call?

They threaten to have you taken into custody if they don't get a call back. When you do talk to them, they claim they are working for the law firm of ACS collecting for "Cash Advance" for the amount of $400, but they will settle out of court if you pay them over the phone. The guy went by the name of Jack Logan. They will ONLY take CC or Debit card and they will not let you mail payment, even by overnight.  I've reported them to the FTC and FBI and I encourage anyone else who receives a call from them to do the same. Don't worry about them being able to do ANYTHING to you. I'm sure they're not even in the U.S..
