looking to buy a Magtag washer DONT DO IT.  We purchased our on 1/26/09 and we are currently waiting for the 4th drum/bearing assembly to be replaced.  It is on back order until 5/13/2011.  We have been waiting since 4/1/2011.  We called Maytag and basically got the too bad for you.  I was informed that since we purchased the extended warranty that it is not their problem anymore.  It is the problem of the service company.   I asked several times why they did not back their name, and the CS rep. made it perfectly clear it was not their issue.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Customer Service and even worse product!!!

wow, this all sounds to familiar. I too bought a $1000 dollar 3000 series. Under three years later we need a whole new machine do to the drum bearings letting go in the back. Very disappointed with Maytag! Now I need to find something that matches the dryer.

Bought a Maytag 3000 series w/d and the washer has started making a very loud noise during the spin cycle.   After reading all the similar complaints about this brand, you would think Maytag would take the problem seriously instead of sending a computer generated response from someone name Melanie at Maytag.  I have called the companys service center and as everone else has stated, the company accepts no responsibility for the malfunction.  A recall should be in order but that would hurt company profits to admit the product is garbage. NEVER AGAIN!!

Great, now I get to join the club.  Bought the 3000 series w/d in December, 2009.  Sounds like a freight train during spin.  Had the service guy out today to repair a clogged pump.  At least I can now clean that out if needed.  From what I hear (and read above), looks like I'm in for a fight with Maytag.  I had hope for a minute, then I read the responses and see that "Melanie" is a computer.  Who knows where.  I'll keep following up, just to see if someone resolves this issue, but for now, guess I'll jump into the fray...

The home depot sales representative hood winked us into purchasing a crap machine despite the assurnance it would be fine for a second floor landry room.   Mine just went after three years. The machine ran like a train the entire time we owned it with the bearings rumbling and the drum vibrating. Thought it would explode out of the room.  Service rep told my wife yesterday it would cost $1,400 to rebuild the thing.  Horrible product. No more Maytag, No more Whirlpool.

Maytag 3000 bearing assembly completely gone after 2 years.  Repairman said he usually doesn't see this on high end machine (which is what this was supposed to be) and that it would cost more than a new one to fix it.  We have a second floor laundry room and stacked 3000 washer and dryer.  Now we find out, only can stack our dryer another 3000 washer.  I'm tempted to get rid of the dryer and start all over again with another brand, any other brand, but really can't afford to buy a new pair.   Looks like we'll get another 3000 washer, but with an extended warranty this time and hope for the best.  Maybe they're better now (just dreaming I know...)

Oh yeah, we bought the red w/d set, but now the new red available washer can't be stacked with our red dryer, so we're going white and red.  Maybe hang a blue banner for a real patriotic effect.  I didn't even bother trying to deal with Maytag/Whirlpool.  If you're one day over one year when you have a problem, they won't even talk to you.

I also have a 3000 with a bad drum bearing. Sqeals like a pig! Personally there should be a class action lawsuit against maytag. So many people with drum bearing issues. Maytag should stand by there products warranty or not. A consistent faulty part should have a recall. I personally am going to fix the bearing myself. Putting in a quality sealed bearing. But in al honesty we shouldn't have to go through all this trouble. At a premium price tag it should be a premium product! Guess it isn't always a get what you pay for situation. IMHO

To Melanie the computer generated response -
I also have a 3000 series "High Performance" model that is only a little over 2 years old.  I am getting the F71 error.  I reported this to the Customer Experience team at Maytag, and they claimed they haven't had ANY reports of this particular error.  Amazing, since I was able to find dozens in just 5 minutes of searching on the internet.  Maytag Customer Experience also claims that since the machine is no longer under warranty, the only thing they could do was refer me to one of their preferred vendors in my area.  This preferred vendor charges $129 just for providing me the priveledge of coming to my house.  When I asked if the technician they were sending was Maytag Authorized, and more importantly, familiar with this particular error, they couldn't provide an answer.  Called another Authorized Maytag repair company from the yellow pages, and they charge $50 to ring my doorbell.  What kind of kick-back is Maytag getting from their preferred vendors?  And since it is now extremely obvious that this is a known defect from the factory, why won't Maytag stand behind their product?  I echo everyone else's sentiments on this blog - I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER MAYTAG OR WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT AGAIN!  Melanie, I welcome the opportunity for you to contact me regarding this matter.  My Model is MHWE300VW11 and the Serial number is CSY0205263.  I have an account on the Maytag website, and my User ID is Southpawfish.  If you care enough to look into this, you can find my contact information there.

Same issue here! Why should we be getting charged $129 dollars to have someone come out to fix something that is faulty in the first place? If Maytag expects us to pay so frickin much for the replacement parts, almost the cost of the machine when it's still less than 4 yrs old, they should at least offer free repair.
      Damn you, Maytag!!

I'm so disappointed to have found this site! I too have a Maytag3000 series set. We did purchase the extended warranty. Thank God because we've needed it! We bought ours in 2009 and have had the repair service out for the pump and the belt 4 times now. I am horrified to have read that the drum and interface are a huge problem. Hopefully they both go out and can be replaced before my warranty ends. That way I can have a little longer to search and save for a better washer dryer set. And no it won't be Maytag as I do not wish to share your lack of customer service problems. They really should make a recall and offer warranties to those who have them. They built a good reputation and now they're letting it go to hell. Very sad but thank you for the heads up!
