Received 3 calls from these guys from 559-328-2353 at my office claiming to be some kind of Official US Branch of Govt. Anyways I called them to see what this was all about, and they couldn't get their names straight, So I asked for their address and the guy just hangs up. Its a SCAM of some kind for sure so don't fall for it.

I have received two calls in the past twenty-four hours asking to speak to my husband who happens to be deceased.  The party, with a thick accent, identifies himself as Jonathan Edwards and says a legal action has been started in my husband's name and he'd better phone back right away or there will be serious legal consequences.  I have contacted the Attorney General's office in my state
and suggest that others do likewise.

The name was garbled and I was told my son had legal action against him. The # to call is 213-283-6752.

Got a message today on my answering machine. It was for my son that hasn't lived at home for a few years. From Dept. Of Legal Affairs he said...... Name John Baker.  ...He had a strong Indian accent and left a long message I could barely understand.  The phone number just happens to be the same as in Rhona's post  above 415-506-1312. At the end of  the message he said "God Bless"  Sounds like a pattern!!!!

Got the same call on my answering machine this morning from John Baker at the Dept. of Legal Affairs 415-506-1312. He had heavy Indian accent and said legal action was commencing and to call him back or it would be a legal mess. Looks like same scam.

I also received a message on my answering machine from the Dept. Of Legal Affairs . The message was not left for a specific
Person (three adults and one child live here) and just said to call Back or legal action would commence. It sounded so fake
And ridiculous . I'm sure I will get more of these calls but I wouldn't waste my time with them. They're morons ..... Ignore them!!!

Just received message from Dept of Legal Affairs, 415-576-1312 (Roy Cooper).  He had heavy Indian (?) accent and obviously called from room full of callers.  Caller mispronounce wife's first name. Then I looked up dept. on web and substantiated what I knew - call is a hoax.

I received a call from 760-595-8292.  Both myself and my husband received separate calls.  Thick Indian accent.  Hung up on me when I argued that I should have received a certified letter in the mail or been served papers if there was a pending legal action.  Did reverse look up on the number and it was listed YMax Communications Mobile in El Centro, California.

A voicemail from a man with a heavy accent claiming to be with the department of legal affairs, saying his name was "Captain Miller". His message was for a person he named to return his call in order to avoid a "legal mess for you". based on the other posts this has to be a SCAM!!  On top of that, if we call that number, we will have established a business relationship with these thieves that arguably exempts them from the "do not call" law.  We give up whatever protection the law affords, which is minimal.

My daughter got a call this evening from Kevin Green @ 909-666-5714, indicating she owed nearly $5000 on taxes from 2010 and unless she responded with payment she would be arrested tomorrow.  Of course it upset her tremendously.  When i called the number back I got a woman with an hispanic accent saying "US Treasury".  Of course I could answer my phone with that greeting also.
Please contact the Federal Trade Commission to report this.

I got a call this evening at 5:40 from a guy with a thick indian accent. There were times I could not understand him.  He told me that I had some "legal proceedings started against me".  He asked me if I had an attorney.  He told me I needed to call the "Department of blah blah for the US Treasury".  I hung up on him.  He called me right back and asked why I had hung up on him.  I told him "because I wanted to".  He proceeded to tell me that I needed to call a Michael Lee at the US Treasury at 760-595-8292.  I asked what state that was in.  He told me south-central, CA. Whatever.  So I called the 760 number from my cell phone.  The first 2 times I got a voicemail recording.  I couldn't understand the name of the person on voicemail.  When I called the 3rd time to let someone else listen to the VM, a real person answered with a thick indian accent.  He said he was with the Department of Legal Affairs FOR the US Treasury.  His indian accent lessened a bit and he said his name was "Jack Wilson, badge # 112063". (I worked at a local jail for 18 years - not sure if a badge # that long would even fit on a badge.) He made a comment about the number I was calling from, then asked me if I am calling from the number I originally got the phone call on.  I told him no.  He wanted me to confirm the number I got the call on.  I told him my home phone no.  He proceeded to tell me legal proceedings have been started against me and there is a warrant for my arrest.  I BUSTED out laughing.....he hung up on me.  How rude!!!!!!
