Received 3 calls from these guys from 559-328-2353 at my office claiming to be some kind of Official US Branch of Govt. Anyways I called them to see what this was all about, and they couldn't get their names straight, So I asked for their address and the guy just hangs up. Its a SCAM of some kind for sure so don't fall for it.

I just received the same type of scam.  Heavy Indian accent, lady named Annie Johnson, Dept. of Legal Affairs, phone number 909-237-9379, needed attorney to call back, said I was wanted for tax evasion on my 2009 taxes and owed $3,900 and that they were sending someone tomorrow to take me away to jail.  They were also going to freeze all my accounts and put a lien against my house and property.  And yes.... I was also told to "have a blessed day".  How nice of them.  :)

I just got from the same number but from Kevin Miller saying my 2009 taxes were not filed appropriately and there was 3 charges being brought against me and they were going to file for a warrant for my arrest and I would be going to jail for 6 months. I needed to give them my attorney information. They told me while they read me the charges against me I could not interrupt them and could ask questions when they were done. When I started asking questions they threatened me with being arrested and hung up on me .

Annie called me as well Dec 11th with same message left on voice mail. Smelled a scam but returned call. Spoke with "Ryan Colemn"- his spelling.) Same story, threaten jail and liens, etc, etc. for incorrect payment of correct 2009 taxes. Said I was now on the "IRS radar." He got more annoyed as I questioned him. Gave his number as 909-271-9502 in San Bernardino US Treasury office. Said he would have call the State Attorney's office to have me arrested. I asked him why the state would be involved if this was a federal tax issue. He hung up.

I just got the same message from "Annie Johnson" from legal affairs, heavy Indian accent, with call center sounds in the background, asking for my retained attorney to call them back. Googled it and found this, so thank you.

Just a heads up they also use this number 925-478-6221. Same M.O with legal affairs involved and they try to scare you with you will need attorney threat if you don't answer. They also mention problems with the u.s treasury so look out.

Received a call claiming to be from the Department of Legal Affairs at US Treasury. Phone number to call back was 323 786 8560. He claimed his name was John Davis but he had a very heavy India accent so that seemed unlikely. He asked that I call back Michael Lee.  I challenged him for an address (he said Los Angeles Street, Los Angeles), case number (could answer that) and supervisor (Keith Nelson). He did not like being challenged.

Just got a phone call from Sean Williams telephone number 323-786-0189. Told me he was from the department of legal affairs regarding the US treasury. And that I had a problem with my 2009 tax returns and they were issuing a warrant within the next 45 minutes for my arrest. I needed that I had an outstanding balance due of 3000 and something dollars.  Ask me if I had any other questions before the warrant was served and I told him he was full of [***].  He then hangs up the phone. He also had a very heavy Indian accent.

Received a message this morning from 404-826-7961 (Atlanta, GA).  Heavy Indian accent, in a crowded and noisy room.  The call identified herself as Veronica Scott.  Same message.  Scare tactics.  Disgusting.

voice mail, heavy indian accent... biggest tip-off was his name was "john baker".  i don't think so.  claimed to be from the department of legal affairs with the u.s. treasury.  phone number 925-478-8224.  i didn't call back because the whole thing sounded ridiculous but he was very threatening.  he ended the message by saying "God Bless!".  that's some serious nerve.  anyway, a quick search led to several sites confirming what i suspected.  how awful for those that actually had to talk to these people and were told they were being arrested!

Same story here. Steve Robinson from dept of legal affairs left a stern warning message and I need to call (909)237-5919. Somehow he knew my name and my number is unlisted. Must have got it from the recent Home Depot or chase bank security breaches.

    Same here. Same details.

"Austin Black" (mush-mouth could barely say his own name...) from Dept. of Legal Affairs 909-562-1778.

I called back and they hung up as soon as I asked for details of any case against me.

My son got he same call yesterday.  I called this morning and was told they couldn't talk to me due to privacy issues.
I kept pressing and he finally admitted if it was tax related.  When my son came home from work he called 909-237-5919
and got the same guy I spoke with.  So we decided to mess with him.  Again, it was related to his 2009 taxes. He cant even
be original. My son told him the didn't feel like paying the taxes, he didn't live at the address he gave . Finally he asked if this
was a scam and the guy James got so flustered he yelled if you thing this is a scam fine I will have the arrest warrant
issued immediately and hung up.  We waited a few minuted and called his back and asked why he hung up.  He claimed he was  connecting him to a supervisor and hung up again.  My son says hes going to call him again tomorrow just to
so he can see how it feels to be harassed.

"James Scott, Badge#6892 from the Department of Legal Affairs of the US Treasury" called us yesterday afternoon (heavy accent similar to Indian or Pakistani, or something like that) threatening to arrest my husband because of tax evasion.  He said there was a mistake made in 2009 resulting in $2000+ delinquent taxes.  He insisted IRS Officers had personally visited our home to inform us of the mistake but we had not rectified the situation.  I kept insisting on his telling me what exactly was wrong with our tax return because we are completely unaware of any problem, but he said it was not his job to tell me that.  It was only his job to notify me that my husband would be arrested.  He said my only chance to avoid the problem was to talk to the assigned officer and ask to see if maybe she would help us rectify the problem.  When he connected me to the "assigned officer, Kimberley Jones" (also with a similar accent) she said there were IRS and CIA officers monitoring the call and it was being recorded.  She said the only way to avoid having my husband arrested was to go through a validation procedure.  She said I had to go to my bank, get the cash (all the while staying on the line with her or our chance at avoiding arrest would be lost), go to a store she would tell me of, purchase the instant tax payment voucher, then providing the reference number of the voucher.  She said once the voucher number was confirmed, a 1099C would be generated and the order to arrest my husband would be cancelled and a confirmation e-mail would be provided.  The number they used was 213-426-8834.

Just got the same call and wanted me to call 909-562-1782. The conversation went just like Barhart50 in June. I told him I wouldn't pay him and he got defensive and said I never told you to pay me, did I. I needed to contact a criminal lawyer and that he won't be able to help me for at least 6 months. It was also the 2009 taxes.
