looking to buy a Magtag washer DONT DO IT.  We purchased our on 1/26/09 and we are currently waiting for the 4th drum/bearing assembly to be replaced.  It is on back order until 5/13/2011.  We have been waiting since 4/1/2011.  We called Maytag and basically got the too bad for you.  I was informed that since we purchased the extended warranty that it is not their problem anymore.  It is the problem of the service company.   I asked several times why they did not back their name, and the CS rep. made it perfectly clear it was not their issue.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Customer Service and even worse product!!!

We purchased this model In march 2009 as well.  Just over 1 year, and Past the warranty, our machine made terribly loud noises during spin cycle.  The bearings were shot and the drum needed replaced as well.  First of all, this is a terrible product.  To spend almost 1000$ on a washing machine that does maybe 4 loads a week.  After multiple calls to customer service we were able to get a repair person to fix it.  Maytag finally agreed to pay for the $400 part, but we had to pay labor. Here we are not even a year later andthe machine is making even louder and quite honestly scary noises.  Maytag customer service has been atrocious this time around.  Absolutely horrible to deal with. There best offer is for us to purchase a $299 warranty plan that lasts a year.  I was repeatedly told by customer service that they believe a one year warranty and 3 Months on parts is very adequate and if I have concerns I should purchase an extended warranty.  She actually had the nerve to compare purchasing an extended warranty on a washing machine to having car insurance " you never think you're going to need it...". Well, clearly they know their products are crap and won't last past a year.  You buy car insurance first of all because it's the law, secondly because you can't control other drivers or accidents.  You need to purchase an extended warranty because this is a faulty/ poorly made product that the manufacturers won't stand behind.  Totally unacceptable, I would recommend this company to my worst enemy!

I bought a 3000 series washer 4 years ago and was told that it had comersal parts inside and would last for 15 years!! The drumbearing has been making noise since the first 6 months-started just with a high pitched whine-now it drowns out the TV and is ready to granade!! After reading about all the problems with this model, I almost feel like scraping it, and going back to top load that I would get used for 75 bucks and didn't have any problems with!!
What can be done to help me? I'm not willing to pay thru the nose for a bearing/drum that is obviously not anywere close to comersial grade.

            Hi,

I purchased the Maytag 3000 series front loader washer about 1 yr ago.  I hate it!  It's one of those machines with the smell problem so now I have to run it empty and purcase the cleaner to get rid of that awful smell.  I've had front loaders for years and never experienced this.  What's with the time count down?  It stays on 1 forever...what is the 1 supposed to mean? I will never purchase another product by the recommendation of the salesman again without researching it myself.

I found that if I leave the door open on the washer after I am done washing, I don't have any problems with odors or having to use the refresh.

            Hello Melanie,

I own  a number of rental units and I am putting new washer and dryers in them.
I was considering Maytag for its reputation until I started reading about problems with the units and the poor service.
I noticed the following message on a number of web sites

Hello .  My name is Melanie and I am a representative of Whirlpool. I have concerns. I like the 3000 series and would like to install them but I don't like the idea of having problems and then it costing a lot of money to have fixed.

What can you do to alleviate my reluctance in purchasing the Maytags?

Hello, Our washer is now being serviced for the second time since we bought it. I paid cash at the Navy exchange. I am so thrilled that we got this an now I am so upset that I only have had it for under 4 years and the darn thing went F21 an then it will go F28.... I am hoping it will be a easy fix but Money is a issue for those of us on fixed incomes and I can't just buy a new washer every time the Darn thing breaks and no one likes fixing them...
What do you people at Maytag company suggest?

At least they offered some sort of warranty on the parts! For us it was: buy the $600 part and wing it, if it doesn't work, no refunds. I'm going to complain to them and see if I can get any type of deal.

This is Bull [***] product..only 13 months - exactly past my 1 year warranty. I got F27..F28 errors. I think this bad design. They should recall all 3000 series products and free exetnded waranty for all of us.

I agree with Henry about recalling all of the 3000 series.  My son purchased one for his home 8 months before he moved in. That was just about 2 years ago.   He is single and rarely uses it.  His circuit board went out.  He does not have the money to get it fixed.  He just paid it off.  After calling Maytag, there solution was to buy the extended warranty to have it fixed.  The brain of a washing machine should not go out of a washer that quick.  Many of his model numbers were recalled. The ones made a few months earlier.  But his serial number has not yet.  We never received a written response when we e-mailed.
I could see if he abused the washer, and something broke.  He just washed his clothes.  I feel real bad about this because I steered him toward the so called reliable Maytag Company!  What a joke.
I am on the hunt for other complaint departments.  I heard consumer complaints, better business beurea and am eagerly looking for more agencies.
Taking advantage of consumers is not the way to run a business.

I purchased a maytag 3000 series washer in 2008 it started making a noise -  I called a repair man only to be told I need to replace the drum and it will cost just as much as the washer. This is crazy not worth the money!!!!!!!

It would probably help a lot if you didn't use the same robotic reply to every complaint about your company and it's products. Just a clue.
