looking to buy a Magtag washer DONT DO IT.  We purchased our on 1/26/09 and we are currently waiting for the 4th drum/bearing assembly to be replaced.  It is on back order until 5/13/2011.  We have been waiting since 4/1/2011.  We called Maytag and basically got the too bad for you.  I was informed that since we purchased the extended warranty that it is not their problem anymore.  It is the problem of the service company.   I asked several times why they did not back their name, and the CS rep. made it perfectly clear it was not their issue.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Customer Service and even worse product!!!

Just had the repair man out to fix the F=70 display on my 3000 Series front load washing machine.  The guy re=connected some panel and then told me the bearing is not going to last maybe 3 months.  The repair bill will be $900 plus
repairing some of the panels that are going.  Don't bother to fix it.  He recommended an LG. My husband worked for Ford
Motor Co.  They would have had to recall any product with this many problems.  Where is my defender?

Bought a Maytag Series 3000 based on my Mom's good luck with Maytag when the built a good machine,  they apparently do not make them well any more, less then 4 years old and the electronics went out on it and the "board" has to be replaced...$300 for the repair. Now trying to figure out should I fix it or toss it and try a LG brand, Maytag totally disappointed,

Same problem, we bought the red w/d 3000 and now are tying to decide what to do with the washer now that it has died. The bearings just went the repair man said he has never seen a washer this new have a problem this big. We will never buy maytag/whirlpool again, what a piece of junk! There should be a recall, crooks.

I've had my Maytag 3000 series for 4 years now and no problems at all, make sure you maintain it and keep the drain filter clean as well as the front door open and you should be fine    , I'm still a very happy customer!

Oh, yeah... Keep the door open. I do it to keep it from mildewing on the inside, but have paid for it dearly. My Maytag 3000 series washer fills with water all on it's own. It warped my laminate flooring and seeped through the floor to the basement.  The washer was only about six months old. I called Maytag, and of course it wasn't their problem. They said that I must have pressed a button when reaching up to the shelf above the washer.  So, I use the "control lock" and it has happened four more times, the most recent today.  And yes, I need to replace my flooring again. I should send Maytag the bill for the new flooring AND a new washer!

Hey, we bought a Maytag 3000 series about 4 years ago, and recently it stopped turning on. The repairman from Maytag, since you can only use them for service (or so they say), said we needed to replace the whole front panel, which I assume is the Interface control panel. Will cost almost $600 with repairs. Annoying thing is, we had been waiting for the part for a month or two, and they finally got it, but had told us it would be a little over $400 to replace it. Now they say with taxes and labor it'll be closer to $600 AND they cannot guarantee it will work after this part is put in, AND if it doesn't we are stuck with it (no returns or anything). I thought a repairman was supposed to diagnose the problem and fix it, not take a wild guess and then make you pay for their mistake if they're wrong?! If the part replacement doesn't fix the machine, I see that as a fault of the repairman as he then did not properly diagnose the issue. But if the machine needs more than one part to fix it, and it comes to near the cost of the machine like seems to be the case for most of you guys posting here, Maytag should take responsibility and fix it or do a recall. It's ridiculous to expect customers to pay $1800 dollars for a damn steam washing machine, then 4 years later pay almost the same amount to have it repaired. That, in my opinion, is the definition of a faulty product. So yeah, we cannot afford to put out more than $600, and have been doing laundry at the laundrymat for the last couple months. Might just get a new one seeing as the repairman seem incompetent and Maytag is unwilling to help us at all. A washing machine, used by TWO PEOPLE, is not supposed to conk out in 4 years!!

Seems like all the companies are having problems with their front load machines.  They have not worked out the bugs yet.  We have been repairing appliances for about four years now.  I would not recommend a front load washer of any brand.

I too purchased a Maytag 3000  series in Aug 2009, not even 2 years later and I started hearing the loud noise during spin cycle.  It has gotten progressively worse! Now its almost three years and its so loud I have to close the door to my washroom!  It still works , but sounds awful.  Repair man said its "junk" and keep using it til it dies!  Previous washer/dryer was a Maytag that I received in 1987 for a wedding present!  So much for buying a good quality name!

Same issues here. 3000 Series washer and dryer purchased in late 2009, control panel recently went out on the washer. Never again will I waste my hard earned money on a Maytag product! Even with replacing it myself, I'm looking at around $400 more than likely, and even then it's not a guaranteed fix. After reading the complaints here, I'd expect the bearings to fail soon afterwards. I'll be buying a new washer made by LG, that's who made the kitchen appliances I purchased at the same time and I have had zero issues with any of them.

"Melissa", please relay the message to Maytag headquarters to take all of these large pieces of broken down scrap metal and shove them directly up their [***].

Well, these comments are just making me sick.  We purchased the Maytag 3000 washer and dryer on Dec. 16, 2009 from Home Depot. The washer started making a horrible noise when it was spinning and today the repairman came out and gave use the great news that the rear bearings have gone out.  His estimate was $800 and I can not believe it!  After reading the previous comments I am sorry that we ever bought this washer//dryer pair.  I have the red appliances and of course can't find anything close to matching the dryer. I can't afford to replace both units let alone repair the one.  btw/ this washer is used infrequently as there is just my husband and I in the home.  After all the complaints I think they should recall the 3000 series.
