Received 3 calls from these guys from 559-328-2353 at my office claiming to be some kind of Official US Branch of Govt. Anyways I called them to see what this was all about, and they couldn't get their names straight, So I asked for their address and the guy just hangs up. Its a SCAM of some kind for sure so don't fall for it.

    I just got another one from "Michael Clark" Department of Legal Affairs with a return number of 213-260-3400 this is a different number than he used the last time but the same caller.  UGH, WTF stop calling my number.

    But what are they scamming? Does anybody know? So if you actually answer, what do they want? And why leave a message (for my son who's lived in Thailand for five years) at all?

    From Berkeley CA
    Happen to be visiting my parents in Berkeley, CA and I picked up their home phone when it rang. Usual story per the other posts - from department of legal affairs, enforcement action against me, I haven't responded to letters, they are issuing a warrant for my arrest (will not be able to post bail and will be in jail for at least 6 months!). Told me that I have forfeited the right to have a CPA deal with my case, and told me I owed. c. $4,700 or so in taxes. Strong Indian accent.

    I asked him what tax year this was regarding, he said 2012. I asked him to what address they had said the letters to, and he gave me my parents address, which is not the address used for my 2012 return (haven't lived with my parents since 2005). I challenged him on the notices to my address and he hung up.

    The number was from Barstow, CA; 760-678-5556. Didn't catch the name.

    Why has't this guy been caught  I was called from El Centro Dept of legal affairs (760-335-6113)   Since I was sure it was a scam I told him so, and hung up.  Later I called back the number and same foriegn accented person responded  "Department of Legal Affairs"   so the phone number is still in use...  Called again Saturday morning, knowing the real gov't offices like that are closed on Saturdays... still answered by this same foreign man.  I tried reverse directory and and got simply E Centro... no "agency" listed.

    Received message from no name with Indian Accent. If you do not return my call we will call the police to come and get you. I called the number back from my work phone today and he said now that you have called we have your number and we will call the Sheriff to come and get you. Now mind you he does not know my name as I did not tell him. I said that is fine I am calling you from the District Attorney's office and the Sheriff office is next door. Make my day.

      just got a scam call also from Carlos Warner, I think he indicated that he was from The Department of legal affairs and legal action was being taken against me. That was funny because I'm a law enforcement officer and I would know if any action was taken against me! Then he said That it was a wearn epots issue ( no such thing) and a alebo notification, and I should call back @ 213 260 3400. looks like I going to do some hunting,  I got something for u Carlos it's call handcuffs

    My caller was Robin Smith.  Clearly not a "Robin Smith" with that accent. Was actually quite threatening.  Told him/her? that I didn't believe any of it.  He/she said that I would believe tomorrow when the authorities showed up at my door.  When I said that was BS, he/she told me my address.  I said that wasn't enough proof, and was again told that I would see when they showed up at my door with an arrest warrant.  The funniest part was when the caller mentioned the "magistrate".

    Received a call from a "Jordan Miller" with the Dept. of Legal Affairs of the US Treasury.  Mr. Miller states that someone has brought legal action against my name, and I better call.  I asked Mr. Miller where he is from and he said California.  Is this California by way of India?  His heavy Indian accent tells me that his name is not "Jordan Miller". And telling me I better call-threat? Well, I won't even waste my breath and call.  ANY DEPARTMENT OF THE US GOVERNMENT DOES NOT CALL YOU. They would most definitely send a letter maybe even certified if they wanted to get in touch.  His number was 909-961-8011.  And the person I need to speak with Brian King.  Remember that these scam artist usually pick easy names and mostly names of actors.

    Call from Carlos Warner legal affairs dept. warning of legal enforcement action against my name and to answer or have my attorney call back immediately to 213 260-3400. Blah, blah, blah!  Already had the IRS scam call, and still get windows operating system scam about a virus on my computer.  These people suck!

      I received a call from "Jack Wilson" giving me the same line of crap. Last time someone called, it was a person who claimed to be from some part of the IRS. Since I have not ever paid a bill late, always filed my taxes on time, and regularly check my credit report I knew he was trying to scan me. I told him that he had the wrong person and he said, "If you think that you will surely be in trouble and God won't be able to save your soul". Can you beleive the nerve of that guy?!!! I wish there was something we could do to stop this kind of calling. I hate it because the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY is not helping me.

      People, just purchase a call blocker that will allow you to block up 1,200 numbers for under $50. They are all over reputable online retailers. Read the product reviews and take a chance! They even allow you to block 8 or 9 area codes completely, if you desire. So if you see a strange number calling your landline, do research on it here and, if it is bogus, press one button to block them forever, it is that simple. The device I have does not even require batteries and will save all the numbers in memory until I delete them, even after unhooking it from my phone line.

      I received voice mail message from 646-583-0423 saying they from US Treasury and I had an outstanding item having to do with tax fraud?? I was told to connect their office. I called and they answered Department of Legal Affairs! I had the same scam last year.

      Received message from Nelson Cotter (Potter maybe) from Dept. of legal affairs with legal action pending against me. Told me to call back (347-694-7846 or situation will get messy.
