Received 3 calls from these guys from 559-328-2353 at my office claiming to be some kind of Official US Branch of Govt. Anyways I called them to see what this was all about, and they couldn't get their names straight, So I asked for their address and the guy just hangs up. Its a SCAM of some kind for sure so don't fall for it.

    I got a call yesterday from the Department of the Treasury, Legal Affairs Division.  Guy had a heavy Indian Accent.  At first, he didn't give me his name, so when I asked and he said John Miller, I replied, "John Miller" in a really sarcastic tone.  And he said yes what about it???  He knew I was on to him.  He actually called asking for my daughter who was at work but is young and still lives with us.  He asked me to give him her cell phone number (yeah, right!!! As if I would, LOL!).  So I told him no that I wanted his number and his ID and we would call the Department of the Treasury to verify his identity.  Then he said she has legal action against her that will take place right away.  So I just told him in that case, she would have her attorney call him (her boyfriend is a practicing attorney, LOL again!)  He finally gave up and just hung up.  The number he called from was (909) 271-8420 in Upland, CA.  I called the number back once yesterday and it had a recording with a woman with a heavy Indian accent saying that "You have reached the Department of the Treasury, Legal Affairs.  Please leave your name and number...."  Of course I didn't.  Then I called back later and got the same message.  I just told them in a firm voice they need to stop and desist and that they've been reported to the Department of the Treasury, Office of the Inspector General and they will be contacted by them shortly.  I did not leave my name.  Today I called again and it appears that the number is no longer working.  LOL!  What pathetic losers.

        I received a call with voice mail from a 929 number with the same type of message and claim being from the US treasury dept of legal affairs.

        i just recieved a call today. august 22nd 2016, from a mike miller concerning my nephew from so called legal affairs u.s treasury. stateing law enforcement charges are being taken agaisnt him. that he needs his lawyer to make a return call on his behalf. by a indian sounding voice.

      Exact same thing happened to me.  The phone number was 914-266-8207 in New Castle, NY.  Guy had a heavy Indian Accent.  There should be a way to stop this from happening.  When I read what you wrote it was almost exactly as it happened to me.  Sorry they just got a new number.  Still pathetic losers.

        My husband called them back and he hung up.  Kept calling and my iPhone said "user busy."  I'd never give out information on the phone.  It's a scam for sure!  The guy had an accent, said his name is Steve and I could not undserstand the last name.  I guess they think using American names will trick us😂

      I got same call Mike Mueller is what accent sounded like, I call back and the woman ask for my attorney info was . I ask for what she said my 2014 taxes.. hmmmm I have not worked in 10 years. she hung up. 917-832-1091 from NY ...both had accents very hard to understand.

          I got the call today June 9th from a 909-999-6159 Name given was Leslie Owen. After she finished her little spill, I told her funny you say I need my Attorney, I am an Attonrney!!! She hung up!! I waited and called the number back later in the day just to see if they would answer, well to say the least the number was no longer in service!!

            I just got this same call from Leslie Owens who left voicemail message saying she is from Dept of Legal Affairs. Definitely very heavy accent and advised to retain an attorney to avoid a legal mess. Thank you for posting your message since now know this is a scam.

              Just received a call from someone saying her name was "Lisa Jones" from Department of Legal Affairs. Sounded like she was in a school gym. Lots of other people talking. She had a very heavy accent. Could barely understand her. Caller ID said Woodside, NY 914-832-1087. Told her I didn't believe she was from the IRS. She responded that I better be prepared for the legal consequences and hung up. Tried calling the number back but it's busy. They tried that on me 2 years ago. Lol

                Just received a call form a "James Tardy" (LOL--he had a thick Indian accent!) who left a message and said that he was from the legal department of the US Treasury Dept., and that "a law enforcement action has been started against my name". He said  that I needed to "call back or call my retaning attorney to do it for me, as it might end up in a legal mess for you!" When I called his number, 929-244-4741, James answered and I told him that I had just received a very 'inflammatory message' from him. He then asked me my name and I said, " No I won't give you my name!!" He then abruptly hung up! I know my blood pressure started to go up and I then thought that I would Google the US Treasury Department + Legal Affairs and up came all these messages about scam! I was so greatful to see how similar they all were to my call, so I thought that I would add mine too. Thank you all! You helped me to not have a heart attack!!

                  Thank god, because I was just sitting here a mess, nervous not knowing what I have done I do not mess around with the law and I'm so upset because the [***] even has my sisters phone number and called and left the same disturbing message on her voice mail and has us all in a up roar. I am so happy I decided to look this up because I was about to have a heart attack. i'm so upset at the fact that they would even play with people lives like that especially for our elders who will give up money in a minute. so sad

                      I too had gotten a call from a person named JACK MOORE  with a heavy Indian tounge who called from a  (929) 244-4854. Heleft a message on my cell and I have no idea how he may have gotten it,  demanding me to call him back at the LEGAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT and had a rude tone and attitude.  Still have the recording...

                  I just got a call from too and said the same stuff to me and that was a VM so I called backed and when I pushed for their name and information they hung up on me

                Them back very quickly and this guys name was Vic Jones.

                I received a call today from Leslie Owens with the exact message.  I called back and a man answered the phone.  He tried to pretend as if he could not hear me and continued to say, "Hello, can you he me."   I said, "I know you can hear me and I know this is a scam.  Stop calling my number!"  He hung up the phone without saying a word.

                Just received a message on answering machine from Leslie Owens. 570 area code.  Called back and got a message.  i left her a message stating that her name and phone number have been reported to local and state authorities and if the calls continue that I will be taking action against her.  She had a slight accent and sounded like she was older.

                Got the same message from a Christina Brown with the number 718/734-4229.  Thank goodness for google search and the ability to see it is a scam.  Caller ID said the phone belonged to Shaela Warren.

            I literally just got a call from the same person!!!  We don't answer our phone this time of year ( political ads and what not). The number she left to call back was 323-786-1041. Don't know what number she called from though.

            I been getting these phone calls too, lately, from a Leslie Owen, of the Department of Treasury.  Leaving me the same type of message.
            That there's an enforcement action against myself, to have my attorney call or if I don't call back it would turn into a legal mess,   The phone number 718-819-7702

          I also received the same call today from Mike Miller with the 917 area code. But wgen I called the number back no answer without any type of voice pickup. I contacted the Department of Treasury and found out this truly is a scam. He was also a Foreign.
